Super nice staff and great coffee. Took another reviewers suggestion and went for a Praline Pecan latte. So, so good. :)

I’ve been coming here for years and I really do enjoy this place. The espresso is good, but I have gotten a few drinks made incorrectly. A latte and a cappuccino are different drinks and when I’m paying $ 5 for one, I expect it to be made correctly. The coffee selection is nice; there are usually multiple varieties available to try. I will say, it can get a bit noisy and seating can be hard to come by at peak hours(nothing compared to Quills though). The ambience is kind of hit or miss. I don’t mean to sound snobbish, but when I’m spending a couple hours in a café, I like it to look nice & not have to hear P! nk and Maroon 5 playing. But once again, this is a great café with good locally roasted coffee. I would have a hard time giving it three stars, so four it is!

Just tried new protein smoothie. Peanut butter, vanilla, no added sugar. Amazing. Not a fan of the smoking area on the patio. Smoke easily wafts over to designated nonsmoking tables. Enjoying a cool beverage on the patio with your dog means exposure to second-hand smoke. But this problem is common in outdoor seating areas in this city. Coffee and indoor seating are top notch. Sincerely, a coffee snob from out-of-state.

Highland Coffee is my favorite local coffee shop. The staff is generally quick, efficient, and friendly even during their rush times. The late summer hours and a small patio make it an ideal late evening stop after dinner or a movie. My favorite hot and cold drink is the Swiss Yerba. It’s a fun take on Yerba tea that I haven’t found anywhere else in town.

Highland coffee has become one of my favorite spots in Louisville. I have seriously started a habit of going twice a day for studying or quick coffee runs. This is a must for all coffee lovers! Their homemade whipped cream is to die for. All of the baristas are fabulous but the tall guy(I think his name is Zane) is one of my favorites. He’s always so personable and seems to love his job. He always asks me about my day and just everyone in general(even the customers) is pleasant no matter what time of day it is!

The staff was super friendly, but I was just served the driest most burnt panini that I have ever had in my life… I mean the coffee is okay and the atmosphere is solid, but the food was definitely subpar.

I now know where Highland Coffee is. I have spent such a great deal of time hanging out on Bardstown Road over the years that it is remarkable to me that I have just recently become a patron of this business. This is the epitome of the local coffee shop. The food items that I have tried such as muffins, bread loafs, and cookies have always been delicious & usually prepared with healthier baking alternatives. The coffee, smoothies, and hot beverages are top notch. I have driven past Starbucks on a number of occasions to get here. What really left a lasting impression on me was the sense of community that Highland Coffee has created. I have never seen less than twenty people in the shop at one time. With ample seating for all, I observed customers(some that knew each other and some that clearly just met) in ways that I only thought happened in the movies. A couple of guys pulled up a seat to join in on a chess game that was set up at a group’s table. A crowd of six friends were catching up at the end of the work week. A young, nervous couple were on their first date. A woman was getting advice on updating her resume by the stranger she was sitting next to that took a break from reading her novel. A couple of dudes that were smoking outside were discussing conspiracy theories and politics. For those that may not know where Highland Coffee is, look right next door to Urban Outfitters.

BESTCOFFEEPLACEEVER! This is my go to spot when I get the coffee urge. It’s 10x better than any other coffee house(including Starbucks). They have so many unique drinks, and a rotating list of seasonal drinks to choose from. They also have so many different kinds of homemade whip cream to choose from. I personally love their toasted marshmallow one the best. I would recommend their peanut butter mocha free(it’s like a frap but better) or blackberry Swiss mocha!

I was frankly shocked at today’s visit, because my other visits to this coffee shop have been so rewarding. Went in with my father after a trip to Carmichael’s Bookstore down the street, specifically bypassing Heine Bros for a different, bardstown unique atmosphere. I have terrible anxiety, and I’d been having a hard time, so I was hoping to sit down and enjoy my drink and a treat with my dad on a lazy tuesday afternoon, but my efforts were thwarted when, as I was looking over the pastry cabinet, a pushy barista asked if we were ready to order, even though we were not standing close to the register. We said we needed a minute, and he proceeded to motion us towards paper versions of the menu board(which didn’t have all possible drinks listen on them) taking the only other waiting customer’s order and then looking at us like«now what?» We went to order, and since I felt rushed and didn’t have time to pick what I really wanted, I ordered a chai(barista rudely made me repeat my order) and no food. Everyone on the other side of the bar was super nice, one barista even complimented my hair, but we left as soon as our drinks came up. Definitely wasn’t worth it. My chai tasted like warm milk.

By far my favorite coffee shop in Louisville! They have a quaint shop on Bardstown that can be hard to find, but once you do you will be sooo glad! The atmosphere is electric with fun colors and music. I love to come here and try different coffee flavors. They also make homemade whip cream which is AMAZING. They have great alternatives to dairy for your coffee and always have a lot of yummy looking sweets baked fresh. Great quality that can’t be beat!

The service is always friendly, and the atmosphere always makes me want to sit and stay a while. Don’t miss this place if you’re in the highlands.

I know where Highland Coffee is. There is no lack of unique, local coffee spots along Bardstown Road, and Highland Coffee is definitely worth a visit. I’d been several times in the past, but recently stopped in when I decided that I needed a pastry on a weekend morning. Nothing else would do, and — for some reason — Highland Coffee struck me as the place to go for it. For those of you who don’t know, it’s behind the Urban Outfitters on Bardstown Rd. Parking is ample in a private lot, and there’s a good amount of outdoor seating on the patio in front of the coffee house. Inside, it has a converted industrial feel, with high ceilings showing exposed ductwork, and a bare floor. It somehow still feels cozy, maybe because the employees are all so very friendly. There is plenty of seating indoors at the tables around the joint. I met someone here once for a professional get-together, and we were able to carry on our business-related conversation relatively unbothered by the other patrons or the noises of the latte and cappuccino machines. My blueberry muffin from the other weekend was delicious, by the way. Moist, sweet, and hit just the spot that needed a little fill-up in my stomach. Go find where Highland Coffee is for yourself, and you might also find a new favorite place to boot!

