Just saw I had this in Draft so I posted it. The place is closed now though. Probably the best chinese buffet I’ve had recently. I went for lunch and there are so many choices. There are over 30 kinds of sushi to choose from and all of it tastes fresh not fishy. Another person said it was hot sticky the restaurant I did not have that experience at all. There are lots of hot dishes to choose from as well. Give it a try.

food was good until i went up to get some sushi, there were flies in the sushi. I tried waving someone down to let them know but seems like nobody speaks English. The cashier looked like she was 12 years but overall if i hadn’t seen any flies then i prolly would have gave it 3 stars.

I wasn’t surprised to see the place shut down. Food was horrible. Called themselves a sushi place but sushi guy refused to keep sushi plates full. Their other place in Naperville will follow the same route shortly. That place has been getting pathetic reviews for quite some time too.

Sad to see the Kobe has CLOSED. Stopped by for a Valentine diner on Feb 15 with my wife and discovered it was closed. :( When they first opened, I gave this place a positive review and they were fairly busy. I did noticed that overtime the quality seemed to decline and they were no longer nearly as busy. As «China» buffet places go, this was one of our favorites even though it was a bit pricy. That might be part of the reason they lost business. I’ll miss it. It looks like they closed up suddenly as they still have promotion signs posted in the windows, but blinds are drawn and lights are out. Looks like the place is up for lease.

LYINGLIARS!!! My mom reserved the party room for Saturday, January 18th. When she went there on the 18th, she found that the restaurant was CLOSED with absolutely NONOTICE from the business owners. If I could put NEGATIVE stars I would, but one star is the lowest Unilocal will let me rate. One star is too high of a rate for these LIARS! This so called«business» and its«business owners» almost ruined my mom’s birthday/retirement celebration. However she was able to quickly put a party together and enjoy her celebration! No thanks to these SCUMBAGS!

Very fresh food, good service, a clean place, because every time I go feel very comfortable with upscale restaurants, they are very expensive to produce, although every time I eat a lot of very full, but never worried about my stomach uncomfortable, because their food is easy to digest, I’ll be back.

For the money the place is a great buffet, very very friendly staff, manager was super nice and asked me questions about the buffet and if her could change anything to make it better for customers. It is more of a seafood buffet compared to a Chinese buffet. Been back since finding it!!!

Kobe Hibachi Sushi Buffet is an Asian Buffet located off of Roosevelt Road in Lombard. Having passed by it several times one Friday evening I decided to stop in and give it a try. The inside is clean and well decorated and the overall feeling of the place could best be described as lively. After walking in and being seated I soon headed for the Hibachi area, they had quite a few different items that can be prepared at the Hibachi and I went for noodles, egg, shrimp, some imitation crab meat and some pork. After quite a bit of waiting these were ready, I picked some soy sauce and some hot sauce. I noticed when cooking the griller added additional soy sauce to all the orders while they were on the grill. The overwhelming taste of everything cooked on it was soy sauce. I also tried some of the regular buffet items, quite frankly I couldn’t find a single thing that I «liked». However, I did notice that for an additional five dollars on Fridays, you can purchase a lobster. A week later I returned, not really to try the lousy buffet food, but to try the five dollar additional charge lobster and give the hibachi grill another try. I initially thought they were cooking the lobsters right out of the little tank area you seem them in, but no. I ordered the lobster right when I came in and it was out within a minute or two. I decided to go for it steamed. This lobster was very shrunken on the inside, almost as though it was over-steamed to the point of being boiled. This was just not prepared very well. For the price it’s hard to get any lobster, but I was overall unimpressed(but considering the quality of the other food here not surprised) with the lobster. On visit number two I did visit the Hibachi again and had slightly better results possibly due to a different person grilling and the fact that they didn’t add additional soy sauce. This was better, but still well below a lot of the other hibachi and hot wok places I’ve visited. Overall I was unimpressed with Kobe Hibachi Sushi Buffet, better options exist in the area and if I wasn’t so curious about the five dollar lobster deal I would not have made a second visit. While not terrible, I wasn’t impressed by anything but the somewhat adequate hibachi food. Unless you’re really hungry and not willing to drive further than here, save your money and stop elsewhere.

Senior discount :-) to save you n ur loved one some money. Very clean, even had lemonade and hi-def tv’s for the sports fans. Food was a little dry The friendly owner was very polite n tentative to the needs of the dinners.

The interior look new and very clean, foods look good and are delicious… $ 9 lunch buffet which includes sushi and hibachi, you can get $ 2 discount per head if you have coupon. Services is Okay, i think that is bcz some1 does not give tips, not me :)), but they keeping clearing your plates from table, better than some other buffets, this is enough.

It has a $ 9 lunch buffet which includes sushi and hibachi if you want it. Their variety is what struck me most. Every kind of protein you could imagine, and several different fish varieties. Let’s face facts, the days of getting 5 star buffet food ended several decades ago, and right now your choices are limited. All in all this wasn’t a bad meal. The hibachi was odd, the sauces were low, but the selection in vegetables and proteins were nice. Everything looked fresh [we came at 11:30 to beat the rush] and everyone in there was very kind. If you do get hibachi, and want egg, make sure you tell them to crack the egg(s) and cook it WITH everything else. I am not kidding when I tell you, that I got a nice hibachi plate, and 2 fried eggs on the side LOL. I had to chuckle, it must have been a new cook thing. There are 2 tip jars, one at the hibachi station and one at the sushi station. I don’t like them and ignore them, because it’s no different than starbucks. I’m not going to tip you to do your job, you aren’t my waitress which I always leave a few dollars for. All in all, a decent meal at a fair price.

