Fantastic Sams Hair Salons

I have been trying to look for another hair dresser had no luck until i found this place. I met Martha, she was so nice n friendly, made me feel so welcoming. Took care of me as a walk in client. I think I just found my new hair dresser. I will definitely be back. Thanks Martha!!!

Came in on the fly to get my daughters hair cut. No appointment and we walked right in. That was nice, considering we were killing time. Veronica did an amazing job. My daughter is very sensitive to people pulling her hair and within minutes she said «Mom, I like this place. She is not hurting me!» Yes! And the simple trim looks great. Veronica really took her time to make sur e it was cut properly (she has thick adult like hair). Thanks Veronica for a great experience! We will be back!

Patty (Patricia) has cut my hair several times — it always looks good afterward. Today, I asked her to help me in preparing a hair donation. I got the most amazing haircut. I absolutely love coming here. I have always gotten the best cuts here :)

They had a sign that said «sale off haircuts»
So I walked in and I asked the woman what the sale was, she replied it was two dollars off any haircut. She asked me to put my hair down so that she can check the length and she would then give me a price, she told me I had extra long hair so they would charge me $ 22.95 minus $ 2 off for «the sale» I find it weird that nowhere on their menu did it say «extra long hair» they had three options short medium and long, however because I asked for the sale they decided to up my price just to bring it back to their normal price. I said OK and agreed. Once the stylist was washing my hair she kept bringing up the price commenting on how some people don’t want to pay and that she normally charges $ 25, was very uncomfortable because I had already agreed to pay what they asked me. Well I should’ve walked away then because once my hair was shampooed the stylist took it upon herself to just start snipping my hair she did not ask me what I wanted she literally just started cutting my hair. I was not happy with my haircut at all she gave me crooked short bangs that I did not like at all. I would not recommend this place to anybody if anything I would say stay away.

Went here for a trim. As far as I could tell no one spoke English well enough to understand me. I have an a-​line that I needed trimmed and the stylist I first had did not know what that was… I asked for another to cut my hair. All in all a bad experience I would not recommend this place or ever return.

First time, took my daughters to get a conditioning treatment. Cost, $ 70. Job wasn’t great, but not bad. Went back today just 5 weeks later, same request, and price went up to $ 90. When I complained, I was told they could do again or «a little less». Job was horrible and was told «what a great deal» I got. Horrible. Like so many other’s experience – it is a substandard shop and I encourage anyone to go elsewhere.

This place is great, specially Martin. My son comes here at least 2 – 3 times a month to see Martin for haircuts since he is in ROTC. He is happy every single time. He does not want to go anywhere else but Fantastic Sams in Los Alamitos.

I must admit, I was hesitant about coming here when I saw the 3.5 rating, but my hair was in desperate need of both a wash and cut before heading to my friend’s engagement party later that night. I don’t know what has happened between the bad reviews and the most recent reviews, but whatever it is keep it up because this place was great. The salon was clean, the receptionist was friendly (even offered me a cup of water, a small gesture but one which made me forget I was in a Fantastic Sams), and my cut was just exactly what I wanted (thank you Martin for my layers). While I expected my first review on Unilocal to be for some fancy LA restaurant or bar, I have no shame that it is instead for this friendly salon.

My family and I have been going to this Fantastic Sams for almost 20 Years. Not only a great value buy the people there are wonderful. I have a cut and color every 6 weeks or so. Always worth the time and money. Speaking of money you will not find a better value. Friendly, knowledgeable and honest. The owner is more than attentive. She always makes sure we are comfortable and happy. I personally recommend Los Alamitos Fantastic Sams to many of my happy friends who have found out that this is the place to go.
The truth is the truth. Give this business a try. You too will go running back!

I always get my hair cut there and they always do a great job last saturdayi went for a hair color change from blck to blonde patty was very knowledgeable and she walk me through the process and kept me informed during the whole time, even though it was not possible to do the blonde right now I will go back to get it done next time. The owner is also very friendly and the other women too.

Took my daughter, who is home from school for a cut and highlights, she looked amazing ! Great cut and highlights were amazing, I’m next!

My bad. I wished I had read the reviews before I went here. The lady, Rosie, that did my hair was nice but shouldn’t be cutting anyones hair. she seemed to be in a hurry, cut off way more than I requested, cut some areas as much as ½ shorter than the surrounding hair next to it and to top it off, I think charged me the higher rate. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. She even tried to trick me into giving her a larger tip. I can’t speak for the other ladies in the shop but Rosie is definitely one you want to stay away from.

ok, this requires an update. after showering to wash off the cut hair that was gelled to ol’ hot sauce’s forehead… his hair dried. this turned into a comedic representation of how NOT to cut hair. clearly the gel was used to cover up the woman’s «fantastic» lack of being able to cut hair. I mean, I did get a chuckle out of it, but that’s not why we went to fantastic sam’s. Of note, we actually had to cut his hair with clippers to get rid of the disaster residing on his head. Note to self-​cut hot sauce’s hair with the clippers from now on. Definitely DO NOT go here.

These girls are great they cut all my hairs and it still looked good. Great price and always friendly. Thanks lady’s!

I like this location, staff is friendly and Martha is the best hair stylist ever.

I went to this place to get a haircut for my daughter today 11÷3÷11 at 11am.
The feeling that I received was very unwelcoming. Two ladies were talking in the back and then one of them slowly approached while we were waiting. There was nobody in the store. This lady asked who was getting the haircut and I told her my daughter. She asked me to sign my daughter’s name in the ledger.
My daughter sat in the chair and the lady put on her gown. I explained to the lady that I wanted 2 inches off of my daughter’s hair and the hair to be bonded or layered. She asked, «How much is 2 inches?» I chuckled a little bit and said «You should know.» She quickly said «I think this is 2 inches.»
Then she started brushing her hair. I sat down and looked at my BB then after about 1 min, I looked at my daughter in the mirror and she was in tears.
I stood up right away and went to her. She grabbed me and said the lady was pulling her hair. I told the lady to cup part of my daughter’s hair, so she wouldn’t tug on it. She quickly responded, «We’ll if you know how to do it, then you can untangle her hair.» I passed on the comment, so I can show her how to do it. She quickly disagreed and stated my method would not unknot the tangles. She repeated her comment a second time. At that point, there was no more talking to this lady. She didn’t get the point that she was hurting my daughter with her method and needed to do something different. I told her that she had an attitude problem. I told my daughter to get up so we can go. The lady kept repeating her comment and then stated maybe I’d feel more comfortable if someone else cut my daughter’s hair. She quickly talked to her co-​employee in another language (one that I’m fluent in) saying that she didn’t do anything wrong and that I was just a complainer.
Fantastic Sam’s is the worst place for kids. It should go bankrupt and i will be calling Management at the highest level and telling them of the treatment of my daughter. This a notice to all folks in the Los Alamitos area to stay away from this place.
I took my daughter to Fun Cuts 4 kids in Cypress of off Katella Ave. The lady there washed my daughter’s and treated my daughter and me with respect. My daughter looked beautiful with the braids and flowers the lady had put in there.
