Karl’s Country Market

Very helpful staff helped me pick out the perfect sausage and cheeses to bring back with me to NJ! Everything was awesome, especially the Packer Sausage (green jalepenos and cheddar)!

Great meat selection! Best in town… I never know what to buy!
The only reason I rated 3 stars is because of the elderly female cashier. She is generally rude and makes customers feel unwanted. If their meat wasn’t so good, I doubt I would shop there because of her.

This place is great small, personable, fresh meats, reminds me of my childhood local grocers

A great little specialty «old world» sausage shop specializing in encased meats in tube form. Lots of the less popular ones too: Keisha, Mettwurst, Jagdtwurst, and all other sorts of würstchen you probably aren’t familiar with and lots of stuff you are. I really enjoy their Summer Sausage w/​garlic and their bologna sausage! You’ll find lots of smoked meats too. I usually get me some smoked breakfast porkchops. Karl’s is also a bastion of other German products such as condiments, snacks, cookies, and chocolates. During the Christmas season, all of the local Omas coverge on this place for their liquor filled chocolates. Their prices may not be the best on these specialties, but unless you know where else to get these things, you’ll probably not have a problem with it. It is the only place in all of Wisconsin I have ever found the Chipsfrisch brand of Paprika potato chips. Once they start carrying paprika Pringles, I’ll be in trouble. As a matter of convienence, they also carry a full line of traditional groceries. Their prices on these things are high, but the selection is better than at those big gas stations. Their hours are long, and their people are nice.

For a Memorial weekend family bbq my Mom treated us to a steak dinner. My husband and I decided to pick up 9 New York strips from Karls. We have stopped there on a few occasions with a good outcome. Unfortunately when we decided to spend $ 115 we were most disappointed. There was not one steak that was worth anywhere near $ 13.99/lb. Each one was grisly and tough. Rather embarrassing for my husband and myself that chose the place and spent my Mom’s money. I hope it was a one time occurrence but won’t be stopping again.

Karl’s is the one place I’ve found that reminds me of Felchneiders Meats (Oconomowoc — they are long gone). They were the butcher shop my parents used to buy all our meat from. Everything at Karl’s is FRESH and their selection is awesome! I highly recommend their Door County Cherry chicken. It was probably the best chicken I’ve ever had. (Sorry, Grandma.) They also have a little German market with groceries.
Overall: Karl’s has a great selection of meats and other produce! Their customer service is top notch.

Karl’s has some very good meat and sausage but I have had problems with the service. They used to have real butchers behind the counter but then they hired kids. I don’t like it when they put the meat on the scale without placing paper down first.
The service has gone down hill in recent years.

Karl’s had the most ridiculous lunch today. I went over and saw chicken fried steak so I would have that for $ 6.95. I didn’t know what I was getting for this lunch. When the man handed me the box I thought this is kind of heavy as I walked to the cashier. I told the cashier that I have not opened it yet but could you humor me and weigh it, she said 2 pounds. She asked what it was and said open it I want to see it and I did, she said it smelled good.
Inside the box was a chicken fried steak sandwich with sausage gravy, big pile of instant mash potatoes covered in sausage gravy, biscuits with sausage gravy and a cookie. See the pictures.
The chicken fried steak was fresh and crispy on that light roll with toasted like crust. The mash was instant potatoes with sausage gravy but ok. The biscuit and sausage gravy was a nice touch and as always the great oatmeal cookie.
Over all it was a lot of food and the thinking out side of the box that Karl’s does keeps me coming back. I liked the quirky combination and still love Karl’s. This will always be a permanent lunch spot.

Great summer sausage, brats, liver sausage. I don’t go anywhere else for quality meat.

I just got turned on to this place by our Unilocal friends Brian and Joanna– this place is INCREDIBLE!
Looks like they have a great selection of meats, but they also have a large variety of german groceries. Paprika chips, 6 – 7 different types of curry ketchup, pickled products etc.
This time of year they also carry a very large selection of German Christmas candies and cookies. Including the liquor filled type! Yumm!

