This place is so warm and inviting. Makes me wanna plan my day around my eating and drinking here! The house sauv blanc is light and has paired perfectly with the blood sausage app. And don’t get me started on their small but perfect rum selection! I’ll be back(probably in a couple of hours)!

This was a great find(another, thanks to Unilocal) for my last visit while in South Beach! I was really craving something different(ethnic, but not cuban) and relatively casual. I really liked the atmosphere immediately when entering. It was pretty lively, but not overly loud. We had an earlier reservation due to some commitments after, but it was still decently busy. Went in pretty hungry, so we got to ordering right away. For a drink I had the passion fruit martini, and it was really good. Not too sweet. We started with the ceviche– namely the tiradito and naciones– which was really great. The fish was very fresh and I liked the 5 sauces. If you like spicy, make sure to order some extra of the hot sauce. its amazing! We also had the Patacones with the garlic shrimp. Very flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend the garlic shrimp without a doubt. For mains we had the Picanna steak and I believe it was the snapper dish– which also had scallops, and I believe Calamari on top. I really REALLY loved the fish dish, I think I could have just kept eating and eating. The steak was ok. the chimmichurri sauce was very good that is served with it. The service was really good, very fast and attentive. Also, I think the pricing for South Beach is very fair, and these are pretty large portions. I would definitely recommend Bolivar!

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a late lunch. The place was almost empty, with futbol on the TV and a dimly lit space that suggests a wild time later in the evening. We tried the drink special a Caipiroska(caipirinha with vodka instead of Brazilian cachaça). We loved it, and our bartender/server Tomás was very attentive and pleasant. Next we saw tapas and decided to go for it with a variety of 7… best decision ever! Empanadas, mussels, plantain, street corn were a few of the choices we loved. So happy we stumbled upon this place!

We stopped in for drinks and tapas since we had a late dinner reservation. Maybe it was because it was late afternoon but much of what we ordered didn’t seam fresh it seamed reheated. We had the crispy pork belly which was super hard and dry, empanadas which were good, crispy green plantains which were also very dry, skirt steak strips which were chewy but well seaoned, fried cheese which was tasty, grilled corn cakes dry and tasteless, and sweet plantains that were delicious. Overall it was ok. Service was great and the décor was cool.

Bolivar has one of the friendliest staff I ever had the pleasure to meet. Everyone from the hostess to our waiters made us feel like we were dining at someone’s home. Our waiter allowed us to partake in happy hour even though we didn’t sit at the bar. His recommendations of beers were spot on(try the Dominican Republic lager!). The kitchen also gave us complimentary corn pancake appetizers, served with three kinds of dipping sauce. I really appreciated that they don’t play around with spice levels here — spicy means SPICY! We split the Eche Ceviche, which was endless amount of ceviche. I don’t know what fish was in the ceviche but the way it mingled with the mango dipping sauce created sensations almost like the way fluke electrifies your tongue. We also shared the steamed mussels and the plantains, which were equally great and filling.

I am Colombian and this place was just incredible. I found Bolivar through Unilocal and wow the reviews do not lie. I came with my boyfriend for a cute date night and we were not disappointed. I got the Bandeja Paisa, because come on, and it was soooo good. The presentation of the plate was impeccable and it tasted even better. It was a pretty big portion that I wasn’t able to finish the rice and beans. He ordered the Picanha and it was so flavorful and amazing. The decorations of the place were also pretty cool and modern. I loved that their drinks menu was inside an glass bottle, pretty clever and cute. The booths were also pretty comfortable. The service was good, but it wasn’t the best, they could work a little bit on that. However, the food was just so good that nothing could bring us down. We can’t wait to go back to Miami and bring other friends/family with us.

We came into bolivar on a rainy night and were pleasantly surprised by the warm vibes inside the restaurant. They had live music the whole time and it really made for a fun atmosphere. The menu is pretty big but they have options for everyone. I started with a glass of the house red which was very reasonably priced for Miami, at $ 7. The waiter brought out some complimentary appetizers, basically Colombian bruschetta with some sauces to add your desired level of spice. They were plain without the spice, but lovely with it. The green was melt your mouth hot! Very good. For our entrees my wife ordered the spicy corn on the cob with a sprinkling of cheese. Flavor was awesome! A little spicy, but just right. She then had the chicken noodle soup which was a big potion size and very good. I had some pulled beef on top of some fried green plantains. Very filling but great flavors. I also had the crab cake which was light and just crispy enough on the outside to add some texture. The best part was the chocolate cake at the end, it was moist, chocolaty and came with a bit of fudge on top. Everything a piece of cake should be.

