The staff is fun and friendly! Go on a Saturday morning and have the special, fried chicken breast and fried egg on a biscuit covered in holendia sauce… It’s amazing!

Walked in not sure what I was expecting and I was not disappointed. The fried chicken and French toast was to die for! The fried chicken was seasoned perfectly and the consistency of the crust was great. I also loved that their green beans are in some sort of red marinara sauce, which is something I’ve never seen before. One star off because the chili was disappointing. It was very greasy and honestly average.

Delicious omelette ! Made just how I like it and super flavorful :) The service was excellent and the vibes of the shop were very desirable. It had an old rustic feel with a revamped, warm accent. I enjoyed how we could get condiments as desired and didn’t feel the pressure/structure of a lot of breakfast restaurants. It felt«chill» and the location in the downtown square was quite cute! I would bring guests here any day !

Saw this place on Unilocal, and definitely felt like had to try when I read about how good their fried chicken was! We went on the morning after Christmas, and while the rest of the town was quiet, I was surprised how busy the restaurant was(always a good sign of good food)! Pretty much self service, order at the counter, drinks off to the side, grab your own utensils. The servers are great at accommodating if you forget, and the service was pretty quick, and friendly staff. We ended up ordered a garden omelette and a chicken biscuit. Even though I saw the good reviews, I was a bit skeptical and didn’t have much thought for fried chicken(I figured Chick-Fil-A’s chicken biscuits were good enough), but one bite into the chicken(great portions too, ½ filled me up), oh man I was so impressed, I told a few friends about the local spot as I continued to eat. The garden omelette was good too, but the fried chicken was definitely the winner. Safe to say, I will be back!

I couldn’t love this place anymore! The owner Jim is the so kind and hospitable, as well as the rest of the staff! I had the Local Benedict(only served on Saturdays) which is an open face biscuit, fried chicken, a fried egg and their house made hollandaise sauce! It was FANTASTIC! The biscuits will leave you speechless. We will be hiring them to cater my baby shower at the end of February!

Third time trying this place. Have noticed so many people ordering the fried chicken that I had to come back and try it. Let me start by saying I have really liked this place so far. But a few minor quirks bug me just a bit. I’m not a fan of the«forced gratuity» payment system when ordering food. Having a multiple choice for tip is tacky. Aren’t you supposed to give a generous tip AFTER good service has been provided? Just an opinion. Not a fan of the seating arrangement in this place either. I had my back to the line while I was eating. Some Prada or Givenchy toting lady kept banging me in the head with it while she was standing in line talking, too busy to notice that her purse was constantly hitting my head. So if you don’t like people standing in line behind you while you eat, choose another seat(if you can find one). And one last quirk is how they serve the side salad on the entrée plate. I had ordered ranch dressing, but they brought me something else instead. It looked good, so I didn’t say anything. But after the oil oozed off the salad on to my fries and chicken, I wasn’t so happy. Salads should be plated separately, and served before the entrée, not with it. Just another opinion. Now that the quirks are out the way, the food here has been great. Previously I had ordered the buffalo chicken salad sandwich. I can’t begin to describe how good this sandwich is. Why would anyone order a bland and boring regular chicken salad when they can have that instead? As for the fried chicken, it was really good. But don’t mistake it for what is offered at nearby Bojangles(which by the way, is the holy grail of fried chicken, and should be worshiped as such). I would order it again, but given a choice, I would pick Bojangles since I have a keen taste for this that has been developed over 35 years of chicken loving. All in all, I really like this place, and will come back regularly. Food is great. Just needs some fine tuning here.

This place is a real gem on the square. Marietta really has some great restaurants and this is among the best. I first tried their chicken and french toast at Taste of Marietta and was hooked. I’ve still yet to try anything else on the menu because that chicken and french toast is so incredible that I just can’t bring myself to pass it up. Maybe one day I’ll have had it enough to move onto something else but don’t hold your breath!

