See this truck all the time. Tried 2 Kung Pao Chicken Tacos and 2 Carne Asada tacos. The Kung Pao was lackluster, not all white meat chicken and honestly not that flavorful. I would love if they tried an orange chicken taco which could be very interesting. The Carne Asada however was LEGIT. It was some of the better I’ve had in LA which is saying something. Skip the fusion and go for the standard fare and you’ll be happy you did.

I love Chinese food. I love a Latin flair to my food. I don’t like the combination. It wasn’t spicy. It wasn’t an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The portion was TINY. Not worth the $ 13 for a chicken/beef/shimp sampler. The service was slow and the staff was unfriendly. It took over an hour to order and another 45 minutes for the food. This was outside a convention. Not an experience I would ever revisit again.

First timer I was at a little event going on in long beach, there was multiple food trucks on site, At first I was skeptical about a Chinese/Mexican fusion food started checking out the menu and the chimales was just plain funny a Chinese tamale, and as I was checking out the truck I notice that the man himself Mr. Guy Fieri had visit this food truck, I was going to go on a crazy one and say give me what ever he ordered but I paused myself and ordered the nachos they were $ 8.00 but they were very well served really generous with the proportions.

Worked with Don Chow to bring them out to my workplace for lunch. The gentleman I coordinated with was pleasant to work with, no big issues there. However, we had a few issues on the day of the event starting with them arriving really late and running out of food less than 30 minutes upon opening up for service. I’m not sure if it was just a bad day for them, but we had more complaints than compliments from the staff about this truck.

I ate at this food truck when they came to the monthly Food Truck night in Long Beach and I ordered the carne asada nachos. The woman was extremely sweet and the nachos were some of the best I have ever eaten. I will definitely be on the lookout for this food truck again.

I love me some food trucks. I went to NKLA in the la brea tarpits and there was 0 ppl in line. Perfect! I ordered the burrito. I have been waiting for 20 min. 20!!! «we make it from scratch» the girl said. Oh ok. Unless u grew the beans and killed the cow, 20 min is too damn long. If i ever get my food, i may review it.

Amazing Kung Pow Chimale. Very moist. Worth every dollar. That being said, be prepared to wait in line for 30 min just to order

Yet another bad review I must write. Ugh… I hate doing this but feel it’s my civic duty to warn the other foodies in the world of poor food experiences. Well, I tried the«Dog Chow» food truck this past weekend at an event at the Rose Bowl. I never heard of this truck, but the food reminded me a lot of the Kogi Truck which had me feel all tingly inside because I loves me some Kogi. Anyways, I tried to order their taquitos …“we’re out of those” the guy says. Then I asked for the chow fun noodles…“out of those too!” So I ask, what do you have in stock that people love. The guy says the 3 taco combo plate that comes with 3 different kinds of meat(carne asada, chicken and pork with rice and beans as your side for a reasonable $ 8.00. He serves me up the plate and the first thing that catches my eye is that there are 3 little tortilla chips in the beans. Why 3? Why so little? Why not a small little bag of chips? How much is a big bag of tortilla chips…25 cents!!! Anyways, I take my first bite into the steak and it was awful. The meat was way over cooked and dry. I take a bit of the pork… it’s worse than the steak. Very chewy and questionable smell. The chicken was the last straw. My wife didn’t believe me that it was that bad so she took a bite and spit it out… and she loves Mexican food y’all. She said she didn’t think that was chicken. Well, as my mind goes running off thinking I may need to get my stomach pumped, I calm down and throw away whatever that was left. So why am I giving this place a 2 star and not a 1? Well again, I do try to find every possible thing that’s good before just slamming it. The beans and rice that were served with the combo plate were ok. Were they great… um…no. Also, the guy who took my order on the truck was also really nice. If you know me, I’m big on customer service. Other than that, this truck needs some help in the kitchen asap! Cheers!

I just had a Don Chow bowl, served on a plate. I had the Al Pastor, which was a little fatty. Nothing grosses me out more than the feel of fat in my mouth. But the salsa, rice and beans were good. Not sure I’d go again.

