Good solid American Chinese. It is nothing authentic, but is well executed. The service is good. The manager Sally is awesome! She will remember your name! In Medford, this is a decent go-to Chinese place.

Great customer service: very prompt, professional, and respectful. Food is fantastic and you get huge portions. Prices are average. I appreciate how they box up your food. However, restaurant is small which means; more people louder place. Dealt with screaming baby tonight.

Expensive for mediocre food. Asian woman kept coming to the table and trying to clear the table while we were eating. It was abrupt and rude and made for a very uncomfortable experience.

For the record… I’m Chinese. This place is the WORST Chinese food I have ever had. A vast majority of the items on the menu aren’t even real Chinese dishes, which is surprising because from what I hear, the owner is from China. I visited Yummy Yans with some work associates and after I saw it, I was hesitant to even eat it. After a couple bites, I couldn’t force myself to continue. It was disgusting. This place is an embarrassment to the culture. Don’t go here, Panda Express is way better. People in past reviews say this is the«best Chinese food.» Wait. WHAT?! Clearly they have never ventured past Medford for actual Chinese food, which is sad. I have eaten at hole in the wall place with dirt floors in China that have better quality/tasting food than this garbage. Broaden your horizons people!

This has been one of the worst places that I have ever eaten at in my life. My girlfriend and I went to have dinner at this location around 5pm(it was fairly uncrowded, with only one or two other small groups of people dining in) and were instantly met with a heavyset caucasian lady(presumably the manager) who was incredibly indifferent, unaccomodating and spoke very sternly toward us. We first got seated in the booth nearest to the register where there were many stacked piles of boxes, and the wall had food crustacean parts that were giving off a slightly unpleasant smell. When time came to actually order, I ordered the orange chicken(with a side of soup) and my girlfriend ordered the sweet and sour prawns(also with a side of soup), in addition to two bowls of white rice. Almost within ten minutes, the food came to our table. The orange chicken had a very diluted, almost non-existent flavor to it, and not only looked, but also tasted like the cook had grabbed three or four frozen chicken breasts, chopped them up into large chunks, poured an old container of orange sauce on top of it, and then heated it up in a microwave to serve. The sweet and sour prawns also had virtually no flavor to it, and were partially cold when they came out. The soups had the traditional flavor to it, and was probably the best part of the meal. We left very early after getting our food(although not immediately). I was only able to eat a single piece of orange chicken, and tried three more, but ultimately had to spit them out, because some of them seemed like they were not even cooked at all, and were inedible, with what tasted like uncooked fat from the chicken, covering many of the pieces. My girlfriend was probably able to finish only one third of what she had on her plate. When I went up to the counter to ask for a box, an older looking waitress(who was actually quite nice) offered to box it up for us, and so we asked to take only the sweet and sour prawns and the rice. We told her that the food did not seem very well done and she offered to remove the cost of the orange chicken from our tab. When she went back to tell the manager(who we overheard, and was standing at the desk right behind our booth) of our complaint and suggested to remove part of the total cost, the manager adamantly insisted to her that only a small fraction of the cost be removed on the orange chicken because I had eaten half of it, when I only had a total of four pieces off a very large plate. Had the manager been a little bit nicer, I would have paid for the whole meal in full, and probably would have come back eventually another time. Now I absolutely will not. I would advise anybody who is looking to eat somewhere fairly nice, or if you are taking somebody out, to consider another place, and try this restaurant only if you have some money to spare and want to take a gamble.

My husband and I went here twice, and both times it’s been mediocre. The food leaves a lot to be desired, unfortunately.

I am really surprised that this gets good reviews at all. We moved here about 6 months ago and this is not the best Chinese food in Medford. We have attempted eating here on three separate occasions and although it is not horrible, it is not good either. The food is consistently bland and dry regardless of what was ordered. If your looking for decent Chinese, the Silver Dragon is far superior. The service good and prompt. We will continue our search for good Chinese food in Medford.

Love Sally! I come here with my family often and she knows us by name and has our order down. Always consistent, large portion sizes and cheap prices!

There were enough good reviews on this place that I gave it a chance. No offense meant folks, but I wonder how many of those who really like Yummy Yan have eaten really good Chinese food elsewhere. Maybe they’re ranking it high compared to the mediocrity that is most Jackson county Chinese restaurants, with the exception of King Bo which is very good. When I try a Chinese place, I go for basics on the theory that if they can’t do those well, nothing else they do is worth trying. Those basics are pot stickers, fried rice, and chow mein. If I don’t have vegetables ready at home, also ordering a vegetable dish. I had despaired of finding good pot stickers locally. These guys fail in this regard. The filling is slightly flavorful but the wrappers are gummy and thick. Chicken Chow Mein is fair at best. As with the pot stickers, this dish was almost flavorless. Pork Fried Rice, the same verdict. I would return here only if it were the only Chinese place around. Similar to most Chinese places here, Panda Express is better. For that matter, canned Chinese food in supermarkets is better than Yummy Yan’s. Eating from Yummy Yan’s isn’t a bad meal, just a meal wasted.

