I just want to say that 11-18-2015 was my daughter birthday and we celebrated at On the Border our waitress name was Crystal she was amazing, of all the kids loved her she talked with them about the kids menu and did not have an attitude she was very courteous and smiling food came out on time. If she is not a manager she need to be she was very professional and I promise we are coming back my daughter enjoyed the service she had received and so did the rest of us. I hope I spelled ur name right keep doing a great Job it need to be more like you see u soon CE.

Our server was eating in a corner behind the bar and obviously you are not supposed to do he was sneaking it. He then cleaned a machine out and wiped his hands on a dirty rag and then gave us our food. He also hovered over us when we were making a deciding. They weren’t many people in there and so he just walked back and forth being very rude. He also took a call and was texting or something on his phone. His name was Thomas or something. I will never go back or at least to that one. But the food was great so I will relocate one somewhere else.

This remains an incredibly poor choice for dining. It’s 5 pm on Cinco De Mayo and to quote ‘there is a 40 minute wait because some people called in sick and we’re spacing out our waiters’. Empty tables(clean and un-bused) were plentiful along with an unwelcoming host. Corporate management clearly has a problem that they don’t care to address. On their best opportunities to shine(Cinco), they do not. Sadly, our previous 3 visits were worse but we were hopeful, because it used to be a great place but no more. No one will miss it(TexMex is plentiful) or have to pay for the apathy. Avoid.

The food was delicious; however, I am currently sitting by two loud women at the bar with cigarettes hanging out of her mouth. Wow.

I am a regular here at On the Border(can’t get enough of that white queso, bro), and my bf and I pretty much always come and eat in the bar. This is because of one server, Daniel, who is honestly one of the best servers I’ve ever had. He’s friendly and quick and very good at his job. We both look forward to his service simply because we always leave satisfied. This evening we got to have a nice conversation with him and he’s basically just a really cool guy. If you hit this place up, ask for him. You won’t be disappointed.

This place never disappoints! Fresh and tasty, with authentic southwest flavor. I recommend the pork carnitas in a burrito or tacos. The all you can eat enchiladas are a great deal too.

The Ultimate Fajita for two was great! I ordered double guacamole and shredded cheese. I received an order and a half. For the extra .99 cents I should have received the same amount that the entrée normally comes with. The service was awful. I had to stop the waitress twice just to ask for more refreshments and tortilla’s. The second time because she never brought refills the first time. It was 3:00 in the afternoon and they weren’t busy so I don’t understand what the problem was. This was the 3rd time I’ve been in 5 months and the service has always been poor. Maybe this time I will learn my lesson and not return.

Service here has always been mediocre. The bartender with the hair that hasn’t been combed in a week was so-so and not too professional. She was not very attentive and she liked talking about personal matters too much in front of customers. The combo enchiladas were fair… nothing great.

This my bad review unfortunately. I took my cousin here for her birthday the waiter was nice and did his job we ordered our drinks and food and enjoyed our conversation our were brought to us right away which was good. A few moments later her food was brought to the table and waiter explains that he will check on my order. I told my cousin to eat as we laughed and talked 30mins went by and the manager came to the table and said he notices that my order hasn’t arrived and he was watching so he calls the waiter over ask who was his expeditor in front of us which I feel like he should have taken the matter to the back and then came back and explain. So he gave us the meals free I told the waiter to just pack my order to go I paid for the drinks and we left.

This is our go-to second choice, if nothing else is open or taking too long. We have had great servers. Food is always good here. I always try and get something different. The barbacoa enchiladas were tasty. Chips and salsa is always good too, but we try not to ask for more since we don’t want to get too full before the food arrives. Overall great place.

We arrived at 2:00pm and the place wasn’t even half full. We were asked to take a seat and wait for a table. After a few minutes we were seated and given menus. 15 minutes later we still had not seen a waiter to even place a drink order. We finally got up to leave. On the way out we told the host that we were leaving because no one had been to our table. He shrugged and said«OK».