Two stars is a bit of a stretch on this one. As others have mentioned the place is clean and all looks as you would expect. The staff was friendly, and there certainly is a lot to choose from — I had high hopes. As I walked the buffet line to get a sense of what the offered I was impressed. Lot’s of choices, the food(mostly) looked good and it wasn’t the standard silver pans full of food. But that’s were the good part ends for me. They had large white, rectangular plates over the hot water to keep things hot. Unfortunately the escaping steam made the tongs REALLY hot — and more than once(I guess I didn’t learn my lesson) — I had to drop the tongs for fear of burning myself. Not really a good set up for a public that has to serve themselves. As for the food(and we went on a Monday night which may not have been a good idea) — the food was dried out, fairly bland and(especially given how hot the tongs were) — the food WASN’T hot by the time I got to the table. I was really hoping I would like things here as it’s close to home and reasonably priced. I think part of the problem was they’re trying to offer a wide variety(good for a buffet) — but I would rather have half the choices and have them be delicious(and hot). Ehh. I think we’ll stick to our local hole in the wall Chinese carry-out.

It must be my Chinese buffet month. Three buffet in a row: Royal buffet at Downers, Kobe at Aurora, now Kobe at Lombard. Definitely done with with my buffet quota for the whole year if there is one. My friend told me this brand new Kobe buffet out of Lombard which is from the same chain as in Aurora. Thought the newer ones always better. We headed to there last weekend. The interior looked new and very clean. However, their food was not as nice as the décor. They do have lots of similar dishes as Aurora one but we all thought the Aurora ones tasted better. The lobster cooked differently. You could see the half cut lobster there but hardly any meat which I suspect those were not fresh. My favorite veggie dishes were not as good as another Kobe. Bok choy was too tough to chew. The stir fried spinach was not offered. Kind of disappointed. Another my favorite Lamp soup was missing as well. Tried seafood soup and chicken soup which both were too salty. They did have more dessert options than Aurora Kobe but I was not impressed anything of those. Green tea ice cream bucket was empty. And the chocolate ice cream cups were gone and didn’t get replace after we mentioned it. Even my kids said the Aurora one was better from what they typical eat from a Chinese buffet. The services were fine as the used dishes were taken away promptly. They charged 10% of service fee on our party of 12. For whatever reason, the path to the restroom was quite slippery. Needless to say that we were dissatisfied with this new establishment.

After months waiting for the new KOBE Hibachi | Sushi | Seafood Buffet to open, we were happy to go by yesterday(Mar 9) and find it had opened. A lot of remodeling had been done to transform the previous Old Country Buffet. Inside we found the décor attractive and clean. O.K., so much for the plus points. We go to restaurants to eat, not oogle over the décor. First trying the Hot Sour soup, a favorite, I found it to be more warm than hot — one of the least spicy Hot Sours I have had. Next some Cocoanut Shrimp with the texture of a marshmallow. Seeing Abalone and Pan Fried Whelk had me intriqued. Unfortunately both should have been labeled«Goodyear» for their texture. Tempura was tasteless and greasy. Actually everything we tried was bland, such as the fried shredded cabbage logs(Egg Rolls!), and Spring Rolls that were all wrap with a pencil lead center of… cabbage! Blah. Oriental Buffets are all the hot thing right now, as they sprout up like so many mushrooms. Unfortunately they are cookie cutter chains — mediocre, flavorless fare that is the same just about anywhere you go. Unless they happen to have a salad bar and or fresh fruit, nothing tastes fresh. I would guess the steam table trays retire to a walk in fridge for the night, to be reheated the next day, ad infinitum.

If I were offered a million dollars to eat here again, I would hesitate. And probably refuse. Having grown up in a truly middle-class Asian family with easy access to the beautiful, flavorful bounty that the Orient can provide, I can say this place is an abomination. The food sucked Ebola-ridden monkey balls. I could SMELL how poor the quality was. Potstickers, egg rolls, chicken teriyaki, chicken broccoli, Mongolian beef, tilapia, and grilled salmon were all tasteless and lifeless. Oily lo mein and strangely crunchy fried rice were equally disheartening. Even the miso soup, perhaps the easiest thing in the world to make, was bland and accompanied by petrified scallions sliced so long ago that they actually hurt my teeth. And in no universe could the sushi be called even mediocre. Bad, just bad. Our empty plates sat waiting for far too long to be carried away by uncaring waitstaff who barely spoke English. These people must seriously be fresh off the boat. I’d tell you that Kobe attempts to dumb down Asian food to what Midwesterners think it should be, but to say that this place makes an attempt at anything other than to cheat you out of your money would be too generous. I have only eaten Panda Express once in my life(chalk it up to peer pressure from Caucasian friends), and that awful experience was ten times better than this one. Stay away so that they go out of business, for your sake and mine.

I’m no seafood fanatic but I’ve had it enough times to know when its bad. It was cold and tasted uncooked. One thing that really got to me was the fact that most of it was not prepared or cleaned properly. I got what was labeled as mussels but looked like a clam to me with the genitalia and grit and what looked like seaweed(see pic). Immediately lost my appetite. When I asked the manager about it he said I must not eat seafood very often and said it was normal. Also, everything is sticky, except for the floor which feels like it’s been rubbed down with a coat of Crisco.

We have been waiting for this place to open for a while. We finally made it in today for lunch. We were very impressed. The place is elegantly done and looks very clean. The food is authentic and delicious. There are all the buffet items you are used to and some you may not have ever seen if you didn’t grow up eating Asian food. The dim sum is pretty good, as well. But the all you can eat sushi will keep me coming back. No California rolls here! The real deal. The sushi rice is perfect. Not too sweet, and not too bitter. I am a huge fan of Kobe as far as buffets go. If you appreciate Asian food for more than egg foo yung and egg rolls(both of which I did not see), you will want to check this place out!
