I ordered americano with added basil. I guess $ 1 charged only buys you one leaf because they literally just put a tiny piece on each slice. I’ve ordered fresh basil from other places and usually they give you a generous amount. Don’t know what happened. Otherwise good pizza love the sauce.

We love Smashing Tomato! We’ve been to both locations here in Lexington and have enjoyed every visit. Great, fresh food from quality ingredients and wonderful customer service. The prices are great too! They offer both lunch and dinner specials with plenty to choose from. We love their Caesar Salad, with or without chicken, the pizzas are all amazing and you can make your own up if you wish, and their tomato basil soup is awesome! I just wished they offered a bowl of soup instead of a cup. It’s not enough! S.T. offers a casual atmosphere, great food at a very affordable price. Go now!

Caesar salad is delicious. I could just come here for the sheet music bread. Definitely a quick delicious option if you’re in the Fayette Mall area. Parking lot is a little dysfunctional but I would recommend trying at least once.

Always delicious and yummy. Pizza to go is sometimes mushy in the to go box so better to eat in in my opinion.

One of my favorite places. Food is good quality and the bread is great. Had the BBQ pizza and it was delicious.

I haven’t had better pizza in Lexington. It’s very fresh, with two choices of sauce(Neapolitan or «smashing», which is spicier). It’s cooked in a wood-fire oven. Pizza is a convenient choice w/kids so honestly I’m tired of pizza given how often we eat it. But this was original. Very memorable. Order the artichoke cheese dip!!!

My daughter and I decided to have dinner here after shopping at Old Navy. I may have fallen in love with it! I had the Cortina pizza, roasted garlic, sundries tomatoes, mishrooms, Gorgonzola and moz cheese, and it does not have sauce on it. It was so delicious! My daughter had the lasagna and it was not a hit for her, the sauce was a bit spicy for her. Wood fire pizza is so yummy and it was a great pizza. I look forward to returning and trying some of the other menu yummies!

This is the 5th «Fast casual» pizza place(FCP) I’ve eaten at. I go out of my way to experience all of these that I can find when traveling. I would have enjoyed it better had I not been able to compare it to the other four(which were in Minneapolis, MN, Nashville, TN, Youngstown, OH and Akron, OH). However, having been to several others, I would say this was my least favorite of the category. My reasons are as follows: 1) It was my least favorite of the pizzas. The crust tasted«floury» to me. 2) It was the most expensive of all of these. The base pizza was around 25 to 30% more expensive than the other FCPs. 3) The term«fast» is relative. With their 900 degree ovens, the pizzas are done more quickly than at the others I’ve been to, which tend to be around 600 – 700. However, even with the faster-cooking pizza, the service was significantly slower than any of the others, which have the«feel» of a Subway or a Chipotle. Even though you order at a counter, this restaurant felt much more like a traditional«sit down» restaurant. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, and is certainly preferable for many, it’s just not what I was expecting or what I’m looking for in an FCP restaurant. All of this having been said, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, a great selection, and was not a low-quality pizza by any means. While it’s not my personal choice, I would still recommend going and trying it for yourself because much of what I didn’t care for is simple matter-of-opinion and I can see it being the favorite of some other diners.

I am a huge fan of Crust, but had yet to try Smashing Tomato until yesterday. We stopped in before going to see a movie at the Fayette Cinemark and, post meal, we decided that this would be our new pre-movie plan.(Sorry, Cinemark, no more popcorn revenue from me.) The pizza at Smashing Tomato is a truly fine example of a neapolitan pie… chewy crust, fresh ingredients, wood-fired. We had a pizza special(shallots, pork sausage, garlic, spicy sauce) and a puttanesca, and a caesar salad(the salad was a meal in itself and was plenty for three people to share). Our bill, including drinks, was about $ 35. There are different camps of pizza-lovers who appreciate different things in their pizza experiences. I have friends who are all about the«good deal»…2 for 1s, extra breadsticks, free soda. I also have friends who love the extra-large, ingredient-laden pie that really needs to be folded origami-style in order to get everything to your mouth. I have deep-dish friends who crave the crispy crust of a Chicago-style pie. Smashing Tomato is none of the above. Smashing Tomato IS fresh, quality ingredients, thoughtfully chosen and applied, on a crust that is chewy and tasty from corner to edge and wood-fired to perfection. To the person in line behind me who thought the menu was limited, I would say I disagree. I prefer a menu where each and every item is a star. Not every place needs to be Cheesecake Factory… if you took their menu book and pared it down to the few things they do very very well, you’d end up with a one-page leaflet of decent food. Smashing Tomato will be a new regular stop for us because, in short, it’s delicious. Highly recommended :-)

Rude service. I got up to get a refill on my drink, and the manager came along and took my food and put it in the trash. It was half a pizza. I wasn’t even away from my table more than a minute. Worst dining experience ever!!!

I love wood-fired pizza the best, and this is my favorite place to get it in Lexington. Quality ingredients, delicious flavor, good sauce to dough ratio. Try the creamy tomato basil chicken soup. Full of creamy calories, but it’s just too good to pass up!

The place has fallen off a little bit over the years(the sauces tasted brighter and the crust had more character in the past), but they still put out tasty pies and delicious affogatos. Service is friendly. Smashing Tomato is one of the few restaurants with character in South Lexington and my favorite place for thin-crust pizza in the area.

A family favorite. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and friendly manager, Miles. My personal favorites are: the Cortina pizza. Like all their pizzas, it is baked in a wood fired oven. The bite of the gorgonzola combined with the creamy roasted garlic and sweetness of the sun-dried tomatoes make this sauceless pizza a true winner. The original chopped salad. The balsamic dressing has a nice sweetness to it. It blends well with the mild red onion and I enjoy the crunch of the occasional walnut. The large is huge, definitely great for sharing. You can add grilled chicken as well. The spicy tomato basil with chicken soup. Wow! My kids discovered this one a few visits ago. It’s very rich. And just amazing. We always have a pleasant dining experience here.

Went with my daughter, got the ultimate pepperoni pizza and she got the child’s cheese pizza, my pizza had pools of grease in it. I understand it came with a decent amount if pepperoni that would create the grease, but this was ridiculous. The pools of grease would pour off the pizza as I ate. Unfortunately, my daughters pizza was greasy as well and hers was only cheese. The crust of mine was burned, understandable with the wood fired pizza, but you would think they would master the skills by now. I’m not coming back, and I’ll probably be sick to my stomach all night from this grease

I enjoyed this pizza so much that I went back for more the next day! The service is quick, staff helpful and I can’t wait to try more than pizza and salad. Prices are good and it is fun to watch them make pizza through the class window. It is a counter order and wait for your beeper to light up… which is not long.

Excellent service! This is where I want to go when I am craving pizza! In addition to the regular menu they have really unique specials that feature homemade sausage and fresh made mozzarella!!! The manager took time to explain the new ingredients to me on the special for today !!!

Hand-fired, brick-oven baked personal pizzas, made to order. Can’t say I’ve tried much besides the pizza, but it’s always been good to me, so no complaints there. I usually prefer the Italiano, with pepperoni, salami, sausage, and olives. It is a little hard to eat though… The pieces tend to fall apart unless you fold them. Totally worth it though. The Sheet Music Bread is quite good, but kind of wish it came with some sort of marinara. In all honesty, I probably could have asked but was too full from the pizza to even bother at that point.