I can’t argue with those who complain about the service. It was slow. I ordered something straight-forward so I had no problems, but the $ 7 minimum on cc orders forced me to get a drink.(That said, the fact that my burrito was less than $ 7 to begin with is a pretty awesome deal) All that aside, I just finished the Soy Ginger Tofu Burrito and it was A M A Z I N G. It was flavorful, a great size, and an absolute steal at $ 6. Seriously, this burrito rivals anything at any food truck or taco stand in the city. Plus, it’s tofu, so it’s a win for all the veggies out there. My plan for future trips to the Don Chow Tacos Food Truck? Have a little cash, have a little patience, and enjoy!

A local church had food trucks parked in the lot so I decided to go see what was there with my bro and cousin. Out of the trucks there, the Mexican Asian Fusion was the most appealing so I decided to try this truck out. Everything was ok until I tried… emphasis on TRIED to order my food. For some reason there was something difficult with my order. My original plan was to get 2 carne asada tacos, 1BBQ pork taco, and 1 Kung Pao chicken taco which would be a total of FOUR. The lady taking down the orders: «So 2 asada and 1 pork?» Me: «No. 2 asada, 1 pork, and 1 chicken» Lady: «ok so 1 asada and 2 chicken?» Me:“No. 2 asada, 1 pork, and 1 chicken“ Lady: «So 2 asada and 1 pork?» Me: «No. I want a total of 4 tacos so 2 asada, 1 pork, and 1 chicken» Lady: «So you want 1 asada and 2 pork?» Etc etc etc. That conversation kept dragging on to where I just settled on 1 asada, 1 pork, and 1 chicken since she was so fixated on 3. To some of you this may be very petty but I don’t understand how complicated that was especially when I kept repeating myself! I don’t know how much more I could have simplified that order to make it more understandable. Whatever, if you don’t want that extra $ 2, then fine. More money in my pocket. But the best part was when she started to talk shit with the lady who was making the food saying that I kept changing my mind. No b****…that was your own damn fault for not listening! Unlike you, I’m not deaf and can hear what your saying. Besides the terrible service, the BBQ pork and asada were my fav. The chicken one was alright. Hopefully none of you have to deal with that lady. If you’re reading this post I hope you realize that you are the first one customers see and talk to. You pretty much make or break people’s opinions on the establishment. Therefore, I will take my business elsewhere because that was just plain rude and irritating.

つº oº つ RAISEYOURCUTLERY つº oº つ Let me begin by saying how high my expectations for this truck were. If you manage to get featured on a Food Network program, you’re doing something right. To make things even better, it was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I freakin’ LOVETHATSHOW! All the restaurant owners explain how to make the awesome food they sell, it’s entertaining and unpretentious. Anyway, when this truck ended up on the show, I knew I had to track it down(though it doesn’t really count as a diner, drive-in, or dive). As the name implies, they serve Mexican fusion. But the other half is not Korean? Chinese food seems to be a rarity among the trucks that are involved with Asian cuisine. I went for the three taco sampler, which cost $ 2 each. You get to choose from 7 different tacos, and I got one Carne Asada, one Al Pastor, and one Chinese BBQ Pork. As an additional option, you can add bacon and grilled onions for $.50 extra, which I definitely took them up on with the Carne Asada taco. These tacos were a one-way ticket to FLAVORTOWN. Each taco had distinct flavors, and were perfectly balanced in terms of flavor and texture. In addition to some verde salsa, the various meat in each taco kept the taco from being dry due to the sauces they came drenched in(the bacon really helped out the Carne Asada taco). What can I say, they were fantastic. And it cost me $ 6.50 altogether!!! What?! You just don’t find value like that very often. Everything is so fresh. Wikipedia told me that the guys who started this are food truck veterans, and it shows. Happy Eating!: D — The Gourmand League

