Its a very small place but overall is good. They have good number of options to satisfy your appetite. The service is always very good. I love the warm towels they provide so that one can be sure to have clean hands before eating! :)

Fresh uni from Japan ! Legit Japanese sushi here. Small portion though so it’s kinda pricy. We come here twice a month for the uni.

This is definitely a traditional japanese sushi place. If you are looking for Americanized rolls, yes it has the California roll, but otherwise embrace the tradition and enjoy some very good sushi. Customer service was great. Tea cup stayed full. will like to try some sake next time, but it was a work night, so I had to to behave

Decided to try a different sushi place in Menlo Park for a change and randomly picked Koma sushi. I wish I had seen the full menu before hand. The restaurant is a little small but I was seated right away. The menu was pretty underwhelming since there were not than many interesting rolls, only standard ones that you can find at any sushi place. I ordered a miso soup, salmon roll, salmon nigiri, and the soft shell crab roll(4 pieces) Miso soup was pretty average, nothing to rave about. Good portion. Salmon roll also pretty average of any establishment. Salmon nigiri was on the smaller side of nigiris that I’ve had at other sushi places so was a little disappointed with that since I got two pieces for 2.75 a piece. The fish was fresh but yeah small. Soft shell crab roll was not the best I’ve had before, it had a little burnt taste to it. Service was nice, a little slow though. The price was just okay. Personally, I would not go back to this place since there is a better sushi place down the street from where I work. The food here is pretty average and underwhelming for a sushi place. Kinda weird that they were limited in their salmon rolls but had a greater abundance of tuna. I prefer salmon to tuna so no, not the place for me.

I honestly didn’t even eat a lot here– my boyfriend had 2 servings of the salmon sampler which I had a little bit of and it didn’t blow me away. We ordered edamame and never got it, usually this wouldn’t bother me but I really wanted it! The place was packed– probably because most sushi spots are closed on Sundays. Service was fast and to the point– they weren’t messing around. They were hard to catch but this helped to get the check when I was ready to go. I think that there are enough other great sushi places around that we won’t add this to our regular rotation but it’s nice to know that it’s open for Sunday sushi cravings.

We ordered the deluxe sushi and the sashimi moriawase as well as two items off the specials board. Sushi wasn’t fresh and quality sub par. For the price point, I was very disappointed. The uni from Japan definitely do not live up to expectations, it wasn’t sweet like fresh uni should taste and had a strong pungent scent. It tasted pretty similar to uni you can buy yourself at Nijiya for a much better price. Service was warm and polite but quite slow. We sat down for awhile with no one giving us the menu or serving water. We asked for the check twice before getting it. Will not return.

First off, we waited a long time to be seated which wouldn’t bother me if we were at least acknowledged at the door. The waitresses run around the restaurant barely talking to you. It feels like they are rushing you in and out. The sushi is absolutely bare minimum. The special rolls lack imagination and are overpriced. The quality of the fish is questionable. The chirashi plate has more egg on it than sushi. My boyfriend and I feel ripped off. Don’t be fooled by the current reviews like we were. We will definitely never go to this place again.

My friend and I ordered takeout here a couple weeks ago. I was quite disappointed with the spicy tuna roll because you can very easily taste how old the tuna was… even mashed in the spicy sauce; it was way too mushy. The sashimi cuts were also too big that it made each bite a bit unpleasant. Overall, this was more of a negative experience so I rate it a two stars!

Very friendly staff and the food here is very authentic as well. I’m giving it 4 star because the place is not as clean as you’d expect it. Regardless, I recommend this place.

This is my all-around favorite sushi restaurant on the peninsula(Sushi Sam’s in San Mateo arguably serves better sushi, but it’s a hassle to get a table unless you show up right at 5pm). Koma serves fresh, butter-like slices of sashimi and a variety of delicious maki rolls. Even better, Koma offers a daily menu of fresh sustainable fish choices — uni, kampachi and other variations from the usual toro or sake served at sushi joints. And the servers and sushi chefs are friendly and efficient. Don’t expect a romantic spot: Koma is bare-bones and seating can be tight during dinner. But as anyone who has actually been to Japan knows, the best sushi restaurants aren’t always the fanciest places — quite the opposite in fact. The quality of fish and rice speaks for itself. Koma is authentic. Would absolutely give five-stars except take out service is sometimes hit or miss. You might be ignored if you show up to pick up your food during the very busy dinner hour, and on occasion we’ve ordered hand rolls and gotten standard rolls instead.

Wow we really enjoyed. Great sushi and the udon soup too! Excellent service, as well. Free hot tea, which was perfect after the sake tasting :) Five stars!

Really poor experience here. For the chirashi, instead of pieces of sashimi I got very thin cuts of fish that were not tender nor fresh. The piece of salmon had some skin left on and had a bone in it… Even the portion size was off, small compared to other nearby places. The spicy tuna roll was more mayo than fish, and the yellowtail negi roll was merely passable. I love sushi so have a lot of tolerance for lower quality stuff, but even I was extremely disappointed. The positive reviews for this place are frankly puzzling.

Sushi and fish tastes so fresh here. They don’t have too much to choose from on their menu but they had good costumer service. Always so nice and welcoming.

We love this place. I agree with some reviewers that when they are busy– it feels like you are being rushed — however, I think it’s because everything is prepared to order and they don’t want you sitting too long without anything to eat. The sustainable fish selection is delicious — Arctic Char being one of our favs. The soft shell crab hand rolls are so yummy and the yellow tail belly melts in your mouth. The sake selections are also really fun to try and share with the chefs! If you want crazy rolls this isn’t the place. IF You want really fresh fish, served by great chefs– c’mon down. Baba and Jerry are the best behind the bar.

Authentic, to die for, sushi restaurant. Tiny and unpretentious, it’s best to sit at the counter. Expect to play by the tradition such as drinking sake out of a Masu wooden cup. Useful to know: when poured by the waitress into the Masu cup, she’ll have the sake overflow into a little saucer plate underneath the cup, it’s a sign of prosperity. You’re meant to drink a bit from the wooden cup, then pour the extra from the saucer back in the cup once enough room.

— fresh live oysters(half shell) — daily fish specials(we always order whatever’s on the white board that day) — yudofu — seasonal sakes A small hidden sushi spot in Menlo Park. This place gets packed during the evenings! I recommend coming early(before 6pm). There’s a small parking area in the back and street parking. I really enjoy having fresh sushi here! My bf and I have been here many times! We always order their fresh live oysters in half shells! They’re absolutely delicious!!! It’s a bit pricey, but we’re always happy with the fish quality! I love seeing what daily fish specials they have on their white board too! We also love their yudofu(hot tofu) and seasonal sakes! If you go all out, expect to spend about $ 100+! Great sushi spot to satisfy your sushi cravings! Gochisousama deshita! :)

This is my favorite sushi place near Stanford. I have had just about everything on menu, and the chirashi(regular and special) are my favorite. The tea is superb. A must have every time I come. The staff is also very nice, and while the place is small and can get packed during the busiest hour, it is totally worth it. Prices are decent as well. Not the cheapest but good for students on a budget since you get very good quality food, service, and atmosphere for the money. All in all, you need to go.

I got take out from here, and it took them a while to bring me the order. The quality of fish was good, not outstanding, but good. The presentation was nice and the mixed seaweed salad was very good. I was lucky enough to find parking right away, but that’s probably because I came here at 9 pm, and I see how parking would normally be a problem. This place is however, a little pricey for what it is. I like that they don’t make you get 2 pieces of sushi, so you can get a better variety :)
