The coffee was a bit strong for my liking but good and the barista was very kind. She answered a few of our touristy questions with a smile on her face and chatted our young daughters up while we waited for our drinks. They offer free wifi and it was the only spot on the island that I got a sliver of service(sprint.) but that was quite alright since that’s the whole attraction to Lopez really. To get away.

Im sure the drinks are decent but we wouldnt know. The barista is cold and unwelcoming. After being ignored standing at the counter and barely acknowledged in taking my order, we werent in the mood to hang around for our drinks. There are much kinder places to spend your time on the island. Too bad really.

I don’t like to leave below average reviews, but this place was not up to par. My husband I went to the other coffee shop earlier in the day, and maybe that was a mistake before coming here. The first place was so friendly and the beverages so good, that we could be nothing but disappointed here. I ordered a chai for myself and a mocha for my husband. The barista barely made eye contact with me, was not very friendly, and I had politely asked for no foam, and she said, «Well it comes with foam»… I looked at her and said, «Well, if you can please leave it off, that would be great». There was about an inch of foam on top, my husband’s mocha was unbearable, so he didn’t even drink it. Don’t waste your money. The other place across the street is worth waiting in line for.

Robert runs a tight ship, let’s be honest. He’s the nicest guy, has great recommendations, and every drink I’ve gotten here has hit the spot. I tried one of their home-brewed seasonal drinks earlier today, a raspberry truffle hot chocolate, and good LORD it was one of the most delicious(and obscenely decadent) drinks I’ve had in a long time. Kiiiiiinda ashamed to admit I’ll probably be going back for another one tomorrow. Always a treat, always full of friendly locals, and always worth your time if you’re on the island.

This cute little coffee shop was such a pleasant surprise. I’ll have to admit that I am a bit of a coffee snob and was a little concerned when we decided to spend two weeks on the island. This coffee house not only has fantastic coffee, it also has a charming atmosphere and over the top friendly staff. Great job of bringing big city coffee and service to this quaint little community.

The only reason we went here was the other coffee shop was so busy we did not want to wait, and there was nobody here but the owner… Terrible Coffee and an owner that sports a serious tude. I had my usual americano and had to pour it out, the flavor he added was terrible, and the coffee was awful. My wife had the cappaccino and she said it was the worst she had ever had as well. Next time I will go to the other coffee shop. By the way the raters are wrong he does not serve Graffeo anymore; he serves a coffee from Orcas Island… yuk!

Caffe La Boheme is the best café. End of story. The coffee itself is great. The chocolate is amazing. Unless you hate chocolate get chocolate in your drink and if you are truly a chocolate fanatic get the Italian sipping chocolate(with whipped cream). There are always seasonal flavors including the ever popular salted caramel latte, cinnamon roll latte and gingerbread latte. No drip coffee but you would be doing yourself a disservice getting that given the options. Prices aren’t the cheapest(cash or check only) but you do have to remember that everything on an island is more expensive and Robert only buys the best for his customers. The owner, Robert, and the baristas who work for him(Suzanne, Jan and Lindsay as of summer 2011) are some of the nicest people. If you visit during the summer please understand that they are serving hundreds of people each day and it can be rather stressful on island in comparison with the rest of the year. There are always maps of the island in the café and the bulletin board at the back is kept fairly up to date. The decorations are tasteful and the art on the walls is by local artists. In a lot of ways the café(referred to as either the café or Robert’s) is a locals spot because it is a great spot to relax and bump into friends and catch up on gossip. But I recommend the store to anyone. If you stick around and read while drinking your coffee and eating your Holly’s baked goods(right next door, closed in the winter but amazing baked goods) you will definitely get a taste of local flavor. All in all I cannot say enough good things about Caffe La Boheme. Go visit and be friendly and nice! As the sign hanging in the café says: «If you can’t be kind at least have the decency to be vague».

Robert makes you feel like a local from the get go, even when you’re only able to be here a few times a year … delicious espresso and SERIOUSLY the BEST Mocha imaginable. The Italian sipping chocolate is the soul of the place, that, and Robert of course! The delicious dark Italian sipping chocolate takes a mocha, which is usually too Hersheys or too sweet for me and other fellow Lopez café goers, to the land of an enlightened pleasurable experience! Can’t wait for my next hit!

Take a boat, grab a coffee, and wonder why Starbucks is tainting the world when there are options like these guys. Grab a snickerdoodle from Holly B’s next door too.

This place has it all: great coffee(they serve Graffeo coffee from San Francisco), warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly locals and even spirited discussions perfect for a small coffee shop. I had a moment in here; a moment of pure bliss when I overheard a couple of the locals passing by one another in the shop. Instead of the typical mindless chit-chat, they started a discussion about socialism and how Americans feel about socialism. It was completely unexpected and refreshing on a lazy Sunday morning.
