The William T. Young library is the place to get some serious work done. I’ve been going here since my undergrad days that started ten years ago(yes I know… I’m still in school but am aiming for the doctorate now). There are study rooms students can rent out for four hour intervals, a plethora of books, access to electronic journal articles, age old microfiche, and food at the Hub. There are drink and food machines, including a Marley Coffee machine. There are also microwaves down there as well. Students and everyday people alike can come into Willy T. Young(except after 10 pm when a valid UK student ID is required) because it is publicly funded. There is a reference desk on the second floor, help desk for electronics and other things in the basement, and a place for students and faculty to record videos with new high tech gadgets also in the basement. Plenty of room to spread out for group study or for yourself if you’re like me. One caveat though — the library gets pretty loud around dead week and finals week because there are so many students. I usually plan to go to the quiet study area on the fifth floor when that happens to remedy the situation.
