Microtel Inn & Suites BWI Airport/Baltimore

Never again! Run down, dirty. We were there two nights! A few sheets of toilet paper left on the rolls not replaced and never left an extra roll. Turned on heat and the room started to smell like something was burning! Left smell in the room for the rest of the stay! Still old TV which was on top of the closet. Desperate need of updating! Terrible for the price! I will not stay in a Microtel again there are too many other options!

Hair all over the bathroom floor. Smells moldy. Toilet dirty. Dont stay here. 11 hours and I am on a plane!

Bed bugs. The rate was reasonable — especially when you divide it out amongst all your uninvited bed bug guests.
I had to go and buy new clothes, and throw out all my luggage to ensure they didn’t come with me to my new apt.
I am disgusted.

I was in need of a place to sleep for a few hours after the Mayweather/​Pacquio fight and the rate was reasonable. This was honestly my first time in years seeing one of those big back television smh. Thats normally one of the 1^st updates a hotel does. The rooms were a decent size, walls were paper thin. The interior definitely felt dated.
Rate was $ 78, $ 88.14 after taxes.

I stayed here earlier this month for a Saturday night by myself. I arrived at around 2 PM and tried to check in. The lady behind the counter wasn’t terribly nice to me and told me that check in was at 3. At that point I asked if I could check in early and I was rebuffed. So with that being said I went out and waited in my car for an hour in the parking lot (I had run a marathon earlier that morning and hadn’t been able to shower yet). Once 3 rolled around I went back in and the lady behind the counter was all of sudden pleasant and helpful. I asked about the shuttle to and from BWI which was the main reason that I had booked this place. The lady behind the counter then gave me a business card with a number to call whenever I wanted picked up at the airport as I had a rental car to return. She then went on to explain to get taken to the airport the next day I had to sign up on a sign up sheet and did so for 5:00 AM with no problem. With that being settled I went up to the room and was surprised at the size of it especially when compared to other Microtel’s that I have stayed in. There was a large sitting area with a kitchen in one half of the room that I was staying in and a king sized bed on the other half. My problem with it is that it felt rather dirty. While it may not have actually been dirty I will blame the lighting for this. Beyond that I had a few other problems with the place, most notably the paper thin floors. For about 3 straight hours in the evening I could hear the people above me moving about in their room. At first I just thought that they were being incredibly loud but I think it would require a major effort to stomp around your room for that long. My second major issue had to do with the bath tub and the broken tub stopper. The only way to allow the tub to drain was to take the whole thing out. Finally the tub itself was old and and looked dirty due to some areas that were black even though the tub was white. On further inspection it turned out not to be dirty but I still am not sure what it was. As for the shuttles with this place, I had a good amount of luck with them. One arrived at the airport about 10 minutes after I called to be picked up and so I was quickly taken back to the hotel. Then in the morning my shuttle driver was on time and pleasant.
The bottom line for me is that I might stay here again in the future. I am not so sure that my wife would approve of it if she went with me but the shuttles to and from the airport combined with the price made this hotel a steal of a deal for me.

Better experience this time but still mediocre at best. Lobby and hallways didn’t have as strong of smell as last time but still had multiple floor types. The cones in the downstairs hallway to alert to a leak and/​or rise in the floor was still there all these months later. Check in gal was wonderful, friendly and brought us what we called down for. Check in was on Christmas day and I felt bad that she had to work. Room was reserved for 3 yet only 2 bath towels were present and no washcloths so she bought them up after I called for them. Shuttle service was more organized, so organized in fact that my husband was called and awoken at 4:55 am while my daughter and I were in the elevator to meet our 5am shuttle time. I thought that was a little premature but at least he was onetime compared to last time. Overall an ok experience for the price.

Was looking for a inexpensive hotel for one night. Walked in to check in and there were people just hanging out. It looked dirty and had a odd smell. When I got to the room and opened the door there is a different smell. Looked in the bathroom and it just looked like a old run down apartment. The beds had a small hole in the sheet. I hope there aren’t bed bugs here. From the looks of this place you would think so.

Not even worth a star. Hardly remodeled. Arrived at BWI nearly am hour ago. Called them twice and still no pick up. Now I’m in a cab just do I can go and get my car. Never ever again!

HORRIBLE — It was 11:00 pm, I was looking for a hotel. I called «corporate» and got a reservation here as I was coming into the area.
The guy at the desk, the owner I think, first said, there as no reservation. I threatened to call «microtel corporate reservations». He started backpedaling saying that, Corporate shouldn’t make reservations for his hotel late in the evening without calling him because he was book…(Ok, so I did have a reservation, but it was booked).
Finally he offered me a «dirty room». the other folks wanted to «change rooms because the smoke detector was broken». — He showed me the room — smelled strongly of smoke.
Here is my conclusion (but only my guess as to what happened).
First customer checked in, didn’t want smelly room. Smoke detector was «broken» because prior customer broke it so they could smoke. When the moved that customer to another room, they gave away my room, but he didn’t update the system, so I showed up looking for my room.
On top of all of that, just dealing with the person at the front desk was «unpleasant» to say the least.
Bad to worse to awful.

