this is a great little shop in the WV. They have tons of clothing, accessories and home décor, albeit very expensive. I live around the corner and have popped in this store several times since I moved to the neighborhood to pick up things for my apartment. The prints they have are one of a kind, mainly from Japanese artist they collaborate with from the publication. They are beautifully designed retro pieces with intricate details that you can stare at for hours. I also picked up the YOSHINOHINOKIDIFFUSER which makes your room smell like a cross between your cabin upstate, a warm fireplace, and a glass of spiked cider.

Monocle is a wonderful magazine. No one is going to dispute that. This store’s location is really cool. I love how well the space is utilized. They truly only have enough room for essential items that people actually have a use for… Unfortunately though the price markups of these aforementioned items is absurd and unwarranted. Save your money and search for this stuff online. Maybe they should concentrate on the quality of the journalism rather than expanding their retail clothing selections…

Whyyyy don’t I have $ 495 to spend on a back pack? Or $ 300 for a sweet black & white globe? The items in this store are awesome, I just can’t afford it. The shop is super tiny but they make a good use out of the space that they have. The male employee working there when we visited was super friendly… and cute.

If you read Monocle, I honestly don’t have to explain why you need to go. Tyler Brule is absolutely amazing, and should design every retail experience in NYC. The shop is small, but feels like just the right size for everything in it, the employees are lovely, and there is a great selection. Plus, the bike outside is so adorable.

As a devoted reader of the magazine, I like that there is a Monocle Shop nearby. Back issues can be purchased here, in addition to carefully selected accessories that can’t be found elsewhere. As a college student, much of the stock is out of my price range, but this among my first stops when looking for tasteful gifts. Its small size was initially uncomfortable, but neatly arranged items and excellent service make for easy browsing and a happy Rose.

You have to love the Monocle store. At under 200SF it is one of the tiniest retail stores you will ever encounter. As a Monocle reader, one salivates over their bags, posters, tablets, and other pieces of useful art. To be able to examine them firsthand is a rare pleasure(there are only five stores, two in the US). There is no cash register: just a MacBook Pro. The single employee closes the store and has you step outdoors while he goes next door to the«warehouse» to get larger items. To cap it off, there is a Monocle city bike parked out front.

My wife had an issue with getting her tote bag from her last subscription and the woman here took care of the problem with minimal fuss– exactly what you would expect from this store/magazine/brand. I would follow Monocle to the end of the earth if they asked me.

I was so excited to get a postcard informing me that the West Village Monocle store was opening about two weeks before my trip to NYC — consumer pilgrimage! The young woman working there was so friendly and welcoming — even though the store is tiny — there was an uncluttered, aromatic, bento box feel to the space. An added plus is the service — I’ve been subscribing to Monocle for years now and the last time I renewed my subscription, I did not get the cool, army green tote bag that I had been wanting — no problem, the nice young saleswoman hooked it up for me and I got my bag! yeah!
