Crafts, yarn, thread, beads, buttons, zippers Is this the 1800s? I don’t wanna make my own clothes. I wanna go back to civilization. I don’t wanna be here any longer. Someone help me!

The good: huge store with a large selection. The bad: went first thing in the morning on Black Friday and they did have certain Cricut cartridges in stock even though the purchase cards were hanging up. Several items didn’t ring up with the correct sale price and we had to argue with the sales person who was decidedly rude. All paper crafting supplies were supposed to be 50% off but then there were random exceptions that weren’t in the coupon fine print. Over all, I’m unimpressed with this store and I doubt I will come back.

I went to this store to pick up some items called in to have held for pickup. When I arrived, I immediately went to the customer service desk. I waited there 3 – 4 minutes, nobody acknowledged my presence. Finally, I see a department rep walking to the checkout line. Mind you, there about 5 people in this line. I arm wave this person and ask«Will someone come to the customer service desk»? He then rudely replys«You have to come get in line». In line, why in the checkout line? Why is there no one working at Customer service? Isn’t that normal protocol to first go there instead of checkout? This guy treats me like I was guilty for waiting at the customer service desk! Last visit an $ to this store!

I love this place. They always have what I need and they best prices. I also like that you can always find coupons for just about all the things the store have.

The boyfriend and I stopped in here yesterday for two small, specific items — a replacement zipper for a jacket and a cord to put on my sun hat — and had a difficult time. We couldn’t make head or tail of the zipper selection, so we finally asked someone, who pretty much told us that no, they didn’t have exactly what we wanted. Ok, fine, we did come all this way for a darn zipper, but we managed to find something that might work instead. We then picked a woven cord, had it cut, and headed for the check-out. And, that’s where it stopped. One cashier, easily five people in front of me, many with armloads of items. We waited a while, watching the cashier slowly and painfully ring people up, before the boyfriend announced that he was going to go wait in the car. By the time I finally got up to the register, there were eight people BEHIND me, and when I asked the cashier if they had anyone else to check people out, she said that she had called for help twice and not gotten any. Um, ok… but when, exactly, did you call? Not during the eon that I was in line! Long story short, I didn’t think the drive out here was worth it. I won’t be back.

Great selection of low-priced yarn and knitting & crochet supplies. Not the same quality as, say, an independent yarn store but good none-the-less. As another tip suggests, several associates are clearly not crafters so they don’t have a lot of product knowledge but those who DO craft are fantastic sources.

They have a great selection of quilting fabrics. Other fabrics can be very hit or miss. Joann’s does offer lots of coupons and sales and I’ve found some great fabrics in the Red Tag section. The thing that gets me is that 2 out of 3 times I’ve come across an associate who didn’t know a thing about crafting. Maybe I’m a crafting snob but I think people working there should have some knowledge of crafts and not have to ask me «what’s a bobbin?» when I am looking for one for my sewing machine. On the flip side when you do find that associate who knows about crafting they are very helpful.