Such a wonderful and delicious alternative to industrialized fast food that’s affordable too! When me and The Hubs walked in we were greeted right away, walked thru the menu and the staff offered great recommendations. The way it works you order and the counter and pay, then they bring the food when it’s ready to your table. I had the Fried Chicken Plate — three big boneless breasts with two sides — I ordered the cabbage slaw and the quinoa salad. Both were delicious. My only comment is that I wish the slaw was a bit more vinegary — but that’s a personal matter of taste and I would definitely order it again without hesitation. The Hubs had the Meatloaf Plate with collards and green beans. Again, all delicious. Both of the sides are cooked in a slightly spicy tomato broth which added just the right amount of zing. I don’t even like meatloaf and I ate his! And he liked my chicken so much — it’s really tender and well-seasoned — that he went back and ordered their Chicken and French Toast special. What can I say, we like to eat. About the Chicken and French Toast special… it lives up to its name. I never would have thought apples on top but they add a delicious tangy note. And it’s served with REAL maple syrup. I almost cried it was so good. I wish more restaurants served it instead of «pancake syrup.» Upshot? Delicious and affordable! Adding The Local to my regular rotation whenever I’m in Atlanta.

This place is awesome! Very simple menu, but everything is made fresh and from scratch. And the taste shows. I recommend trying the fried chicken Breast for lunch or the chicken biscuit for breakfast. It is incredible. They have won several awards got their chicken. The biscuits taste like your grandmother made them. They are fluffy and moist. I could give a good review for every item on the menu. This place is a winner.

This place has near perfect reviews and for good reason. I walked in skeptical and walked out tap dancing with delight! They don’t offer table side service, waltz on in and order. Their menu offers items $ 10 – 15 range. I heard their chicken n french toast is to die for so I made my friend get it. Chicken –N– French toast $ 11.95 — The chicken is seasoned perfectly and very juicy. While the french toast did not need any syrup as it was very moist and sweet and comes topped with granny smith apple bites. Did not disappoint nor did my friend want to share much. Meat loaf entrée $ 10.95 –It’s not my mom’s meatloaf, it was better! You get slice of meatloaf that are nice and tangy. It came with two sides so I had the grits which are very good and buttery along with the quinoa salad which was very good. I tried their cookies: a chocolate chip and a macadamia nut. They did not taste fresh, almost frozen and thawed. I won’t get these again. Overall this place is worth the stop. You’ll find long line during lunch time but these folks are quick and extra friendly too so you won’t mind the wait.

A-ok! I got the(famous) fried chicken platter with two sides(quinoa salad and green beans). I had high expectations of the chicken after reading the Unilocal reviews. It was fresh and sizzling hot when it was brought to me. It was easy to cut and the fried batter was perfectly thin and crisp. I am sensitive to salt but the mix had the right salty amount. This part deserves 5 stars! The chicken is very tender but it still lacked some flavor to me. I don’t know how else to improve on this. it just fell short to my picky taste. Quinoa is A-ok with the chicken… so were the green beans. Nothing to rave home about. The staff is very capable and proficient. Everything ran smoothly. There’s a counter where you can get your own drinks, utensils, and condiments. The area is clean and the staff is quick to clean up after people. Nice place to try once if you’re in Marietta Square anyway. I wouldn’t drive too far to get it though.

We both had the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich comes with Cole slaw and a small amount of mayo. Very tasty. Best part of the meal is the ambiance of the outdoor tables and the extremely helpful staff. They also honor a 10 percent Unilocal discount.

I eaten at the Marietta Local three times so far. Twice I ordered the Local Benedict which may be my perfect breakfast. It’s made with a buttermilk breakfast which by some sort of magic make light and fluffy add to it an exquisitely fried chicken breast, an that I can’t tell if it’s fried or poach because of the generous amount of hollendaise sauce covering it. They the serve it with home fried potatoes mixed with onions and peppers, they call it potato hash. It’s exciting to eat. This last visit I order their signature dish the chicken and French Toast. It was simply amazing. Two large slices of the best French Toast I’ve found out in the wild, granny smith apple topping made in the restaurant, a perfectly fried chicken breast and warm, real maple syrup. It’s heaven on a plate. The wait staff make you feel at home and are attentive and charming. The place has great energy and it’s absolutely worth the drive to Marietta Square.

My husband and I came here on a whim one Saturday afternoon. We had the intention of spending time in the square, so we dropped in at The Marietta Local. I was a little surprised that it was a counter sale restaurant. I prefer these types of places since the turn around it a little quicker, but you don’t see that very often, especially since they also serve brunch. My husband opted for the fried chicken sandwich with fries and I opted for the meatloaf since I did not want anything fried. Once the food came, it was clear that the chicken was the winner. Not that I regretted my decision, but that chicken looked too good. However, their meatloaf was absolutely delicious! The tomato glaze that it came with was the star of the show. I’m typically a ketchup fanatic when it comes to meatloaf, but in this case, I was able to be without it. As sides, I got the mashed potatoes and green beans. The mash potatoes were good, but the green beans? They were even better. Not sure what they stewed them in, they were pretty much the best variation of green bean I’ve ever had. Th Marietta Local isn’t crazy fancy, nor is it pretentious. I can really appreciate a place in Marietta square that will serve a meal to a tattooed couple without their dissenting opinions.

