Sad to see their location closed but I heard their Food Truck was still up and running… hope it comes back my way soon!

Literally the best grilled Cheese I have ever had. A little slow service, but the poor guy dropped our sandwich, so, understandable :) getting hungry just thinking about it. The Gouda Is INSANELY Good!

If I eat grilled cheese sandwiches away from home, this is the place I eat them. The soups are great, and the ability to customize your sandwich with a wide variety of options is nice. More than just cheese on toast, they do a great job of making a very tasty sammich. Seating can be limited in the brick and mortar location, but the outdoor seating is set off from the sidewalk such that you can comfortably enjoy your food and beer without getting walked on by passers by.

How can a local business with late night hours and the perfect comfort food not get a great review? I guess if you’re weird and don’t like cheese you might have a prob with this place. Otherwise, its the perfect pitstop on the way home after a night out.

Shakin’ my damn head so hard at the clowns sitting in their cars at the McDonald’s or Arby’s drive-thurs just two blocks down Bardstown. You big dummies. For $ 7 at those establishments, you get a value meal of greasy fries, something that resembles a burger, and sugar water. OR for $ 7 you can get a gourmet grilled cheese with chorizo, fried egg, and smoked gouda on delicious sourdough with a side of homemade sweet potato fries and a drink. The latter is what I do, truth be told, and I recommend it. Sure, gourmet grilled cheese sounds a little too cute for its own good(*ahem* Nulu), but Lil Cheezers adopts more of the late night cheap grub vibe. They’re open unitl, like, 4 a.m. or somethin’ on the weekends, and with their outdoor patio, offers the best view of the thunderdome known as the Baxter Avenue Douche District. Also, choices galore — you pick your bread, cheese, sides, and more. Don’t pass up the PBR beer cheese either. Maybe the best part. I hate ketchup. «Yo, you want tomato paste-flavored corn syrup on your potatoes?» Gross. Fuck ketchup. Lil’ Cheezer’s curried ketchup is bananas. The only ketchup that’s ever made sense to me as a condiment. If they sold it wholesale, I’d stock up my fallout shelter. Big fan.

This place lives up to the word cheesey but in the good sense of the word. Never did I think there could be so many different grilled cheese sandwhich types and flavors. With fun names like the Elvis or Legalize Marinara. They even have a smore one! Everything is made fresh and they even make their own ketchup. The novelty does not wear off.

It’s cheesapolooza. Not bad. Light and crisp sandwich. Fries were so so. Got the spicy cheddar with chicken and I added some chorizo. They have walnuts so if you have nut allergies be aware.

I’ve tried lil Cheezers a couple of times, both the food truck and the brick-and-mortar, and I was always happy with my food, but hadn’t yet had anything that just WOW’ed me. Then I had the Jive Turkey. Oh. Em. Gee. This sandwich is perfection. The gouda mixed with the creamy red pepper & basil pesto is absolute perfection. As far as the service goes, the food truckers are much more friendly, but then again they’re just handing me my sandwich either way so there isn’t much interaction. I really love the location of the brick-and-mortar…perfect for stumbling home on a Saturday night or for a short drive on the morning after. Comparatively, I don’t think the prices are too outrageous considering it comes with fries/chips(go with the fries) and a drink, but I do agree that they have to be making bank – I mean, how expensive can cheese and bread be, right? The food is good and the store is clean. Definitely worth trying, especially if you’ve never had the gourmet grilled cheese experience.

Are boutique grilled cheese shops the next frozen yogurt stands? This place must have huge profit margins; a grilled cheese will set you back 7 – 9 bucks. I always think of grilled cheese as the old college standby, but this is not your college grilled cheese. Grilled cheese can only be so good, and admittedly, this place is good. But I can’t quite say it’s worth the price. I hear they are getting their liquor license in November, so then it will be more like college after all.

Lil Cheezers was somewhere I really wanted to try this for a long time. We ordered two sandwiches, one on wheat berry and one on sourdough. The sourdough was delicious, I really disliked the wheat berry it was way too crunchy for me. I loved my sweet potato fries, and thought the curried ketchup was fun but not as delicious as everyone had said. Overall we had a great time listening to Pandora and singing with the girls who worked there. They told us about the history of the trucks and were very friendly and knowledgeable.

We have been dying to try Lil Cheezers since I started«following» the truck on Facebook and Twitter. Now that the brick and mortar location is open, we were finally able to stop in. He had: Build Your Own Pepper Jack and Bacon on Sourdough with fries. I had: The Caprese on Wheatberry with homemade Chips. Portions are huge, neither of us were able to finish our sides. He was completely satisfied with his sandwich, though he opted for regular ketchup instead of the curry ketchup. My caprese was terrific. The balsamic reduction was just the extra touch that takes the sandwich from good to great. To finish up I ordered a «S’more» sandwich to go. We managed to drive back to New Albany, unload the car from a day of shopping, start laundry, put the dogs out and get changed before I even opened the box. A solid 45 minutes had passed and the chocolate and marshmallow were still gooey and the graham cracker middle was still a bit crispy. The wheatberry bread had just enough texture to make it a home run. So, so yummy. My only complaint– and it’s out of their control– is the lack of parking. Baxter is a parking mess. Go– definitely go– but time your visit so you don’t walk a mile.

Ive never been to the lil cheezers on wheels but went with friend who had many a munchie satisfied by their grilled cheese. I had the CBLT with Gouda and was pleasantly surprised that I could choose my own cheese for that sandwich option. At non cheese centric restaurants I often order gouda and can’t really taste the smoky goodness of it. Well, that’s not the case here. While it’s pretty good now, I’m really excited to try this again in a few weeks when they switch from food supplier U.S. Foods to the local and family owned SOFO. Curried ketchup is perfectly tangy, but it’s overkill with the spicy(curry) sweet potato chips. Go for the fries instead.

Just had a build my own grilled cheese at Baxter Ave’s newest restaurant Lil Cheezers. The owner Matthew Davis and company have been running a food truck for the last couple of years, and while the truck will continue he has added a brick and mortar location as well! The location and hours should work really well for the restaurant and I especially love how close it is to my work. Today I had a custom sandwich on wheat bread(nice and crisp from toasting) with cheddar, grilled onions, tomatoes and made in house(I believe) chorizo sausage! Everything was just perfect. The chorizo had just the right amount of spice. The sandwich came with a side of house made gourmet seasoned kettle chips, with the house made curry ketchup. The curry ketchup is worth going there for alone. Davis should bottle and sell that stuff in local grocery stores! All around I loved it and will definitely be back.

Definitely hits the spot for late night food. Not a huge fan of curried ketchup, it smells horrible the next day when you wake up and realize you ate Lil Cheezers. Plenty of options and you can make your own with anything they have on hand. I would suggest grilled chicken and meatballs being added to give more meat options. Only thing I see wrong, is that when a guy goes to the counter to order it seems like something is missing. I am looking for something filling, and it just seems at first glance of the menu nothing will do the trick. What I got was good, Jive turkey, but I felt it was my only option. I had it twice with both breads and definitely like the sourdough much better. They have a great product and location that are sure to be here for a while. Adjusting the menu based on customer requests will only make them more successful.