I worked at this location for 5 years, and at one point thought about going into management. This location is fabulous. The manager sincerely care about their staff and their needs. It was like one big family. The kitchen was always clean. I are there almost daily when I worked there. For the record, On The Border does not serve authentic Mexican food. It serves TexMex. It has something for everyone. Vegans and vegetarian they have plenty for you. Your server should know exactly what you can eat. Just ask. It is their job to know.

I hate to write this two star review. Mostly because the manager that came out at the end tried her best to make things right. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. We’ve been to this location twice. Fist time was ok, it’s a chain — so I wasn’t expecting to be wowed. Tonight, their email marketing worked. $ 2 taco night? Family of five? Sold. The fam and I went in early evening. Between basketball practice, school, homework– we were in. We were in a bit of a time crunch, but how long could it take for some tacos, right? You would think. Let’s start with the almost empty dining room — we were seated quickly in a booth, only to find someone SLEEPING in the booth behind us. I wasn’t sure if it was an employee, a homeless person, or a passed out drunk — so I went to the manager. This review is already long and getting on my own nerves. Cliff notes — manager #1 reprimands sleeping employee. Sleeping employee is angry and has the entire staff giving us the evil eye. At this point, I’m convinced our food is coming out covered in spit and pubic hair. Server — super sweet but completely clueless about the menu and specials. Gets out order confused and mixed up at least three times. Food shows up thirty minutes later, totally wrong and incomplete. Finally manager #2 shows up and tries so hard to make it all right, but we have about five minutes to spare before bball practice. Offers us the food to go, but really? Now I have a server who hates us, and some other unknown employee against us. Pubes in our dinner — to go? Im good. They can keep it. Long story short– or not so short — despite manager #2’s best efforts, we will not be returning. Get it together!

Best service and food we’ve had from a texmex restaurant. Oaks and Jonah are some of the best servers!!! Hospitality was very up beat and welcoming. Since we were on our anniversary they gave us free desert and that was so sweet. My boyfriend had unlimited enchiladas and after 2 plates was completely full, you really get what you pay for. If you sign up for email you can get special offers for free queso and sometimes deserts or discounts. To skip waiting when they are super busy I always sit on the patio and get amazing service!!!

Typical chain tex mex. It had pretty good service though so I like it well enough. Margaritas are overpriced and didn’t have much alcohol in them.(seriously $ 6, glad I got it during happy hour) The waitress got me to get queso without thinking about it, very smooth I liked it my wallet didn’t. They still had unlimited tacos so thats what my brother and I got.(kinda still wish I got fish tacos but from the other reviews, I’m glad I didn’t?) With anything that is like a buffet you will feel cheated. The food tasted fine I tried one of each(pulled pork, chicken, beef, barbacoa) The beef was ground beef and was really the only one I could differentiate from the other flavors. Kinda mad the charged for sour cream, a thumbfull for a buck ugh reminds me of the plate of lettuce my friend got for a buck(we will charge you $ 2 to put it on your nachos but $ 1 for this huge ass plate of it) Anyway service very good if a tad bit slow, food overpriced a bit for me and not nearly as good as the non chain places. Next time I think I’ll try that taco truck on campus or stick with something on Summer.

This place is pretty gross. OK chips and salsa and they sell beer. I just wouldn’t eat the food.

Ummm OK! I just went through my reviews and caught this one… I gave them 5 stars… but it was misposted. That review was meant for Booyah’s in Collierville. On the border… specifically this location, is HORRIBLE. I could go on and on about how the food tastes greasy and processed, drinks are lacking, service is really REALLY slow and crappy, management is a joke, seafood of any kind tastes spoiled and like rubber… but I won’t waste my time. I think that gives you all the gist. Best avoided! There are plenty of other options in the area… only thing positive about this joint is cheese dip and honestly… you can get that anywhere along with better food, service and drinks. OH and ps… you will leave this place smelling like really bad construction worker in the sun all day B. O…so if you do choice to not heed my wise suggestion of avoiding this place, then at least don’t go here before going elsewhere or everyone will think you haven’t had a bath in days.