Number one stop when I fly into town. Best assortment of sausages meats. They make a German smile and long for home!

Karl’s is a great find in the western suburbs — its a small grocery/​liquor store but you’re really here for the meat counter. Things that really make them stand out:
*Homemade deli meats & sausages. They have dozens & dozens of award plaques attesting to how good their stuff is. It’s mostly German stuff — leberkase (hard to find elsewhere), mettwurst and beautiful Black Forest ham that reminded me of prosciutto.
*Homemade summer sausages in at least a dozen varieties (garlic, salsa, pepper jack, etc)
*Lots of German & Eastern European imported groceries
*Really friendly staffers
*Paprika potato chips from Germany. This is only the 2^nd place in the area that I’ve found these delights (Old World Deli being the other) and I’m not ashamed to say I bought all they had.
*At lunch, the deli counter will make you sandwiches for a very reasonable price
*Whole beef tongues available in the freezer case. That’s right.
I’ll certainly be back… when they restock the paprika potato chips.

I’m not sure what happened to this place. We used to only come here for meat. Now it’s mediocre. Prices got a bit high for what it is. They do have some speciality cuts of meat and some jerky and beef sausage which is nice but it’s nothing overly special.

If you love great meats-Karl’s is the place for you. They have pretty much any meat you want to slap on your BBQ or on your stove. And the quality is good, we have yet to find a item that has not tasted amazing. This past weekend I used their catering services for a party and once again they hit the ball out if the park! Had the ham and rolls, smoked fish, cheese and sausage tray and pasta salad, everyone at the party raved about how great everything tasted. Also the employees are always there to help with a smile.

Amazing fresh brats! Tried a brat at their brat fry (name doesn’t seem to fit since they are freshly grilled out front if the store) and they were perfect! Served on a fresh bakery roll which was excellent!

I was on brat/​hotdog duty for a recent family camping trip and decided to procure our victuals at Karl’s.
Everything looked so good, and they have a ton of variety that it was not easy to choose what to get. I walked out with some regular and turkey dogs and regular and Packers (cheddar and jalapeño) brats. They were all so delicious, and I can’t wait for the next time we need to fire up the grill so we can try some new flavors. While these items don’t come cheap, they are well worth it!

My favorite meat market in the area! Great selection of bratwurst, summer sausage, Italian sausage, polish, Slovakian kranske,…you name it and Karl’s has it. My summer grilling destination.

There is not a thing here that is not great. I mean, don’t go here looking to do your weekly shopping — the grocery is small and the selection limited.
But go here for the meat counter. Sure, you can get all the german specialties you can’t find elsewhere, housemade sausages and all that good stuff everyone else is going on and on about. But don’t overlook the rest of the meat case. One of my favorite things are the various types of stuffed chicken breasts they made. Asparagus, cheese, stuffing, hashbrowns — whatever you’d like rolled up in there for like $ 3/​lb. Throw them in the oven, make a quick side and you have a dinner fit for a king. I love the ease and that it happens to be delicious is just a bonus.

Neat little market with great local foods. Awesome meat selection! Not the place to go if you are looking for a specific brand or item, because they probably won’t have what you are looking for. But if for are looking for some fresh food to put something together for dinner, then check this place out.

Karls is a great place. Not only for award winning sausage but if you work in the area, they have some great deals for lunch.
Generally in the summer, Karls grills out brats and hot dogs and serves them with chips and a soda for around $ 3 if I recall. This is their first lunch option and it’s super quick and easy and very affordable
The second lunch option is by going inside the store to the deli where they will custom make you sandwiches, but the best is the hot beef and cheese sandwich with curly fies and a cookie. The package deal is a total steal for how much food you get.
I have yet to try a wide variety of meats from karls, but their home made sausages that I have purchased were fantastic and of a good value.
Always pleased with my experiences here, and will always refer them to friends or those working in the area for a quick, delicious, affordable lunch.
