Yummy, fast and very nice! The only place I will be ordering my chinese food. Delivery was very quick, no spills and fairly priced for the convenience.

This place comes in on Unilocal at 3 ½ stars. That seems very fair based on the quality of food, service and value. The food is good. It’s not great or special. They are not reinventing Chinese food or anything. They are just serving okay Chinese food. The woman who served me took so long to even bring me a menu or come to the tv ale that I had to go get one myself so they lose points there. Finally I have to say that it’s overpriced. I was trying to defend the prices in my head and imagine what rent must be on that nice stretch of Beverly but it can’t be that bad.

Delicious food, but in all fairness it’s pricey. I think they need to be a $$ not a $. Lower prices greater frequency.

Food is good as I had it once before so I ordered again. Special prices are fair, delivery has had me waiting 1.5 hours so far. well I am writing this and its actually not here yet… but they said they were on the way almost 30 minutes ago and they are 5 minutes from my house(1 mile) so you cant trust what they say either. If time is of value to you, this is not the place to get delivery. No apology, no discount, just microwaved food as I they assured me it would be hot but physically that isn’t possible in this situation without a microwave. update: I actually had to cancel. Then as I was leaving to go get food pretty upset the guy showed up. Final delivery time 1 hour 32 minutes.

Do not let the simple exterior fool you! This place makes tasty quality Chinese food! I am from the midwest and it’s always a challenge finding Chinese food prepared the way it is there. Highlights: 1. They make their egg drop soup with just the egg and soup, no veggies 2. Sweat and Sour is the nice fluffy fried white piece chicken 3. Fried rice is the flavorful, rich variety 4. They offer BBQ chicken and rib tips MOSTIMPORTANTLY… they will be offering ALMONDCHICKENPREPAREDMIDWESTSTYLESOON!!! Also known as «Detroit Style.» To start, as a twice a week special. This is the Almond Chicken that is the sliced fried white chicken piece, slathered in gravy over a bed of shredded lettuce covered in almond dust/slices. So give them a try! Ask for the Almond Chicken! They are on as well as other delivery services too!

This is a tough one to write as this is my neighborhood Chinese take-out joint. Tonight I had their Singapore Noodle soup with chicken, pork and shrimp. It was ok, possibly good, yet nothing to write home about. I usually have soups here that are fair to good. The folks here are really nice and I feel good supporting a small neighborhood business. So even if the food is not all that great I come here anyhow. While they do not have roast pork egg foo young on the menu they will make it upon request. And, ironically it may be the best item here. Prices are high for Chinese take out. They charge 25% more than they should which is why they are never busy. There is another Chinese take out joint 3 blocks west on Beverly that charges 40% less. This is really a 3 star restaurant; however, I am giving them 4 stars because they are incredibly nice people and do try. I do want them to stay in business. Come here for the roast pork egg foo young. Experiment as some dishes are good and some have issues. You will be treated nicely and the service will be exceptional on every visit. The place is very clean as well.

Real Chinese food being served here. My personal test is when a restaurant has salt and pepper pork then it passes the Real Chinese Food test in my brain. The owner is really friendly and even though I only go here for pick up, she still makes it a point to talk to me and suggest what I should order. The one thing that sets this place apart is their attention to detail. Their to-go containers are double wrapped in clear plastic bags to prevent spilling. They pack your food so neatly it’s insane. They place your order in a bed of shredded cabbage and surround it with steamed broccoli. They arrage the broccoli like the chef has OCD. No food smudges or what have you. I know this is not that important but it makes you feel that they really take care of your order. Taste wise, it’s great too. They have the best salt and pepper pork in town.