I had to a wait a couple of days before doing a fair review for this truck, mainly because I was so very excited to try this truck and so I had to balance my excitement with the reality. There, I think I’m evened out now… So, I tried the long awaited Kung Pao Chicken Chimale. My first thought was… eh. But the more I thought about it, the more I really liked it! The chicken was great! Tender with just the right amount of spice and the masa was so moist and tasty! It’s really hard to get a tamale right(trust me, I made them myself for years) and this one was really delicious! Plus when you are doing a Chinese/Mexican fusion dish in a moving vehicle… this thing should have been crap. But it wasn’t, it was really a great item! I added a squirt of fresh lime and homemade chimale salsa… bonus and delicious. I bet the Chinese BBQ Pork Chimale would have been bomb too! I shared the 3 Taco Special with a co-worker; Kung Pao Chicken Taco, Chinese BBQ Pork Taco and LA Style Asada Taco… Yo ‘Sup Tacos, say hello to my mouth! They were all 3 so good!!! Different, but GREAT!!! Not Mexican tacos, no definitely not… but hey, I didn’t order Mexican tacos, they are CHINESE tacos. So original, so tasty. The combo came with the 3 tacos, rice, beans, salsa, a couple chips… plenty of food at a really decent price. Other co-workers loved the LA Asada tacos a la carte, the soy ginger shrimp tacos and the traditional Al Pastor quesadilla, everyone liked their orders. All nicely cooked, fast service, friendly guy taking orders, decent price for nice amount of food NOTE: If you order a fusion item, just get PAST the idea that it’s not a Mexican item, it’s FUSION. then you’ll realize that it’s pretty darn good. If you are eating it for Mexican, then order Mexican, if you are ordering it for an adventure, then order a fusion item and prepare your tastebuds for a Chinese/Mexican adventure! Totally kooky idea and although I love my Mexican food, I had fun having it a little kicked up with some crazy Chinese flair. Yummy stuff Don Chow, nice going! CHEERS!!!

I stopped by the Don Chow Tacos truck for lunch. I ordered the Don Chow bowl with shrimp. Its dishes are a fusion of Chinese and Mexican food. My Don Chow bowl came with rice, beans, lettuce and shrimp for $ 7. It was okay.

Don Chow’s has been a regular truck stopping by my work so I decided to give it a try… yeah I probably won’t make that same mistake twice. Don Chow is a Mexican-Chinese fusion truck which offers tacos, burritos, bowls and chow fun with either mexican or chinese inspired toppings. I tried the Don Chow Fun with Chinese BBQ Pork. First impressions is that it wasn’t all that appetizing to look it it was a huge mass of brown-ish gray-ish noodles with brown-gray meat. The only color was a bit of lettuce and tomato on top. More greens would have been nice to both perk up the look but also add some balance. As is the dish was a heavy grease bomb. All that was really there was greasy noodles and beef. The flavor was decent but in the preparation of the dish the noodles were abused and most were broken up and mashed. Portion-wise the dish was almost too much. It’s a great deal if you are hungry, as I was, but I didn’t want to finish it because of heaviness.

I was actually looking forward to eating their tacos after seeing them on Diners, Drive-in and Dive. But It was just okay in my opinion and nothing to Unilocal about. I ordered the kung pao chicken, bbq pork and carne asada. The kung pao was to sweet and didn’t even taste like traditional kung pao chicken flavors. The carne asada was kind of bland and lacked taste. Not as good as other Mexican tacos and same with bbq pork. I think this is one time that Asian Fusion doesn’t work. Maybe Don Chow needs collaborate with the Kogi guys on how to infuse Asian Mexican cuisine into tacos because there’s definitely better.

