Their service and food quality is not consistence. It is just another mediocre sushi place. They should replace table and chairs. These are too dirty.

Poor service. Took my family there for dinner. Waited for 40 min during half-capacity hour and watched every other table get served. Will refrain from any ethnic/cultural/gender/etc profiling since this may have been a simple but an unfortunate anecdotal experience. Nonetheless, we left without an apology or acknowledgment. Cannot recommend based on quality of food since we never got to try it. Would dissuade anyone who asks from going based on service if you are of certain ‘type.’ Luckily there are many other sushi places near by that have good service with good quality food.

I thought that I’d treat myself and have Doordash deliever sushi. No soy sauce included! After paying $ 25, I called the resturant. The reply, «sorry, if you come by will give you some.» WHAT??? I had just had it delivered and now I have to get in my car and drive? No way. Sushi House is much much better and less expensive as well.

I give this place 5 stars because it is a great restaurant for lunchtime sushi. The food is delicious and they have a great offering for a sashimi lunch menu which fills and isn’t terribly expensive(lunch prices). The sashimi lunch comes with enough fish(I didn’t count yet), a miso soup and a bowl of rice. Today I ordered a Stanford roll in addition to the lunch. The roll was delicious but the lunch menu would have been enough already. Sometimes the appetite is bigger than the hunger. There’s only me to blame on this … PS: I finished my food, there’s always room for sushi …

Haven’t been here in years and it’s good to know the food is still that good. Akasaka roll, Lion King and the Tempura roll were delicious. Also the bento boxes were really good. We had the steak and tempura and my boys had the chicken tempura box. All of it felt like a homemade meal. Last the green tea ice cream was an excellent dessert. Great service and very friendly staff.

Once again, Akasaka Sushi did not disappoint. This was our 4th time as a team ordering take-out and frankly, nothing could have been better. We ordered a whole bunch of rolls and Tim said it would be ready in 50 minutes and once I got there, it was already beautifully packed in a platter ready to go! Everyone single member of the staff greeted me and offered to help and made sure the platter was to my liking. When I came back to the office with the platter of 11 rolls, everyone was impressed and I was hailed the office hero. Everything was good, fresh, and I didn’t feel like we were gypped with the quality or portions, like I often feel at other sushi restaurants. This time we ordered… Naru Roll Black Jack Roll– perfectly light and crispy panko crust that’s not like other fried rolls that use tempura batter and are too heavy. Dynamite Roll Kawaii Roll Fuji Roll Akasaka Roll Tokyo Roll Oregon Roll Sand Hill Roll– comes with seaweed salad on top. Great alternative to ordering a salad as a seperate appetizer. Edamame– great portion to share with 7 of us! Total $ 150 I really don’t know why anyone would have an issue with this place… I am very picky when it comes to sushi and Akasaka’s location is great, parking is easy, the staff are perfect, the prices are reasonable, the food is great, the restaurant itself is cute and intimate, and the quality is good. Maybe you just have to order take-out? And as an update to my previous review, the staff is Korean but, again, it’s not like it matters. So Kamsamnida! ;)

Servers were nice enough. The food was ok but too expensive. The place is old and looks it, not very appealing.

For the area, this sushi place is pretty good. The rolls can sometimes be a bit on the smaller side but I like them every time. There is sometimes difficulty ordering take out over the phone, but I haven’t gotten any order that wasn’t exactly what I ordered. The place is a bit on the small side, but cute and cozy.

I ordered dinner via Doordash. Most of the shrimp in the shrimp tempura had not been cleaned. Eel in the unagi donburi has rubbery(and prob smaller portion than most other restaurants). Chicken teriyaki was fine.

The 20% off is very attractive and the quantity of food in a dish is satisfactory. But when it comes to sashimi, it is not as fresh as that in other sushi restaurants in the area, but it may just happen the day that we were there.

Ordered takeout and got the blackjack roll. It was 20% off because of the anniversary special but so delicious. I like the owners too. Really friendly people. Parking is a bit strange but for an impromptu sushi craving, totally filled my fix.

A full four hours later I am mad that I wasted time and money on some rotting fish that is causing me to throw up. I should have realized from their cheap lettering on the door that there food would be terrible. I figured for the prices they were charging the fish had to be good quality. I know quality fish, I have been to the better places in San Mateo and Mountain View; and have visited Japan twice. This fish tasted off and I shouldn’t have eaten it.

Went to this restaurant last week and my friend, thinking it was a good place to eat sushi… WRONG! Again, it’s a Korean owed«Japanese» sushi bar and it was terrible. The guy behind the sushi bar took forever which we were the only two there. The rice was gross. Won’t be going here again!

Great service and many years serving the community in the food business. Perhaps they are due for upgrades in the interior and some recipe solutions to keep up with competition since the arrival of so many other sushi establishments. Many customers have been frequenting this business for decades and it’s nice to see this. The food is of average quality in freshness and portions. I had the bento box with sushi and chicken teriyaki. The teriyaki is covered in a very viscous sweet sauce and the sushi rice has a high vinegar taste. My friend had tempura and the batter was very thick and flour like in texture. This place has a special loyal following in the older community and I hope that this place continues to improve and evolve!

TAKE-OUTREVIEW: Four solid stars for the value of their Bento Box. I went with«Bento C,» which included beef bulgogi and six pieces of sashimi(chef’s choice), for only $ 10.95. The menu SAYS it includes a soup and salad(as should bento boxes…), but… THEYFORGOTMYMISOSOUP! :-( (…maybe they don’t have to-go containers for soup?) Anyways, I did appreciate that they put the salad dressing on the side, because most Japanese restaurants drench the lettuce with it. AND, not only did I get SEVEN pieces of sashimi instead of six, but the chef included tai along with the maguro. I love tai, and most places just give you maguro, sake, or hamachi with your bentos. The fish wasn’t the freshest I’ve ever had, but it was still good. Granted, it was sitting in my car for a bit… Akasaka is located on El Camino, but they have their own private parking lot right behind the restaurant. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The sushi chefs all seemed to know my name when I came in to pick up my order. Great place to get your money’s worth with a Bento, but make sure you check for the soup…

Review from real Japanese. Good. Authentic. I had Sushi delux, Chirashizushi, mussels, greentea icecream and greentea mochi icecream. Nigiri is authentic and good. Salmon was good. Some appertizers are Americanized but it’s fine with me. I recommend Nigiri. Not super overpriced.
