Well, this restaurant by the name of Glisan’s no longer exists. This restaurant now is called Pinky’s. It is a shame when all the meals at a table are sent back to the kitchen due to the food is not hot.

Glisan’s is gone!!! The place that had great food, soups, bread, rolls, sticky buns, and pies is no more. Made the trip back to Uniontown this week for a funeral and planned to stop at Glisan’s for lunch, the place had tons of parking(my first tip that something had changed). The name now says Pinky’s. Walked in and there were a few people eating, but no one seemed to be working. A heavy-set woman sitting at table near the front(who appeared to be a patron) shouted out to have a seat anywhere you like. So the kids and I grab a booth near the windows and wait… I’m scanning the place for the case of pies — GONE, loaves of bread — GONE, sticky buns and cinnamon rolls — GONE. So I’m more than a little disappointed. The kids point out the dead spider and fly on the window sill. After 5 – 6 minutes I finally spy someone that looks like a waitress on the other side of the restaurant, but she disappears from view just as quick. The heavy-set woman must have seen my look of disappointment or overheard my girls asking where is our waitress and she gets up and grabs some menus and says someone will be right with us. So one look at the boring menu(looked like a bar menu rather than a country kitchen) and we were outa there. We ended up down the road at the Stone House. We ate in the tavern grabbing a burger and some pork BBQ that was smoked out front. It wasn’t fancy, but the fries were crazy good and they had a great microbrew selection. I did learn from relatives that Kurt’s a few miles east is owned/run by Glisan’s grandson. We actually had breakfast there this morning on our way home. Unfortunately the sticky buns(which they apparently do make were sold out). Breakfast was A-OK, but I didn’t see the full menu to see if it will be my replacement for Glisan’s.

Looking over the existing reviews, someone who isn’t familiar with this restaurant may be a bit confused… here’s a bit of history to explain. Over the last couple years, this restaurant has had a few changes in ownership. Originally, owned by a family named Glisan, it was a wonderful Mom & Pop type of diner. Homecooked favorites and excellent pies. Then, there were dark days where the restaurant was leased out and things went downhill. Now, a veteran restaurant owner has it and the service and food quality are back. We went today and all three of us were quite pleased with our meals. Note: portions are generous but, if you should choose the Fettucine Alfredo, be very, very hungry or you will be taking some home. And the roll they served wasn’t the same kind of cloverleaf that the original owners served, but was freshly baked and served warm with real butter which trumps the original in my book.

Soooo I have been coming to this place for years. I look forward to our once a year trip here! As soon as we walked in yesterday something felt different to me… and it was confirmed once I started looking over the menu. I was confused by their comfort food, down home selections and the multiple options for crab legs?! Now, I’m used to really amazing homemade rolls and unbelievable chicken noodle soup here, not sure how I feel about no longer offering your almost famous chicken noodle soup everyday, and replacing it with a seafood chowder. I suppose they are trying to be a little modern and freshen up the menu, but then the décor doesn’t match. :( Our server was awesome, Tony, the Italian dressing was to die for as he promised, the rolls were everything I remembered and my kind of dry stuffed chicken was forgotten about when I sank my teeth into the amazing homemade mashed potatoes. We all ended our meals with a slice of homemade coconut cream pie and all seemed right again. I guess I won’t know for if these changes are permanent until I return next year…

This place was taken over by new owners in 2011. The food has drastically improved. The new owners take pride in the food and service. Great soup, seafood, and lunch specials.

The service was awful. The waitress didn’t check on us to fill our drinks until our food was served. It took about 20 minutes to get two(very small) hamburgers, a BLT sandwich and a rueben sandwich. The bacon on the BLT tasted like the grill and not like bacon. The fries were all greasy and didn’t sit well. They also messed our order up. I was brave and ordered a slice of chocolate pie to go. That was not very tasty either. The crust was chewy and the chocolate filling was not very chocolately. I always tip but this time I didn’t since the service was so bad. We will not be visiting this place again.

This place is kind of like Lonestar down the road, but a different feel. It has the same types of food, although I only had pie there, but they have all sorts of homemade pies and the biggest rolls you’ve ever seen. Food is good. It’s like having lunch at grandma’s.