Very disappointed in this microtel. Stayed here two years ago and it was much better. Started off with my reserved room not even being available and having to switch to a suite instead of the two queen beds I had asked for. Wouldn’t of been a big issue if the pull out couch had pillows and a comforter but it just had a yellowed sheet. Front desk provided a pillow (yellowed of course) and a fitted sheet but no type of real cover. The next night we were able to get a comforter. The room over all isn’t that dirty but does feel run down. Stains all over the place and cig burns on just about everything. Feels more like a frat house than a motel. Terrible coffee and a joke of a breakfast tops it off. The neighbors are the worst part as they seem to be smoking it up with MJ every night and start with the music pounding through the walls before 7 am. Their room is marked as non-​smoking so unless their room is never cleaned the hotel staff is just ignoring the issue. I’ll be glad to be getting out of this place in a few hours and if it weren’t for the cheap price ($ 66 after the discounts) I would of found another place. Next time we’ll spend a few more bucks or try to stay with nearby family instead of using this motel again.

A nightmare room. I should have just slept in my car and used that money for a steak dinner. Found 3 cockroaches around the bed area. Stained walls and bed sheets. Hair still stuck on clean towels. Smelly room. Very uncomfortable bed. I had back pains the next day. Well lesson learned pictures don’t tell the truth lol.

Great place for poor service.
I’d rather sleep on a rock than deal with their customer service at the front desk. Went to the red roof instead. Had a much better experience.

Disgusting carpet. Stained bedsheets. TV remote didn’t work. Thought I reserved a no smoking room but only smoking rooms were available when I arrived. Lobby looked pretty nice and the desk clerk was very friendly. Pretty bad, even for the relatively low price.

The hotel was inexpensive and my room was clean. The extra stars are for the manager Chirag who took it upon himself to make sure that I got my ipad back after I accidentally left it in my room. Not only did he return it but he didn’t charge me anything for shipping and said that he just wanted to make sure it arrived safely. I’d stay there again.

great price for what you get. i don’t think i’ll ever find myself in baltimore again, but if i do. i wouldn’t object to staying here again.

Recently, I returned to this fine motel. I thought it was and still is good value. The property is well-​maintained, the staff has been very helpful to me, and considering the price per night the breakfast was quite good. There is a free shuttle to and from the BWI airport, Light Rail Station, and Amtrak-​Marc Station. By public transportation from the BWi Airport Light Rail Station, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the center of Baltimore and the city’s interesting Mount Vernon district.

I have to agree with most of the comments here. You get what you pay for, which is great on a student budget (less than $ 60 with a AAA discount), but I was hyper-​aware for my entire short 7hr stay about touching surfaces, linens, etc. Towels were either stained or burned. The tv was perched very precariously on top of a sloped closet and I was honestly afraid it would slip down.
The only good things were the efficient customer service and shuttle service. My driver was friendly and extremely punctual. Make sure you get to the lobby before your scheduled shuttle arrives… it pulled up 5min before scheduled and left on the dot. The airport is about 5 min away.
I was also grateful for their free WiFi, good enough for video chat.
In all, a little subpar but considering price and proximity to the airport, worth it for short stays.

I had originally booked a hotel in Towson because it was close to my friends wedding but because the rating there was so bad, I switched to this hotel because it was closer to the airport to save me on the travel costs. But starting to think I should have taken the risks up there. Next time, I’ll trust the reviews and put out the extra money for a ¾ star hotel.
Anyways, the hotel clerk was always on the phone in the back room whenever I needed help. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t good. The wireless internet was dial up speed at best. The bedsheets had cum stains, the carpet was dirty, but at least the bathroom felt somewhat clean.
And I lucked out on the hotel shuttle. It took like 5 minutes to get picked up from the airport. And when I asked the hotel clerk the next day for a ride to the car rental place, she said it’d take 40 minutes. But thank god she didn’t know what was going on, because when I walked outside the shuttle was there waiting to go.

The hotel clerks were nice, but they were the only nice aspect to this hotel. I had low expectations — just needed a clean place to crash for the night before heading off to Baltimore and D.C. After nine hours of travel, I arrived to no non-​smoking rooms available (despite my having reserved one). Not only did the room stink of cigarettes, but when I went to turn on the air conditioner, the previous occupant had stuffed cigarette butts inside the unit. Not the fault of staff, but someone should have cleaned up better.
They did switch me to another room, which reeked less, but even at the discount rate of $ 65/​night, I expect a little better as far as cleanliness. I was glad to leave — except the lack of nearby transportation on weekends (despite the clerk’s assurances that a bus would arrive to take me to the light rail) meant I eventually had to call a cab to get to my destination (Baltimore’s Hampden area), which the clerk thought would cost $ 20, but actually cost $ 35. So much for savings! If I’d known then what I know now, I would’ve used my funds toward a nicer hotel in Baltimore proper instead.

Only under the circumstance that you want a super-​cheap, not-​clean, with horrible customer service airport hotel to stay at for an early flight out of BWI the next morning would I recommend this place.
We waited for 45 minutes at the airport for Microtel to pick us up with its free shuttle (it never showed after repeated phone calls with staff assuring us it would ‘be there very soon’), and finally took a cab instead. When we asked management what they’d be willing to do (a discount perhaps?) to make up for this poor customer service they said «oh no, we don’t do that.»
After we finished checking in that afternoon and went out to downtown Baltimore for the afternoon/​evening, we returned to the hotel at night to find our key cards wouldn’t work. So, we asked the front desk staff (different person than who was there at check-​in) to re-​program our key cards, which they did without asking for any form of identification. We could’ve been posing as guests trying to steal items from rooms. Pretty unnerving.
If all you want is super-​cheap and don’t care about cleanliness (the rooms are disgusting) or customer service, then this is the place for you.