This place is terribad… the food is OKAY but I recommend ONLY going here for lunch specials. I just paid $ 27 bucks for half the food that should have been included. Outrageous prices for the food provided. I ordered take out and paid $ 27 dollars(including tax) for two items, and the boxes used for takeout are PINTS! exorbitant prices for american chinese food with small portions. I mean, really? If I was a chinese food shop and every main item was $ 10.95 minimum, i would expect not to be so stingy… Stay away… there are plenty of other locations with the same quality of chinese food for half the price. Mandarin Kitchen(zip 90025) is about 4 miles away from this place and offers a great deal more bang for buck. I’m chinese, and I’ve been to tons of chinese restaurants/takeout places before and this one is just plain pathetic! My take on things is, if you pay more than $ 25 dollars for takeout chinese food, it should be enough to feed 2 people… in my case, it was not. take my freaking $ 27. Last time I order from this expensive average chinese food place. anyone who knows anything about chinese food knows this is a rip off…

Chinese food to the East Coast is as Mexican food on the West Coast. It is hard to find a good fish taco in boston like its hard to find some good fried rice in LA. Turns out the husband and wife come from a little friendly town in Ohio, where their concept remains the same in the busy unpersonable city of LA. High quality food, freshly prepared and served up by friendly people. We went in not expecting much, being from San Diego and just went to whatever chinese place was closest to the Price is Right, and some how we lucked out. Newly opened China Chef– go figure, has legit food! We had… just about everything haha. Beef and broccoli, Orange Chicken, Kung Pow Chicken, pork fried rice and some apps. It was all delicious and the woman, the owner, loves to chat! she would have kept us in there all night! haha. she’s so cute and friendly! You can tell she misses her friendly partons back East. Give China Chef a try, I doubt you’ll be disapointed. We may not have had luck on the Price is Right, but we lucked out finding China Chef :)

Overall, not bad. I did a takeout order here because it’s so close to my office, and I got the chicken with fresh mushrooms lunch special that came with rice, an egg roll, hot and sour soup. The portions were very generous and the food didn’t taste as starchy as other Chinese restaurants. Don’t take your date here. The décor is definitely lacking. However, for take out and delivery, I might try this place another time.

Owners Ling and her chef husband bring midwestern warmth and fresh Chinese cuisine to this eatery.(They just settled in LA from Ohio). Loved the vegetable soup and brown rice. Meat and seafood veggie plates a specialty, all with freshest ingredients

I love their wonton soup. Big pieces of shrimp, chicken. Plenty of veggies. This is the only thing I get when I go. Update… They have remodeled the restaurant, and revamped there recipe for the Wonton soup and it is horrible. The shrimp and chicken are gone, and the wontons taste like old fish. Leaves a horrible after taste. You can tell they were trying to cut back the cost. Smh! Needless to say I requested a refund and will not be back.

My husband and i finally tried a new place for take out! We haven’t had Chinese food in years. Every time we plan to order we end up getting Thai or Indian food from out regular go-to places. But tonight we mixed things up and we were not disappointed. We ordered online — nice and easy. Paid by credit card — $ 30 for 2 dinners, 2 soups, brown rice, and eggrolls. The food was delivered fresh and hot within 30 minutes by a very pleasant man. And we ate everything we ordered. We probably could have saved some for lunch but we were hungry tonight and the food was tasty. I’m a vegetarian and my hubs ordered veg too so we could share: kung pao tofu and a mixed vegetable with tofu. Both dinners were fabulous. The kung pao wasn’t overly spicy but had a nice kick, which was perfect b/c we asked for it mild. The mixed vegetable had a nice array of crispy veggies including lots of broccoli(my favorite) and the sauce we very tasty. And for the finale — white chocolate covered fortune cookies!!! We will definitely order from China Chef again: O)

2.5 stars I’ve been here twice since it changed hands — and added the Hawaiian food to the menu. And the food slipped in my opinion — to deduct 1.5-stars seems harsh, but on the last occasion the Singapore fried needs was spoilt, but well, spoilt cha siu pork. You could taste it was old. The Hawaiian chicken katsu with rice and macaroni isn’t really cooking, but granted — the chicken was a good cut and fried nice and crispy. The owner tries hard to please his customers. When we were kept waiting(some cashier register delays?) he offered us free sweet-n-sour soup. I think this place does better with the lunch time as on a Saturday evening it wasn’t busy and it doesn’t seem to have a lot of delivery requests.

