I paid with a charge card for a room the National Trail Motel in Markleysburg, PA at 9:50 p.m. on the night of 9÷6÷2010 for my husband and I, without first inspecting the room due to the late hour. I asked if the room was clean and nice, and was told by the clerk, that it was. However, after inspecting the room and finding very substandard furnishings, no outside light, a questionable lock on the door, a nail with no picture on the wall, substandard lighting, Rubbermaid waffle shelf liner covering the dresser and other surfaces, as well as long black hair on the cheap, thin, pillow cases and sheets, urine stains on the mattress pad and suspicious looking insect parts and black specks on the mattress, we requested a refund less than an hour later. We were afraid and did not even sit on anything in this room due to it’s condition. The owners were rude and insulting and said they«knew our kind» and other insults, saying we had just come to «#&%@ on the toilet», refusing to refund the charge for the room even though I turned in my key in less than an hour, and made it clear that we would not be staying there, telling them that if they charged my account, I would dispute the charge. We then drove on about 10 miles further to the Summit Inn and stayed there very comfortably for the night of 9÷6÷2010. National Trail Motel did, in fact, submit the charge. This is actual highway robbery as we did not even sit down in this room due to it’s appearance and condition, and returned to the office after thoroughly inspecting this room to request a refund less than an hour later.