Had a very good breakfast here last week. I opted for the fried chicken biscuit, which was delicious. The grits were also very good. Nice and creamy, although I added a little salt and pepper. I tried a bite of the potato hash and was really disappointed. The texture wasn’t my favorite; although it was very flavorful, it tasted like they weren’t cooked quite long enough. Would like to return and try the famous fried chicken & french toast!

Marietta Local has been in Marietta Square for about a year and a half. They are a great restaurant. They seem to have good food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. They serve sandwiches and entrees for lunch. They also serve breakfast. They are strictly a breakfast and lunch place. Don’t come here for dinner or they’ll be closed. I would say the style of food Marietta Local to be Southern comfort food. You can tell with menu items like«Mom’s Meatloaf.» When you come in, you have to walk all the way to the back of the restaurant to order. They take your name, and a server will call your name and bring your food. I tried their meatloaf, fried chicken, grits, cabbage slaw, green beans, and collard greens. The meatloaf tasted good. I loved the sauce on it. The meatloaf was moist and juicy. It was flavorful. I liked it. It was very comforting. The fried chicken looked like boneless breast flattened out like a schnitzel, breaded, and deep fried. They give you 2 pieces. I thought it tasted good. The skin was nice and crunchy. It had some good flavor from the salt and pepper. The brining gave the chicken meat some flavor and kept it moist. I liked it. Their sides were good. Their green beans and collard greens are cooked the same way. They seemed to have cooked them with tomatoes and chili peppers. I could taste the tomatoes and the heat coming from them. Their cabbage slaw was good. It was interesting compared to your standard lettuce slaw. It tasted good. Their grits were very creamy. If you like super-creamy grits, this is the place to go. Overall, I liked the service and food. What more can I say? This is a solid place to get breakfast and lunch on Marietta Square.

Good Food!!! A friend suggested I try the fried chicken and French toast at this spot… and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Now at first site, I thought my chicken was burned due to its color, but it was cooked perfectly, it basically a flatten chicken breast, seasoned, breaded and cooked to perfection. Everything on my plate was delicious, from the huge French toast(that I couldn’t finish) with a hint of vanilla flavor, topped with warm caramelized apples and served with warm syrup to the yummy fried chicken… Did I mention the chicken??? Lol I ordered a Arnold Palmer with my meal(strange), the beverage station was very clean, actually the entire restaurant was very clean and the service was wonderful. My friend ended up ordering a burger, no complaints there. Run Down — no table service — seat yourself — great food — great service — decently priced — local food I will be back!

I like this place and I would really like to go back sometime and try it again. I think if I ordered something different I may have given it higher reviews. The service was prompt and friendly. No issues there. I ordered some sort of monstrous salad that came with goat cheese balls, and I split a burger with the wife. The salad was really good as well as the burger. The goat cheese balls left something to be desired. They were cooked very well but the inside stuffing was simply goat cheese and nothing else. It needed something else inside with the cheese to balance out the flavor. All and all, it was a very pleasant experience but I did what I ordered did not blow me away. I look forward to trying out the rest of their menu.

I decided to try the Marietta Local after seeing the reviews in Unilocal.I was in the area on a Saturday morning and tried them for breakfast. The Marietta Local sits in the location that was formerly occupied by Tommy’s Sandwich Shop. I used to frequent Tommy’s when I worked in this area, and I must say the Marietta Local is a big improvement. I was very pleased with my breakfast and the value for the price. I ordered a chicken biscuit, which was a large and tasty biscuit with a huge boneless fried chicken breast in the middle. The chicken was fresh and tender and had a crisp and spicy breading on it. There was also some cheese in the biscuit. It was filling and delicious and worlds beyond the chicken biscuits you get from Chick-Fil-A. I had a side of the potato hash, which was also very tasty. The staff was friendly and it’s a fast-casual style restaurant where you order at the counter and then have your meal brought to you a few minutes later. There are plenty of tables and it wasn’t too crowded on an early Saturday morning. The menu had several other selections that looked very enticing. I would definitely like to come back for breakfast or lunch.
