I am forever returning to Simply Thai Middletown! I looooooove this spot; been coming here since opening week. I’ve never had an issue with the spiciness level of the food, it’s always been on point. I love all the dishes that they make vegan for me. Only issue is service can be slow sometimes, even with takeout, but the food is worth the wait.

I have been here for lunch. Hospitality is good. I had red curry here with spice level 4 and it’s great. This is the best place around here for Thai food.

This is the first«unhappy» review I’m writing. This review is for the vegetarian/vegan dishes only. This is not the first time i have tasted Thai food, we loved going to Ya Ching’s downtown and absolutely loved their food. So tried Simply Thai last night and was so excited. The Veggie Spring roll was atrocious. No salt, no spices, bland cut up veggies in a dry wrap. Then ordered the loaded veggie fried rice and ordered it Thai Spicy, but it turned out to be sweet. Sweet?! My only Saviour was the red hot sauce that I had to use on everything to cut out the sweetness. The staff was good, she even highlighted that we should order it vegan since they might give you fish sauce. So that was the only highlight for us. A good waitress. All in all, terrible dinner experience!

Favorite Louisville Thai place. We found this place thanks to the coupon they send in the mail. It was great! My husband and I both got the Simply deep fried Roll for an appetizer(definitely recommend) and the chicken pad Thai(huge portions and crazy good!) I’m not a spicey eater and ordered a «2» on the spicey scale(1 – 5) and it was perfect! They have incredible happy hour deals and we’ll worth going before 7pm. They also have legit craft beers on tap which was an added bonus!

Great food. First time to this location. We have been to the other location and the service is just horrible in both locations. The staff must not be trained. There is no sense of urgency at both locations. The Shelbyville location has the same location. We sat for 10 minutes before water came to table. Just unacceptable

We have returned again and again to Simply Thai(the Middletown location) and have grown to really love this place. Since our first Unilocal review we had a daughter and have taken her there every time. And every time the staff is great with her. One server cut up a banana to give to her while we waited for our food. These little things make a great impression. :-) This restaurant has the best Thai food in the area, hands down. Whenever we are in town, we make sure to come here as often as we can.

I’ve only been here for lunch, but it is hands down the best Thai food I’ve had in Louisville(Granted, I haven’t been to many, so you may take that with a grain of salt). I’ve never had a problem with the wait or the staff, and the food has always been prepared perfectly and always tastes great — even better than the St. Matthews location.(For some reason, the Massaman curry with tofu at the other location just does NOT taste right, and every time I get it at the Middletown location it’s spot on.) I’m vegetarian and usually get tofu on everything, so I cannot vouch for any meat items, but these are the eye-rollingly-delicious entrees in my rotation: Massaman Curry Loaded Fried Rice Green Curry Fried Rice(has me completely hooked on eggplant for the first time in my life!) Pineapple Fried Rice(comes in half a pineapple) Woon Sen Pad Thai(sweet potato noodles!) the traditional Pad Thai If you haven’t been here, by all means, MAKEITHAPPEN!

There are far better, though smaller, Thai restaurants in Louisville. Simply Thai has a nice atmosphere but their service is marginal at best. And as for traditional Thai food, the menu is limited. My wife(who does not usually eat Thai) had the pineapple curry and I had the basil«phở.» The restaurant did not offer a traditional«larb» minced salad. It took me a while to finally get to Simply Thai and was excited to try this«highly rated» Louisville eatery. This was also the last time I will eat there.

We live near this location but often drive by and forget to stop in. Last night we visited without kids for our anniversary. We got there at 6:30pm and were excited to learn Happy Hour lasted another 30 minutes, until 7:00pm. We ordered $ 2 draft beers and B1G1 sushi rolls. We also had mild(level 0) pad thai and chicken fried rice. Everything was excellent — and while we wished we had ordered a higher level of spice, you can request additional chili sauce for no charge. The restaurant was also clean and spacious — definitely felt like we had privacy — and the server was very attentive. I’m looking forward to going back!

We were there on August 6th for dinner. The service was horrible. Our waitress took our order and she brought the drinks out and spilled one of the thai tea all over the table. Which was fine. no biggie. The appetizer was really good. But that was all that came out. We waited for an hour for our entrée and our waitress said that she has been checking on it but the kitchen was backed up. Shortly after that she came to apologized and said she forgot to put in the order. We paid for appetizer and left.

Service was extremely slow. We noticed other diners who arrived after us received their food before us. The appetizers, spring rolls and curry puffs, were very good. The entrees were not spicy, even though we’d requested a 3 on a scale of 5 being hottest. My entrée had a distinct alcohol taste, as though the soy sauce maybe had not been cooked into the dish or something else had been added.

Somewhat slow service once entrée ordered. Returned 7÷31÷15 and again SLOW food prep. Several tables received there orders and left before ours arrived

I honestly can’t understand why this place can not seem to get their act together. Tonight, against outlet better judgment, we returned for dinner after a 1 year absence. Once again, our appetizer order was never put in and came out long after our food came, the beer that came to the table was not as ordered, and the servers were generally clueless. The St Matthews location is amazing — atmosphere, service, and food. Middletown is a poor substitute and a huge disappointment. We’ve called in take out in the past and had to wait an hour for food. We’ve gone to eat in the past and had our food served to other tables and been made to wait 45 minutes for replacement food. We’ve been seated and sat for 30 minutes with NO service. I think today’s trip finally sealed the fact that we will never be back. So sad, but now that Yang Kee Noodle is open in Middletown Commons, we’ll have pad Thai without the horrible experience.

