Schwartz. Anyone who grew up in LA knows of their legendary chocolate danishes. I remember when they were only 50 cents, though my dad says he remembers when they were a nickel! Alas, they are now $ 2.25 each. In the more recent years, the quality of their baked goods has sadly decreased as the prices went up. Their chocolate covered danishes are usually fantastic, though I have had some bad experiences. A few weeks back I got one which tasted like it was covered in chocolate spread. I figure there was some mishap in the kitchen, and they ran out of the regular stuff and decided to substitute. Not cool. The lack of quality control is something that is sadly often apparent. All in all, they are a bit pricey, but if its a good day, the pastry will be worth the price. Otherwise… Ahhh.

My husband and I ordered a variety of pastries from the bakery as advance of our event in honor of our son, on occasion when my husband went to pick up the invitation we had nothing familiar with which we closed the invitation was there and asked if nothing had happened: I only have Rogallach, want? We are very disappointed with the service and as regular customers is even more disappointing It is very pissed us to the event and never encountered such poor level of service

I was trying to find a nice cake to bring to a dinner party. I went to Susina and they informed me that if I wanted to buy an entire cake I had to pre-order it. Wtf? You’re a bakery! Anyway, I spotted Schwartz across the street and, out of sheer desperation, ran in. I was nervous because it didn’t look like anything special. I was wrong. The women behind the counter could not possibly have been nicer and the cake and pastries I purchased were delicious. I wasn’t sure what to get so one of the women started going through each cake with me and suggesting things. I purchased the Chocolate Mousse Cake and some danishes and they were the hit of the party. Lastly, the total was $ 32.65. I had $ 32 exactly or a $ 50 bill but didn’t have the change. They told me not to worry about the change and to just enjoy my cake. I thought that was really nice. What a hidden gem!

To be fair, I haven’t set foot inside this place. I live in San Diego. I don’t need my food to be kosher, as I’m not Jewish. This review is about their amazing macaroons we received as a small thank you from some colleagues. They were so good in fact, everyone who’s tried them can’t seem to stop raving about them, and I bothered to actually look them up. They’re so good that these suckers need a voice. Nice and crusty on the outside while amazingly airy and light on the inside. Not greasy to the touch and certainly no greasy stains in the container. Almond-y flavor as other macaroons go, but the texture is what sets them apart. Whoever made them had these worked out to an art-form. I’m not even a macaroon-fanatic. I don’t normally go out of my way to buy them. I’d certainly like to try other stuff made by the same hands that made these macaroons. Hope it’s not a machine…

Believe me that I found this place by a fluke. I was looking for a Hungarian bakery. Walked into this place. Two large showcases filled with fresh cookies, and pastries. It had an old European feel to it. There’s nothing fancy inside of this place. I could hear two older ladies talking very loud behind a wall. They were discussing phone orders and this and that. I didn’t mind. I could hear their passion for the work that had ahead of them. Big orders,” 300 cookies for such and such school. Make sure we give them a 10% discount.” Then they spot me standing there. An older lady approaches me. She was very nice. I ordered the first thing that caught my eye. A chocolate croissant. It was about the size of my palm sideways. She popped it inside of a clear bag and tied it nicely. It was $ 2. No tax I gotta tell you. This croissant was goddamn amazing! It was fresh. It was amazing. I want to warn everyone that this bakery has no signs whatsoever along the exterior. None. You gotta stop here though. If you work in the area and feel the need to take a box of pastries for coworkers. This is the place that will make you the hero that morning. Please believe me.
