Little Sprouts – Melrose

This review is for their preschool-​1 class. Both the teachers in the classroom are nice. However their could not handle 20 kids. I spent half a day in this classroom and it was just chaotic. Also the teachers were busy taking photos of the kids’ activities than teaching them anything. When I discussed this concern with the center director Kristine, she said 1:10 is the state assigned ratio for the preschool classrooms and I will get the same ratio where ever I go in MA. The state assigned ratio is 1:10 — this part is true. But that’s not the ratio all the day cares provide: check Bright horizons, Melrose daycare center, Chime Time, etc. Also in the other daycare centers that do offer 1:10 ratio, provides 1 full time teacher and an assistant for 10 kids. That makes a whole lot of difference. Kristine also said she and Ashley help teachers in the classrooms if they need help. They have at least 5 classrooms in total. Both Kristine and Ashley don’t pay much attention when you are talking to them. They don’t even followup well. So if they are not doing their own responsibilities, its hard for me to believe that they would help teachers in the classrooms (which I dont think should be their responsibility). Kristine is always yawing and looking at her laptop when you are asking her questions. So, you are planning on enrolling your kids here, make sure spend at least half a day in the classroom and then decide.

My daughter has grown leaps and bounds since attending Little Sprouts Melrose in August. They are very caring and attentive. She now loves preschool. I really appreciate their modern approach to connecting with parents and keeping them informed. They update you constantly by sending pics and emails. The classrooms are also the cleanest I’ve ever seen. The school is painted with bright colors and fun music is always playing. The staff is also flexible and understanding, they even have one late night a month so you can run an errand or make an appointment, as a single mom that is something I cherish. I can’t say enough good things! We will stay as long as we can.