My friend and I wanted sushi and Thai food last night, so we figured we would give this place a try based on reviews. I highly recommend the woon sen pad thia with sweet potato noodles that another Unilocaler has commented about. It was absolutely fantastic and the portion is huge! Way more than enough for us after a couple of appetizers and it heated up nicely as leftovers. On the flip side, I do not recommend eating sushi here. The rice was very spongy and had the consistency of grocery store sushi. I think it has too much rice to begin with. Not mention they served it on a hot plate. Kinda gross but we still ate it. I don’t recommend the spring rolls either. I could tell they tried to cut corners by making their own peanut dipping sauce and it was more like simple syrup with peanuts sprinkled on top. Miso soup was pretty good and had lots of tofu and seaweed. The seaweed salad didn’t disappoint either. Service was okay. We came closer to the end of the night and the servers were stacking up chairs at the tables around us. We’re both servers and would never be allowed to do that. We both felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant. 5 stars on Thai food. 3 stars on service. 3stars on Japanese food.

We’ve been eating here since they opened out in east Louisville and their curry has been the BEST. Just ordered last night and we were uncharacteristically disappointed(too spicy, recipe change?), but hopefully it was an anomaly. Change of chef/recipe warning!

Great little strip mall with Havana Rumba on one end and Simply Thai on the other. Both have patios and both allow dogs so extra kudos for that. Simply Thai has a nice little wine list and also a good selection of bottled beer. AND… they have a great selection of Boba Tea flavors! Awesome. Flavors for anyone! They also allow pets on their patio so bonus points for them! Food is tasty and the wait staff is friendly. A great little place. Just wish the parking situation was better.

This is the only place I go to get my curry fix! I’m not sure what they do there, but this stuff is magic! I’ve had the green, yellow, and masaman curry and they all are extremely delicious! You can make them as spicy as you want(scale of 1 – 5) but I feel like the spice level is different for whoever the cook is that day(I usually order level 4 spicy) Lucky for Simply Thai, I don’t know how to make curry, so I just keep coming back for more!

It’s Saturday night, and I have my crazy family to feed. We’ve stopped at two restaurants already and both had over an hour wait. That wasn’t going to fly tonight with my sister’s two kids in tow, in addition to one crabby wife who was functioning all day on a blueberry muffin and a handful of Combo’s. Yes, those Combo’s. The delicious cheese filled pretzel snacks… so good. Moving on. We stopped at a plaza with a popular Cuban restaurant and again, over an hour wait. Simply Thai is in the same plaza. This was my last chance to feed these lunatics before something illegal went down. I approached the host stand and two friendly young folk greeted me. I told them I’d be needing a table for 6 adults and two kids. They looked over their seating chart and at first the looks on their faces indicated that possibilities were lacking. Then in a last ditch effort, they seemed to realize they could put some tables together somewhere and make this magic happen. I am indebted to them. We sat down and our server came up to get our drink order. My sister ordered a coffee. They don’t have coffee… unless you want Thai iced coffee. This of course threw my sister’s world into a spiraling vortex of indecision. *face… double-palmed* She eventually went with a hot jasmine tea and the planet began revolving again. I ordered a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I have to say, I was definitely impressed that a Thai place was carrying a local brew. It’s a decent beer, but the bourbon flavor gets to be a bit much for me half way through. I like my beer and bourbon separate. I only had one then moved on to a familiar friend, Chang, a mellow Thai lager. With my head getting right, I could start thinking about food. We started with chicken spring rolls, chicken satay and a tempura roll sans roe — since my sister doesn’t like roe(are you noticing a trend as to Who is the most difficult one, wink wink nudge nudge). The apps were all very good. The spring rolls were my favorite. They were wrapped in lettuce, crisp and refreshing. After a few days of eating heavy foods, it was a nice change. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice as my entrée for one reason… it’s served in half of a pineapple. This appealed to me since I’m easily amused much like a small child with a bendy straw. The rice usually comes with raisins in it. I ordered it without raisin because raisins are nothing more than grapes touched by the devil and filled with pure evil. This evil can only be neutralized by covering them in chocolate. Moving on. The pineapple fried rice was good. No complaints. My kid wanted to put in an order of Thai donuts, a dessert that is for him, above all others. Unfortunately, we were told they don’t do Thai donuts but they did have some homemade ice creams and a fried banana concoction. We went with that. I didn’t try it, but am told it was delightful. As I conclude this review, I have to give a nod to our server, whose name according to my receipt, was Brad. This dude was pretty much on point all night from the time we got to the restaurant when the place was full, to the time we left, when it was almost emptied out. A tip of my hat to you my good man. I’m pretty surprised that Simply Thai is only three stars but such is life in the world of opinion. All I can do is throw in my 2 cents and say, I believe it’s a solid 4 stars. We had a great evening, great service and no one in my family ended up incarcerated or hospitalized with blunt force trauma. Success.
