We loved the dishes here. Priced right and not ever too busy. We will for sure return!

Eaten here several times and the food is very good at a great price. Fresh ingredients, made to order and the lunch buffett is awesome value. The staff is always very friendly and polite.
All the «would be» restaurant critics here that criticize this place got to chill and recognize that this place serves good food at a good price.

Good was ok, beer was really cheap! Nothing special though.
Just a tip, check your bill when checking out.

They stopped making our favorite breakfast burrito so we stopped going. It’s too bad, the buffet can be good, but we were really going here to get that burrito.

The lunch buffet was the JAM. Margarita was on point, too. Have driven by this place a bunch of times and it always looked like a cool place, and there’s definitely a lot of character on the inside.
Staff was super helpful and they have wi-​fi, so that’s a huge plus.
Will update this once we have a non-​buffet meal, but for now it’s my new local Mexican haunt.

I had high hopes for Hildalgo’s however it is Strip Mall Mexican at its worst, the food that came out would only pass as edible if you had already had «too much tequila». My wife had a Chicken concoction that had a cinnamon sauce. Yes cinnamon…, over a chicken breast a week old at best or completely cooked in a microwave. Usually the prices are lower at restaurants that aren’t a chain, this place rivals them with entrees in the 12 – 25 range, maybe they confused pesos with dollars, definitely not worth it.

This place was terrible. We live behind the Kroger shopping center and an have never tried this place so we wanted to give it a try tonight. We now know why we have never eaten here before and won’t be back. This is definitely a drinking on the patio place not a place you come to enjoy the food! If you want good Mexican go to Huey Lueys

First, let me just say the food and the mango margaritas are SO GOOD! The food and drinks definitely deserve 5 stars, however, the service is seriously lacking.
I’ve been here twice, and both times it’s been the same. We get seated, order drinks, then wait… and wait… and wait…
Both times I had to call ANOTHER waiter/​ress over to let our’s know that we needed/​were ready to order. Both times, we waited a long time for chips and salsa. One time our queso got to the table, and got cold before we had to ask our waitress if we were ever going to get chips. Then she had to go warm our cold queso. And it’s not like she left and came RIGHT back. Everything seemed like it took forever. The only 2 times during either visit we were «waited» in without having to initiate contact with the staff was when we were seated and when we were given the check. We were never asked if we needed anything else, or if everything was ok… just «sit here», and «pay.»
The service deserves 1 star and the food was a 5, so I met just above the middle. Wish there were 0 stars and ½ stars.

Well, um we went to this place today and they had a cool Mexican Buffett with a great selection of food, but the food was just not exactly… Very bland and generic. Sorta sad as this place seemed to be owned by a Mexican family, so I’d expect better, and perhaps this review will inspire them to re look at their offering and kick it up a notch, or perhaps two!

I always seem to enjoy this place. I love the buffet for lunch and the service is always great.

Great lunch buffet! Our family’s favorite for Sunday after church lunch. They do have seating for lunch parties and flat screens to watch whatever game is on. The unlimited queso on the buffet is delicious. The outdoor patio is great for pretty afternoons and evenings!

Well, customer service is not their strong suit. I used to be able to get that fabulous breakfast burrito, but the last three times I went they couldn’t be bothered. Try La Parilla instead.

I have never considered this establishment to be good Mexican, this is why we call it hell-dalgo’s. Why go here unless it’s for the drinks, which are cheap, but the food is horrid. Go to viva Mexico or La-​parilla.

I used to be a regular here 3 years ago but the excessive beer prices encouraged me to eat elsewhere. We decided to try again this Friday night and regretted it. All the prices have increased and the quality and quantity have decreased. Service was mediocre. There are too many better places for me to try this one again. I went to Chuy’s on Saturday night and it was surprisingly better.

One of our favorite spots. Food is closer to authentic tex-​mex than most local joints. Service can be hit or miss, bit the staff is always polite and try to correct any problems

I can only comment on what u had I was there for lunch. Thought I would check it out. Cool décor. I had a taco salad it was decent. I wish I asked for extra cheeses and black olives though. Just my preference. Service was good and salad came out quick almost like they had it waiting for me. Try this place out. What I had was very good.

Gross. And that’s the regular food… should you be so bold as to try their «lunch buffet», the only language to describe it would not go over well here on Unilocal.Also take into account that I’m judging Hidalgo’s by the «strip mall Mexican» standard, which is forgiving enough to begin with.
What you do get is sloppy, gloppy, frequently overcooked food and cloyingly sweet margarita-​based drinks that scream «we don’t care about the food, we care about turning this table.»

Gross! Pretty much sums up my experience here for lunch. The food was far from par.
I’m really disappointed because I wanted a cool neighborhood bar to hang out that was only minutes from home.
This place does have a patio that I had high hopes for but it sit in the middle of a very busy parking lot and street corner. Completely miserable place to hang out unless you like the sound and smell of cars rushing by. Not relaxing at all.
Only because of some of the outstanding reviews this place has received, I will force myself to try this place again. I will follow up my rating at that time but for now it is what it is. Bad…

I must confess, I am so glad Unilocal doesn’t have an option for video uploads because the many security cameras here have caught me doing some pretty interesting things on the patio, at the bar and to the poor horse by the front door.
During the Summer months we OWN the patio. Every Saturday night we take the corner table with the perfect view of the parking lot (cop watch) and the kitchen (management watch) and literally do not move for 6 – 8 hours. Sure, friends come and go, and several times I have been tempted to bring a tent but we are treated like family here and half the staff know my name and half my friends cup sizes!
Freshly made guac, sangria, cheese dip, chicken nachos, margaritas, beef tacos, FREE tequila shots, sopapillas, fajitas and more margarita’s! Yay for my gold discount card and tipping like a Rockefeller!

I’ve never met a chip that I absolutely loved, but the salsa here was so darn rooty-​tooty good that I didn’t care. It was *that* finger licking good. I needed a chip with some sour cream to cool down my taste buds.
As per my usual cuisine when at a Mexican restaurant, I went with the carne asada tacos. Just the mere thought of pure steak strips in a soft taco shell made my taste buds salivate and dance in my mouth. Unfortunately, this was not the case here.
When my dinner arrived, the steak looked like it may have been microwaved — it was all shriveled up and not the color that steak should be. It should be a nice grilled brown, not gray. I was very disappointed and desired the pure steak strips in my meal. I do remember saying to myself «…this is going to lose a star.»
I say microwaved for a reason — look at the cheese … how does cheese melt that way? Hmmm … heat lamp maybe?
Alas, the steak had no flavor, hence forth why I put some salsa on it to give it some taste. That’s another star.
It’s a shame because this location is a prime location … it could make a fortune, but only if it had good food.
But hey — the salsa was good. That’s gotta count for something, right?
