I’m torn because as a local I’ve eaten here many times for breakfast and the quality of the food is consistent. It’s satisfying and it tastes good, so I give a star for that. But the service… The service here FUCKENSUCKS! The teenage servers are oblivious and forgetful. The last waitress we had completely forgot to give the kitchen my husband’s order. After I received my plate and questioned why my husband’s food seemed to be taking so long(at this point it was at least 10 minutes after I’d received mine) our waitress became defensive and admitted that she’d forgotten to put his order in before storming off. No apology, free drinks or anything like that(we don’t mind paying for drinks but it was their fault and they didn’t handle the mistake well). The management here aren’t very nice either. On a couple of occasions I’ve been within earshot of a female manager(owner perhaps?) reprimanding staff very loudly. Extremely unprofessional. On just about every other occasion that we have been here a drink has been forgotten. You have remind your server at lease 3TIMES before they finally bring you your drink. Bringing the coffee pot over for refills seems to require a law degree because we can see the pot of coffee sitting over there, we ask our server for a refill, she says she’ll bring the pot over but she just walks straight past it. When the glasses of orange juice(finally) arrive they’ve usually forgotten to bring straws. Another gripe which I have is the framed photographs on the walls. Call me petty and grouchy but I find them to be extremely awkward and annoying to look at. I’d be happy to look at pictures of cute animals, landscapes or architecture but pictures of random people? Seeing their annoying happy faces while I have crap service just makes me puke.

Just had the WORST restaurant experience of our lives. If I could give zero stars, I would. We went in early on a Sunday morning, with our one year old, and had the place almost to ourselves. Despite this, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. If we’d ordered complicated things, and the place had been packed, and it wasn’t a place that specializes in «family dining», I would understand a bit more, but this wasn’t the case. We watched three tables come in to the auxiliary dining area in which we were seated, order, eat, and leave while we waited(with an increasingly fussy baby). When the food did arrive, it was clearly rushed and undercooked. We asked to speak to the manager(Don, the name I had to get from another server, as he wouldn’t supply it) about the food, he stormed over, already angry, and proceeded to tell us off about inquiring about the service. We didn’t approach it as rude, or request a discount, just wanted to alert him to an issue. At one point, I had his finger wagged in my face, at which time my husband told him to just leave us be. My husband worked in, then managed restaurants for ten years, and we’re both shocked at how rudely we were spoken to by this Don character. Regardless of what’s going on in the restaurant that day, whether it’s stressful or whatever was causing him to behave in such a way, you are representing a business, and must be aware of how you are doing so.

On our way to Vermont we had breakfast here. I really have nothing to talk about this place as everything was average and nothing stood out. Food was average in taste too, not that something I will remember. But if you live nearby then this place can be your go to breakfast place.

I’m torn because I love getting breakfast here but the past few times I have had a bit of a… GI issue afterwards. The ice cream is great and the original flavors are always interesting. The Sweet and Salty ice cream is amazing!

If you like a plain, old breakfast or lunch, you’ll be satisfied. Previous reviews mentioned teenage servers and bland steak. I’ve had and seen only mature women working there who were actually quite good. I would never order steak at a small-time diner-like restaurant. Eggs and home-fries, sandwiches, ice cream and coffee — you can’t go wrong. And it’s inexpensive.

The service is great. The people are great. Tons of high school kids who are so sweet they give the ice cream a run for its money. :) the food is, passable but, for ice cream and a grilled hot dog, you can’t beat this place on price and experience.

My wife and I tried Blake’s because we were looking for somewhere new, and saw they had breakfast all day. When we walked in we were seated immediately, the smell was great. Our food was all bad. My steak tips were flavorless and kind of gross, and the breakfast potatoes were fine, but nothing special. On par with OreIda frozen. My wife’s omelette was so so; and my daughter’s french toast was flavorless and dry. Not worth it.

The service was incredibly slow, and our food arrive cold. So much for a hot breakfast.

Ice Cream review! Yummy ice cream. Wonderful, friendly service. I loved sitting at the diner table & observing the elderly customers. They were adorable! I came with two little ones & we enjoyed our time, service, & food! If you see an elderly patron eating alone– make their day & buy their meal!

Being a teenager, this is a great place. I have never had the actual food, but the ice cream is great! A lot of selection and not pricey! The service has always been up to par every time I have gone there. My usual waitress is Catie. She’s so sweet and she puts up with a lot every time my friends and I grab ice cream there. She jokes around with us and everything. I enjoy being here and I haven’t had any bad experiences. Only more great memories made with my friends! Oh and the brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream is to die for!

Recently, after not wanting to wait the 40-minutes for a table at the Puritan, I happened upon Blake’s once again. The good thing about Blake’s is that you’ll always find a table. The not so good thing is that most of the servers are teenagers and what typically comes with teenagers is not long attention spans. The food here is as good as the more highly overrated Red Arrow. I’d also say that the food is more creative than The Red Arrow. A major plus at Blake’s is that they use freshly-ground angus sirloin for their burgers which means you can get a burger cooked to your liking and not the horridly overcooked med-well that most restaurants now insist upon serving. They also serve plain fries. I don’t know when this«seasoned» French fry trend will end but I wish it would end now. Blake’s is also an ice cream shop so if you want to complete your diet-busting after your meal they do have a creative line up of sundaes. All in all, if you want to avoid the lines and tight-quarters of The Red Arrow, and you enjoy diner-type food certainly do give Blake’s a try.

Not impressed. Basically your local greasy spoon that hasn’t been updated in years. Old and yellowed 80’s style wall-paper with matching booths. Make sure you wear old clothing because as soon as you walk in your clothes suck up the grease odor.

Most of the kids who work here are friendly but not terrible attentive. The food is good. The haddock chowder is amazing when you can catch it. The lady who made the soups(wanda) isn’t there anymore because she moved. They aren’t as amazing now but they’re still pretty darned good. Definitely visit the one on the hooksett line, don’t waste. your time with the service at the west aide location.

I realize Blake’s is somewhat of an institution in NH and although I was grateful for them being open when no one else had power, I still was disappointed. First, we waited forever for our food. The waiter was nice and felt bad. My Mexican omelette was tiny and pretty flavorless. I also only got a handful of breakfast potatoes. My husbands skillet had a cheese sauce that looked like it came out of a can. Nothing is definitely homemade that’s for sure. I’ll go back when I’m starving and there are no other options.

We had lunch here as well as ice cream on a Saturday afternoon. The meals were quite generic and honestly looked like something you put together yourself in your own kitchen. When you eat out, you either go out for something totally different and gourmet or order what you’re used to but expect it to be at a higher level than something you can make yourself. The ice cream was nothing special, but I guess it’s a big deal in New Hampshire because they make it themselves? The restaurant was staffed by teenagers, so you’re not expecting much but they performed the typical expected services no problem and quickly, and spent their spare time sitting on the side gossiping.