After a large group order from this place, I feel quite comfortable with this conclusion: this is some serious chow YUK. From the dry bbq pork to the drier shrimp fried rice(why, God?) to the amorphous blobs of battered, deep fried shrimp and other, indeterminate protein sources(in the age of easily accessible pankgo-style lightly crisped batters and mixes, why would anyone stick w/amorphous blobs?). This place underwhelmed, even as it under-delivered. They also forgot to include our soup, which their menu clearly promises for group orders larger than 3 which we certainly were. And what is it, anyway, w/all the diced water chestnuts? We got several of the large carry out boxes(most of which were a hefty $ 14 – 15), and whether it was chow mein or general Tsao, or chicken or beef or seafood or tofu, what you mostly seemed to get were: diced water chestnuts. Seemingly MILLIONS of diced water chestnuts. Granted, they can add a satisfying crispiness for mouthfeel, but on the whole I guess I’m just not feeling any lack of the daily starches and riboflavin… other than the mild crunch, the value of them thar’ chestnuts is neglible. Starchy Filler. Have you ever wondered if you could sit and eat $ 14 worth of water chestnuts in one sitting? Come on out to Yummy Yans, and settle the matter in your mind, heart and tummy, once and for all! To be fair, out here in the boonies, I even compared, side by side, the menus from YYs and the nearby, highly utilized(but NOT highly regarded) Silver Dragon, whose cumulative Unilocal star avg lags roughly ½ star behind YYs, and immediately noticed that across the board, Silver dragon was the more economical choice, being between $ 1 – 3 cheaper, in line-item style, than YYs. If the actual food at Silver Dragon is correspondingly that much worse than YYs, that would truly be an amazing accomplishment. It’s hard to fathom that the amenities proffered by the prevailing technocracy, as evidenced by well-organized tools such as Unilocal, would make a snob out of me over something as benign and meaningless as Take Out(American) Chinese. Just so. This was just bad food. baaaaaaad! There simply have to be much, much better options in Jackson/Josephine counties…

This was a Unilocal stumble upon lunch and the film were friendly as can be. They sent us soup before we ordered the menu was flexible and had great variety. The plates all matched and had a nice design. The rice was seasoned light but full of flavor. It was a pleasant dining experience top to bottom.

Food/Veggies were fresh. Tons of flavor with a light and crispy batter on their deep fried options. The portions are huge! Their egg flower soup is great. I would give it 5 stars for the food but the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting… All in all, a good experience. Will be back soon!

Had it for takeout. Maybe its S Oregon Im new to the area but what’s with the chow mein not having noodles??! Pork Fried rice was a brownish white rice with a little pork cut up on top. The Orange Chicken was a large container but the quality was not very good its a shame I will most likely toss all the leftovers except maybe the rice I might be able to do something with that.

Met friends there for dinner. The food was very good. Everyone left with leftovers. The portions were HUGE. I am amazed at the differences in the reviews. They go from 1 to 5. I can’t believe the food prep would change so drastically? I didn’t get name of happy faced young lady who greeted us, sat us, and took our order. She and VERY serious older lady were quick and efficient. I noticed our booth and some others very old with tape-repaired seats. I hope this business is more successful than the décor presents itself. We WILL return. Adequate parking. They have Take-Out.

Always fresh, always hot, always good. This place does Chinese food right. Their prices are literally too low(not that I’m complaining)… For lunch, two people can get full off of $ 7.50, no joke. You can do a «Pick 4» that also comes with tea and soup. Can’t beat that deal. Not the biggest dining area so it can get crowded, but it’s worth the wait. The staff is very attentive, and friendly too!

Ordered Mu Shu pork. Absolute mush, NOT anywhere near fresh. Half cup of liquid at bottom of container, within five minutes of pick up. If I had received this dish at table, I’d have sent back. Never go back. We drive through Medford four times a year, usually go to Tin Tin, which is okay. Going back there from now on.

We started eating here when silver Dragons quality started going downhill fast. The food here is very close, only higher quality and more finished. A big plus for us was you can tell the difference between the pork and chicken. if you like what silver Dragon used to be you will love yummy yans.
