The place looked a nice Asian Fusion, however: 1. there were at least 4 tables that had uncleared plates and food. 2. The floor was dirty with a lot of thrown pieces of paper. There was liquid on the floor that was left there for one 20 minutes. Good thing no one slipped and broke something. 3. There open trash cans all over the place — so un– appealing and gross. 4. Food — let’s just say I’m glad we were so hungry. Otherwise I wouldn’t have eaten it. The miso soup — not the refreshing kind I’d expected. The chicken Bento box was blah. The California rolls, the crab was gritty and just didn’t taste fresh or any good at all. The spring rolls, just didn’t taste good at all. I was really looking forward to this visit but I am utterly disappointed.

I usually come here once a week for a somewhat healthier dinner. Well after tonight’s service I don’t think I will be coming back. The girl(purple hair) working the cash register was not friendly at all. She delivered our dinner before our appetizer when we asked about the appetizers she said it’s not ready yet. The appetizer came after we finished our dinner. I’m updating my stars from 2 to 5 because the owner quickly responded to my issue. He really does care about customer service.

Staff was nice, restaurant was clean so all was well in those departments. I ordered a bowl, I believe it was a Hawaiian bowl or some sort of surf and turf bowl. It was at best average and tasted one notch above microwave food. The food did not seem fresh but rather processed. The sauce that accompanied the veggies and meat/shrimp tasted as if it were out of a Costco can. I spent $ 10+ on that bowl. Sorry, but I can go to Chipotle and get fresher food at a much lower price point. Unimpressive.

Not at all what I expected. I tried the sushi and it was just ok. There are other times on the menu I may want to try…

During the week, I generally cook at home, but was looking for a healthy place for those nights when I’m not in the mood to prepare a meal haha. This place sorta makes the cut, but, I’m not sure why I was charged $ 11 for a chicken bowl. I even asked the cashier if the veggies I got cost more, and she said no. Really made me wonder, because the price of a small bowl was I think $ 6 and a large was $ 7, and nowhere near $ 11. She didn’t give me a receipt, but I let it go because I really was tired and recovering from a cold and didn’t feel like exploring why lol. I got home and realized they’d given me a large side of edamame(which I didn’t order, but apparently got charged for). Still no receipt in the bag to be able to double-check the charge. Note to self: ask for the receipt… and it’s my fault for not checking anyway. Aside from the price weirdness, the food itself is good, but ratio of meat to rice is a bit lopsided — in the wrong way. There isn’t much meat, although what’s there is grilled and healthy. It’s not super flavorful, but that’s the point… it’s not made with butter or coated or fried. They give you the sauce you choose on the side, so you can control the flavor — and calories. I got the panang curry, and it would’ve been good if it wasn’t too salty. The veggies are good and the rice was cooked well. Even though I didn’t order edamame, it was warm and fresh. Service was friendly, but something about it wasn’t genuine. Even though I ordered mine to-go, the place itself seemed clean and spacious. It’s one of the stores in the Target shopping center, but more towards/facing Custer. Would I come here again? Probably, but only because it’s very close to home and it’s a healthy alternative for when you don’t want to cook. But next time, I’d make sure to order the small, and then ask for double-meat. That shouldn’t be more than $ 8, and that would be decent.

Hubby and I both ordered the bento box and it was just okay. We both got beef and we both got overcooked meat chunks. The rice was in a one-cup ball and we both had hard dried out exteriors on our rice like they premade the balls and they just sat there until served. BTW it was around 11 am so I don’t know why food would be laying around but that’s what it tasted like. Hubby got the spicy tuna roll — it was seared? Must have missed that on the menu and I got the dumplings. Pretty good, pretty ordinary. Only thing we both liked was the salad … well, that’s just sad.

If you’re looking to eat healthy then this is the perfect place for you. Tokyo Joe’s won’t taste as good as some of your other Japanese restaurants, but it is far and away the healthiest. I made my own bowl, I got the white chicken, white rice, veggies(choose as many as you’d like for $ 1.35), and the spicy sugar free teriyaki sauce. The sauce came on the side, which is great if you want to ration it out yourself. I got the regular portion which was more than enough for lunch. Didn’t have your typical food coma afterwards because the food wasn’t too salty nor was it too oily. Definitely plan on coming here again.

In my own personal opinion, this place is fantastic. I’ve been several times, and never had even close to a poor experience. Their food has a specific kind of take that I crave now. It’s healthy, fresh, and highly customizable. Great place, friendly people, and comfortable chairs! I’ve taken a dozen of my friends here to try this place. Money well spent.

No flavor in my general Joes soup. Tasted like chicken noodles in coconut flavored water.

Not so great. Son said the kid’s chicken teriyaki bowl tasted like cardboard. Gyoza was rubbery. California roll was icy cold and 2 out the 8 pieces had something crunchy inside that I couldn’t identify. Daughter liked the Miso soup, so I gave it 2 stars. Staff was friendly.

We came here on a coupon to try this place out since it’s very close to home. Tip #1 to anyone who works here. When someone orders their food and then waits as people who came in behind them get served, not once, not twice but four times, you better believe they are going to get upset. Not sure why our food became a 20 minute wait in what seems to be a mid-fast food establishment. We got the surf and turf which was small amounts of beef and shrimp. Nothing that seem worth waiting 20 minutes for. Unfortunately my husband was very hungry and very upset over the wait that he said something. I try to be always nice, I understand everyone gets busy but we were there before the busy hit, so it would seem our food would come out before people behind us. They gave us two free meal cards to come back and try the food again. We shall see. The food was okay, I was not overly impressed with it. The staff was friendly. I recognize that they felt they were busy. I think they only have 2 cooks? Or did at the time we were there.