This is one of my favorite local places and the staff is always a pleasure. It has been around since I was a kid, but I didn’t start going there until several years ago. It is a small, locally owned coffee shop and they definitely support other local businesses. Their pastries are made locally and they have locally made art hanging up on the walls. I love that they have ale 8, and all the handcrafted beverages I have had there have been awesome! It is a little pricey, but well worth it. The matcha smoothie is good, the peanut butter smoothie is good, the mango iced tea with honey and lemon(they melt the honey with a bit of hot water so that it blends perfectly into the tea), the cherry almond mocha with blackberry whipped cream, and the hot chocolate are all amazing! P. S. They have different flavored whipped creams– try the toasted marshmallow! They also have different cupcakes every day. Check the pastry case :)

I used to frequent this place quite a bit more than I do these days but it’s still a favorite. I’m not a coffee drinker but I’m really into tea and they have lots of yummy ones and awesome muffins and scones and stuff fresh baked. It’s also a good place to catch up with a friend or sit on your laptop and get some stuff done. The owners are super friendly too.

This place is awesome! First of all, everything here is delicious, from their drinks to their snacks. Secondly there is an expansive menu, you’ll want to get everything and spend forever looking at the menu unless you have a usual. Thirdly, they have a ton of vegan and gluten free options, so all you health conscious people come on by! Everything was truly great. My sisters also spent hours here hanging out and working. So a good spot for that as well!

Highland Coffee is my absolute favorite coffee joint in the city. I’ve spent every year of my college career coming to this place to study and get my caffeine fix. They have a very large inside for a coffee shop with plenty of seating and outlets if you’re going there to study or work. They do play music overhead which drowns out others’ conversations which is a nice part of the environment. When it’s warm I always choose to sit in their outside area, although if smoke bothers you I would not suggest sitting outside. There’s almost always someone out there smoking, but that does not bother me or take away from the feel of the place. They have a great local feel with art and photography along the walls that I believe is all by locals. The baristas are all incredibly friendly and always great you with a smile and small conversation if you’re willing. Two of my favorite drinks are the blended green tea and the cinnamon latte which I always get with honey in it. If you’re just looking for plain coffee, they always have a wide variety available and I’ve liked all of them that I’ve tried so far. All of their sandwiches(breakfast or lunch) and pastry items are wonderful, as well. The«I know where Highland Coffee is» motto can be found all over the city and I think it’s very important that we all know where Highland Coffee is.

Highland Coffee is definitely one local coffee shop you don’t want to miss. I’ve been on a few occasions and one of my favorite things about this place is the ambiance. On a warm day, the outdoor seating is fantastic while the inside is still very cozy. I also like the fact they have a parking lot and sneaking through the alley behind them is an easy way to get back north so you don’t have to make a left turn onto Bardstown Road. On my most recent visit, I just got the house coffee. I can’t remember the name(it was church-themed), but it was chocolate and pecan flavored. As someone who very recently started drinking coffee black, this was probably the best I’ve had where I didn’t feel like I was missing cream or sugar!

Needed to meet up with a professor for a school project. She suggested we meet here and I am glad she did. Having never been here, I almost missed the location(of course). Fortunately, I saw the street sign and turned right in time. Parking was fairly easy. Walked inside and got a pleasant vibe. Lots of different types of people all going about their business. Some studying, some typing away on their laptop, some chatting it up, one guy was even reading the newspaper! Now the noise level can get elevated easily, but not so much so that you can’t hear your neighbor. They also keep the line down with quick, efficient service. Best part about my visit: they made my sugar free vanilla latte with heavy cream instead of milk and she didn’t even blink an eye. It was delish and I was pleased they had everything I asked for.

This is my favorite coffee shop in town. Right in the middle of the Highlands. This place is great for a lot of reasons. It’s great to pop in, get your coffee, and be on your way. On the other hand of things, it’s great to grab your coffee and chill out for a while. Whether it’s surfing the net, talking to others, reading, or whatever… it’s a very nice place to relax. You’ll run in to many people from various walks of life, unlike other coffee shops. Something really needs to be said about the staff here too. Always friendly. Always helpful. Always willing to chat it up with you while you wait or while you’re paying. Out of all the coffee shops in town, I do think the coffee tastes the best here.

I really do go back n’ forth on my favorite coffee shops in this city. I will go to Quill’s and swear that it’s the best. I’ll then go to Please & Thank You and reckon that it deserves the highest praise. But you know what? I’m sticking with it. I’ve been to them all enough now to know. Highland Coffee Co. takes the cake as the best coffee shop in this city. I don’t care what anyone else says. I love the location, I love the atmosphere, I think the employees are great, the internet always works really well(a must for those of us that brings our laptops for working purposes), and they have a loyalty customer card. May not sound like much, but if you drink coffee as often as I, those little punches add up, so it’s nice to be rewarded. The extensive menu is key, though. I like going to places and asking for them to make me something that I cannot get anywhere else. Day’s and Heine Bros. are just about the only places that cannot deliver on that request. HCC, on the other hand, can bring it. Whatever you want. However you want it. Let your imagination run wild. Many other places can probably do this too, for the most part, but HCC *seemingly* has more of an ability in this area. Absolutely fantastic coffee shop. Extensive menu and wonderful atmosphere. The coconut & coffee blended freeze is a must-have, if you want that cold drink.