Tick-tok, tick-tok… Is it lunchtime yet, beautiful? West LA, hungray, got all day(actually, forty-five minutes and your a$$ had better be back @ the office), hoping the price you pay won’t cost you your 401K – In a landscape of Chinese cuisine populated by Mr. Chow as mayor(corrupt and pricey thought he may be) and strip-mall-residing, C-from-the-health-department-earning, cut-rate Chinese takeout places as steamed-rice-and-circuses members of the masses, it’s difficult to stand out. Difficult, but not impossible, as China Chef Restaurant proves — somehow traipsing the fine line that distinguishes the stereotypical, cheap Chinese takeout place on Ho-wood Blvd(complete with obligatory addicts and whinos in the parking lot), and the somewhat glitzier but still casual Asian-fusion places that sprawl across Los Angeles from Restaurant Row to San Pedro to Skid Row. (Maybe not Skid Row…) China Chef is good! Not first-date(«Oh the atmo is terrif!») good, but if you’re hungry and don’t want to blow twenty dollars on lunch, it suffices nicely, filling that niche in every neighborhood that has a strip mall featuring a Chinese restaurant next to a dry-cleaners(I think they’re Swedish, though) next to a sandwich shop next to a barber next to a flower stand next to a traffic cop giving me a ticket for parking in a 5 minute loading zone – @#$%!!! Excuse me a moment… Okay, I’m back. Anyway… The«default» versions of dishes aren’t overly-seasoned and may strike you as bland if you don’t specify certain wants and do-not-wants, but the helpful staff taking your order will prompt you as to whether or not you want your Kung Pao chicken mild, spicey, or suicidal, so it’s almost like you’re determining your fate like a foodphemous, less holy God, or… Zeus or whatever — and your soul will be reborn as the most delicious plate of broccoli beef you’ve ever eaten this side of a ten dollar bill. (So it’s more like you’re Buddhist…) China Chef is totally casual — go in your flip flops(I think they’re sometimes called thongs), or go in your thong. Actually, don’t do that. Alcohol isn’t available, but delivery is(though unofficially), so yeah, go ahead and rock that floss, but put a robe on when you answer the door. The parking lot is a challenge, so a heaping large portion of orange chicken and pork fried rice can be your reward(«Or not…» said your heart). The menu isn’t terribly diverse(think«Hawaiian BBQ meets Panda Express» with acceptable chemistry but not scorching romance) but China Chef’s presentation of this cliched movie is far better than average, especially considering the fact that you can comfortably feed two famished FIDM fashionistas for fifteen bucks, who prefer chopsticks to forks. That’s a lot of Fs, but China Chef gets an A from me, and also the health department. Win. Win. Except me. $ 50 parking ticket? Color me bad…(driver)…

One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to in LA hands down for the price and convenience. Went today with about 9 other people, and there was no problem pushing together three tables for us. The food came really quickly seeing as there weren’t other customers, and everyone ordered a different meal. The service was fast, and extremely efficient considering the large group. I ordered the Chicken and Cashew dish and Thai Iced Tead and would order it again, and as far as I’m told 9 of the other dishes were just as good and fulfilling to our hunger crave. Oh and their fortune cookies are amazing. They are wrapped in foil and covered with a white icing.

I was in the mood for some Chinese the other day, but I haven’t been too impressed with the Chinese food in Hollywood yet, but the trek to Chinatown is daunting to my lazy butt. So – par for the course – I headed to Unilocal to find an affordable but good place. Whittled it down to 3, and finally settled on China Chef because, while it had only 5 reviews, no one seemed to HATE it, and it was affordable and somewhat close. The outside of the building made me go, «Okay, so it’s going to be one of THESE places, just mediocre Chinese in a strip mall.» You know, it has those big photos of the meals pasted over its windows. But once you’re inside the small restaurant, it gets much more cozy and nice. The woman working was friendly but not obtrusive, and the lunch specials sounded good. They also have crab ragoon, which is how I judge a good Chinese restaurant from a bad. I LOVE crab ragoon. Anyway, we both ordered the chicken — mine was Chicken & Mushrooms and his was Chicken in Garlic Sauce, and they came out on these big plates with lots of food. The Hot & Sour soup was a little thick, but I still enjoyed it… my dish was good though bland(as it always is) and the Chicken in Garlic Sauce was very tasty.(Yes, I eat off other people’s plates… what?) I was happy with the quality of food in the place… I was expecting mediocre and it was actually quite good, so I wanted to add to the positive reviews.
