I adore the atmosphere here. It’s been a «must» shop to stop by either on the way in or out of Estes Park… Or wherever. It’s classic, and gives you a good feeling of how classy some if us earthlings used to be. Looking at a cute gentleman serving soda pop that is from the heavens and comparing it with rubber celery sticks from the padded bras at hooters. We’ve pretty much embarrassed ourselves, and the simple cuteness of the bow-tied apron wearing kindness offered here gives you a sense that we can keep what that generation did right alive. I highly recommend stopping by here anytime you’re in the area, and bring kids or something so it can rub off of them. Keep it classy, San Diego… I mean, Colorado.

The BEST Hamburger I have had in YEARS! It’s a very small local and almost humble, old fashioned establishment. I ordered an absolutely huge hamburger. It was incredibly huge. It was called the Timber Dam. The beef was so high quality I can’t believe how bad American burgers have turned with grease and fillers over the years. I wolfed this huge cheesy hamburger with bacon and feel great! This place will be visited for years to come!!! The sodas were great — don’t pass them up!

A regular stop when we’re in Colorado! The kind of place that makes for good family traditions, if you’re into that sort of thing. Old-school soda fountain drinks, egg creams, real phosphates, malts, floats and sodas in a plethora of flavors. One star missing for cleanliness– a bit more attention paid to keeping surfaces clean, hair covered, and floors swept would be appreciated! Be proud of your unique little shop!

Great classic old time soda fountain, grill and ice cream parlor. Stopped in for ice cream and dinner elsewhere and were greeted with excellent service and a fabulous chocolate shake, made in the metal shake cup so you have the extra to pour in your glass. Others with me had scoops or sundaes which were equally as good. Great collection of old time soda fountain memorabilia. Closes at 6 During the week and at 7 on Friday and Saturdays.

What a great little spot! We stopped in on a whim today on our way back to Boulder from Estes Park as we were looking for a spot for lunch. The place was clean and quaintly decorated with items reflecting the restaurants soda shop/diner theme. We were seated and waited on quickly and our young waiter was super nice and helpful. Three of our group got bugers and one got a salad. The food was fresh and wonderful! We ended the meal with scoops of yummy ice cream in waffle cones. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and the good service. Would recommend this spot to others and we were happy we stopped in!

Such a great old time feel. The servers are fully in character with their white collared shirts, red aprons and slicked back hair. Some how makes things 35% more delicious. Stopped in to grab some ice cream which was on point. But! The last second root beer purchased made this place stand out. I was skeptical that they were going to actually hand mix the soda but they totally delivered. And it was only sweet bubblygoodness from then on.

I got a bacon cheeseburger and suicide soda with less chocolate syrup than usual there, and it was amazing. I think most soda fountains disappeared in the 60s or the 80s, so it’s really cool to see one.

My wife and I have been going here regularly for several years and love it! We try to go at least every other week. I always get a cheeseburger and a chocolate malt and she gets a salad. Patrick and his staff are very friendly. The food and ice cream are great. The booths are comfortable. The antique decorations are fun to look at. There is street parking and if that’s full there are almost always parking spaces in a lot behind the building. Great place!

My 22 year old daughter and I went to Lyons Soda Fountain and I felt like I was walking into the past. There were colorful booths, checker board floors, a big soda bar with those little swivel bar stools. The walls had old time classic coca cola postesr. The food was good, but a bit pricey. My daughter ordered the homemade root beer. I drank some of it, and it was great! I ordered the egg salad with tuna sandwhich and it looked and tasted home made. If you are traveling between Estes Park and Boulder then you will pass by this soda fountain in Lyons. You should give this place a try.

We were on our way to Estes Park to stay in the Stanley Hotel, and needed a quick lunch. This place was great. The owner was friendly and personable, as was the entire staff. We sat at the counter and were able to watch as banana splits were prepared. He was almost like an artist. He wanted each one to be perfect. I would go here again in a second, if it were not hundreds of miles away. :)

You have to come here for the ice cream, then the atmosphere, and lastly for the actual food. The atmosphere is a 1950’s diner. Perfect down to the chrome tables & chairs. The heavy, wood bar and stained glass reflects the same nostalgia. The lighting is a bit harsh, but I suppose that fits the period too. The food is diner quality with grilled cheese and hamburgers that I do not prefer. What brings us up to Lyons from Lafayette is the ICECREAM!!! They have the most delicious sundaes, root beer floats and malts. BTW, they brew their OWN root beer!!! YUM! We recently had my daughter’s 4th birthday with some of her close friends and ordered the $ 22 — 8 person sundae! Let me say… it was INCREDIBLE!

I was not very impressed either time I visited since the new ownership. The first time I went was during a weekday around noon. All I got was a BLT. The food was typical of a place like this, nothing special, but not bad. The service was ok. My server was very awkward, which made me feel a little un-welcome. The second time we went was a complete failure. The servers were much to worked up with a very small crowd. There were 2 servers and 1 person behind the counter making all of the sweet treats. All we ordered was a rootbeer float and a blended rootbeer float. Both of our treats were disgusting. The rootbeer tasted like rootbeer candy soaked in soda water. For a homemade rootbeer it was disgusting. We will not be going back.

Outstanding soda fountain and burger joint! We saw this place on the way to RMNP in Lyons and thought we would give it a shot. Good choice… we had a green hatch cheeseburger and a grilled ham and cheese that we very good. But the star of the day was the best banana split that I have ever had anywhere. Dreyer’s Ice Cream with two perfect bananas added. the glass was chilled perfectly. Will come back here as much as possible on the way to Estes Park, Colorado.

The place was OK, but I didn’t care to much for the employees. The owner was asleep in one of the booths and this was around 2PM. The girls behind the counter didn’t know how to make a Chocolate Soda and one of the kept referring to the«N» word in describing how much her father hated blacks!!! Never went back!!!

Super Yummy Shakes and old-fashioned charm. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have predictable, regular hours.

Everything you’d think of when you hear«Small town, mid-20th century America» all in one location. We’d been wandering around town breathing in the fresh air in the hopes of resuscitating those with hangovers from all the home-brew when we stumbled upon the Lyons Soda Fountain. We’d eaten a big breakfast that morning, so we weren’t hungry for the real-food offerings, just the sweet treats. We got the root-beer floats, which feature their own home-made root beer and Dreyer’s brand ice cream. Apparently the difference between a soda fountain and an ice cream store is that at a soda fountain, the sodas are homemade while the ice cream is trucked in! We enjoyed reading the old Coca-Cola adds while the juke box played Big Band hits, and the staff donned their red bowties to complete the soda fountain uniforms. As Dina H mentions, there’s a whole side of the menu with pizzas, sandwiches, soups, but we focused on the sundaes, malts, shakes, and floats side, which was more than enough to put a smile on our faces.