This place is fantastic! Quality healthy oriental food which is generally not available in this area. The GM is awesome … providing very friendly, upbeat, accomodating service. This was our first time but it feels like the service was and will continue time to be personalized.

Food was good, service was pretty good. Nice clean and new restaurant with many different choices and food options. Although it wasn’t the best food in the world. Pei Wei in my opinion would trump this restaurant as far as quality and choices go.

This place is awesome! It’s really easy to find unhealthy food that tastes good. It’s kind of hard to find healthy food. But it’s damn near impossible to find healthy food that tastes amazing! That is, until Tokyo Joes opened up. I eat here at least once a week but more like 3 times a week. I love it all! The food is tasty, nutritious, high quality, excellent variety, and generous portions so a great value as well. The space is comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The crew at Joes are helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant to talk to. They’ve all been super cool. In a world full of cappy unhealthy choices, Joes is a refreshing alternative for health that never sacrifices tasty flavor! Go! Eat! Become a Joes addict! :-)

I was kinda scared to try it at first, since it’s a new place and all. Although, It was actually really good, I got a bowl with salmon, brown rice and broccoli & I was satisfied. You should maybe not listen to all the bad reviews on here and just try it yourself. staff was nice and inviting and the décor was really cool. I think this is a new spot for me to eat at, it’s good and healthy(depending on what you get) but I’m definitely going back again!

I am really disappointed in the food. BF brought us some bowls from here for dinner. I decided to do the«create your own bowl» with steak, rice, their veggie mix, and a spicy teriyaki sauce. The small portion of steak was a let down… you could get more at Chipotle. The veggies are steamed but have no seasoning at all. Most of the bowl consisted mainly of rice and veggies. The sauce comes on the side and the main source of flavor. The sauce was just okay… I could have made a better version of this bowl at home. This is probably a good option if you have certain dietary restrictions. Besides the sauce, all the components are pretty bland.

The place is clean and the employees are very nice and welcoming. The food on the other hand? Terrible. I ordered two items from the starter menu: gyoza and edamame. The edamame was very«hairy» and had small brown spots on it. I only ate a couple pieces before I just couldn’t anymore. The gyoza was average and tasted like what you buy from the frozen food section at the grocery store. I got the spicy tuna roll and it lacked any flavor at all. I also a signature bowl which was he surf and turf. Everything lacked flavor and not even sriracha could save this one. I would not recommend ever going to Tokyo Joes.

General Joe’s Soup was great with a little salt. Boulder Veggie Bowl with chili peanut sauce was packed full of fresh crunchy veggies and spicy but not too spicy. Could’ve used a bit more sauce. Fixed it up with some Siracha. Portions on both items were very good. Filling. Pomegranate green tea was refreshing. They’ve also got Pepsi and Mountain Dew in glass bottles as well as a variety of Shiners if you’re into that sort of thing.

Our family got 2 make your own bowls. One with shrimp and one with dark chicken, 1 kids teriyaki chicken and 2(4) piece sushi rolls. Sushi tastes bland and like grocery store sushi, won’t get again. Bowls were bland and unseasoned. Staff was friendly and helpful but the food was nothing memorable. Probably won’t go back.

Came by for late lunch on the weekend. The owners or corporate folks were here while i was getting my food. I could tell because they were reviewing Tokyo joe branded documents in a huge stack of paper. Sushi is prepped by a 16 year old sushi master. He probably has a lot of experience. Who knows. Kids start young these days. The bowls are about 12 oz. They are packed in with ramen noodles and veg. They don’t really add sauce. So you have to add in soy sauce to get some flavor. It seemed pretty healthy for the most part. You get a choice of any type of chicken. Décor is fresh and new and inviting. I don’t really know what’s great about this place. P. s. they offer free wifi.

Not amazing restaurant quality but also not restaurant prices either. I got the spicy salmon roll and the Cali Tartare roll BOGO and I also got the salmon bowl with brown rice, edamame, water chestnuts, green onions, and snow peas with teriyaki on the side. It was all pretty good. I’ll definitely go back. The staff was super nice. Sign up for the rewards program. It’s free and it helps you earn points and free stuff!

Myia’s review was spot on so I’m not going to recap on all the offerings. We expected some form of seasoning besides the sauce but no such luck. 2 adults and one teen here– all of which chose to build-a-bowl. All bowls were bland– all items in said bowls were steamed with no added spices… No onion, no garlic, no oil, no salt, no pepper, nadda. Even the teriyaki sauce was somewhat boring. We love the idea of this restaurant, the menu and the location BUT it needs some added flair.

They just opened, so give them a whirl… they’re likely only going to improve on taste/service from here forward. The place was busy at 6pm on a Monday night… families continued to pour in as I waited for my to-go order. What do they serve? Rice/udon bowls-including a build-your-own option(sauces/spices range from green curry to oyako/broth), a couple of signature and standard sushi rolls(your choice of 4 or 8 pieces), 2 different ramen bowls, nigiri(tuna/salmon/eel), a lettuce wrap option, a few salad choices(with dressings like soy ginger, honey mango & sesame), and even starters like edamame and gyoza. Bowls and salads have«regular» and«large» size options. They also have vegetarian options, including tofu, and a kids menu. 10 – 15 min wait on a to-go order… not bad. Tried the following: Salmon nigiri: 3⁄5 stars, odorless, will fix a craving, served with little lemon slices which I like. Created Bowl: 2⁄5 stars, dark chicken option with veggies, rice, and panang curry. Flavorless. Joe’s Roll: 2⁄5 stars. Ehh. Arizona roll: 3⁄5 stars. A-okay. Very family friendly. Fast casual. Nice alternative to the nearby chains we are all inundated with. Price point is very wallet friendly with most option averaging $ 7. Give them a whirl. I’ll be back to try them again after they’ve worked out menu kinks.