Oh @donchowtacos! What girl chases food trucks wearing high heels? This girl, obviously does haha. When my coworker mentioned that he was off to go food truck chasing at lunch time, I opted to join. I’d never tried Don Chow Tacos and wanted to check it out. The Don Chow truck was parked in a little lot that didn’t have any parking space and so we basically had to run across from the street to get to the truck.(When I say run, I do mean run because the stoplight was so quick. Who says a girl can’t run in high heels? Lol). I went with the sampler tacos for lunch. 3 tacos for $ 6. I got the Chinese BBQ pork, carne asada and the kung pao chicken. They will ask you for the level of spice that you want when you order the tacos. I chose medium and this proved to be quite spicy. The spiciest of all the meats turned out to be kung pao chicken. The extra spice on the kung pao chicken taco actually helped because the all white meat chicken taco was a bit dry. The carne asada taco was OK but the meat would have been so much better if it was more tender. It was a bit hard. The Chinese BBQ pork taco was the best one in my opinion. It was sweet, flavorful and reminded me a lot chicken adobo. If I were to go back to Don Chow, I would get the Chinese BBQ pork for my chosen meat. The tacos were OK, but I’d be want to try something else next time like the chow fun noodles. Was it worth chasing this truck in my high heels? Uh maybe but would I do it again… well next time I would wear sneakers! :)

Wanted to try out Don Chow after watching it on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives(one of the only episodes I could endure that much bleached blonde hair). Fusion food has been killed in the food truck world. But, Don Chow seemed to bring something different. Finally got to try this truck out @ the Santa Anita Food Truck Festival. They had a limited menu but of course, I got everything on it. 1) Don Chow Fun — They only had Carne Asada that day. I only tried a bit of the chow fun because I don’t eat beef. It wasn’t too oily and was pretty good. 2) 3 Taco Sampler — Since I don’t eat beef, they allowed me to get two BBQ pork & one chicken. Chicken wasn’t memorable at all. BBQ pork on the other hand was delicious. There was the sweetness that you find in traditional cantonese BBQ pork with a twist. Yummy! 3) Chimale: Got this w/BBQ pork. AVOID! Worst item I ordered. Maybe my standards are high because the first time I had tamales, they were homemade with a lot of traditional hispanic love. Maybe they just needed more of the Chimale Salsa as it was pretty dry. Overall, I’m glad I tried it. Looking over their menu offerings online, it looks like there are other menu items that weren’t offered that ARE worth trying out. So, maybe I’ll see you sometime again Don Chow!

These dudes are smart… the fact that you can add grilled onions and BACON to any one of their tacos is basically cheating to make a mediocre taco taste pretty good, kudos to Don Chow! LASTYLE Adds grilled onions and BACON. This was the best of the bunch… thanks in large part to my old friend bacon. The meat was so bland I don’t even remember what it was though. CHINESEBBQPORK I asked for all of these SPICY and barely got any heat with any of ‘em…this one was just OK. ALPASTOR This bastardized al pastor had an obscene amount of lettuce on it… I scraped half of it off to take a picture that didn’t resemble a plain lettuce taco. Here’s proof that the lettuce was in overabundance… it was trying to sneak onto my bacon taco! Who the HELL invited ALL this gawdamn lettuce to the taco party?! NOOOOOOOO!

Don Chow I will not be chowing down on your tacos ever again and you sadly made me pretty much over the fusion taco craze(except for Bool bc they Rool). Even though I saw the episode myself I am starting to question if you are the same Don Chow that was on DDD with that über annoying Guy. Sure your 3 for $ 5 is a rockin deal in the food truck world but I would have rather ate tacos from The Bell than the(pardon my language) CRAP you served up the other night at the Tuesday SaMo Food Truck Lot. The first time I had you was at SBDDAGG and it was the tail end and you were out of pretty much everything I wanted to try. I ordered what was left and became an instant fan. This time I tried you at the beginning of the evening and you had everything this go around. Lucy Y. and I ordered Carne Asada, Chinese BBQ Pork and Al Pastor. After one bite each we were like Meh. A few bites later we were like umm No Thanks. With about a bite left of each taco we trashed it. Meat was dry, chewy and bland. There was tons of flavor from the spicy salsa but that was about it. I realized this go around I didn’t order my tacos the ‘LA Way”(bacon and grilled onions) but I hardly think that would have made any difference. I have been eating tonsO tacos these days and I gotta say that Don Chow, you are being updated but not in a good way and you did not make the cut.