Woke up in Mid beach Extremely hungry. Pulled up my phone to look for a place to get food. Saw this gem in the restaurants near me. Short easy drive from Mid Beach, Street parking was a little tough, we had to circle the block a few times to find a spot. We get in and feel like we’ve been pulled into a festival! The décor and ambiance is amazing. The wait staff is super nice and cordial. The drinks are nice and strong and well priced. The food was also amazing, and the presentation is out of the world. I would definitely go back!

So this review is for Jan 9. I wanted to details as much possible. I found this place through Unilocalers and I came here for my birthday weekend. This restaurant has a bit of every south american country main dish that you can think of. It provided a great diversity of food. Service: We had about 18 people, and they were quick on sitting us down and attending us. Appetizers came out rapidly and so did the entrees. The only thing that was bothering me, it was the slow refilling of the sauces plates. In addition, I added a few extra dishes that took over 30 minutes to come out. Sometimes I did see the slow service because my two friends did not get their dishes until 15 min after everyone else got Theirs. However, the restaurant manager recognized it was my birthday, they gave the entire table of free shots and gave me a free dessert with a candle and sang a birthday song. So that was pretty cool of them. They redeemed themselves. 4.5/ 5 Food: We ended up ordering a lot. I ended up ordering for both tables over 7 grilled appetizers, ceviche mixto, Picanha, and morcillas. The food was pretty good. They did not overcooked my steak, and the ceviche mixto had a perfect balance of flavors. However, the ceviche portion could have been bigger for the price value around area. The desserts were on point with 4 leches and quesillo. For the price of the majority of their food that they service, this place is a gem. I hope it stays that way and it does not developed to be a snotty pricey south beach place. Because right now, the price is right for the quality of the food. Anything more, i would second guess myself coming back.(4.5÷5) Atmosphere: Great environment. Simple as that. It is a bit smaller place but it has a full bar and live DJ with mix music on the small stage and I think sometimes they have live bands. I love the decoration of the place and the feeling of being in South America again.(5⁄5) Overall, I would come back and try out their dishes and see how their place turns into like a dancing lounge.

We had a late reservation and decided to come a bit early to have some drinks at the bar. Delicious sangria and my boyfriend had some cocktail with pisco in it, I think. The drink menu is encased in wine bottles, which was a fun touch, but made it a little hard to read everything. My only complaint about the establishment was the slow service — we were seated probably 20 – 30 minutes after our reservation time, didn’t get menus for 15 minutes, and then it took another 10 – 15 minutes for our server to take our orders. They were relatively busy, but not getting menus immediately was not okay. Fortunately, the food came out quickly and was fantastic! Definitely made up for the service. We had the«eche» ceviche, a citrus passionfruit ceviche that was quite good and came in a pretty generous portion. The lomo saltado was excellent as well, very flavorful, tender, and filling. The garlic shrimp patacones were awesome — I’d highly recommend these. We also ordered a couple tapas — the chorizo and empanadas, I think. While the chorizo was fine, it paled in comparison to the rest of the food. The«make your own» 7-tapas selections for $ 29 or however much it is now is an excellent deal, but I can’t speak for the specific options other than the two we tried. The atmosphere was very fun and trendy, with lovely décor. They had«live music» — really it was people singing and sometimes playing drums over a music track, and some dancing. They also kept singing happy birthday to various tables — I guess it’s a popular spot for special occasions! I would definitely come back if I were in town, but I would cross my fingers for better service.

Came here for dinner with two girls and had an awesome meal. We ordered artichokes and queso for tapas. For bigger plates the steak, ceviche and salad. The drinks were yummy. I got a michelada and it was great. The only –1 star was for the ceviche. The sauce was thick and didn’t taste as authentic as other places in Miami. Otherwise, all the other dishes were great. They also had live entertainment and for dessert the chocolate cake was delicious. Overall the price wasn’t too bad, we each had a few drinks it was about $ 80 a person.

The salmon entrée was pretty good. It was light and not heavy. We also ordered the ceviche as a starter. I wasn’t a huge fan of the tapas that we ordered. It was the fried artichoke and Colombian sausage ? The service was good, and the live music was nice.

So on our trip we did a lot of Unilocal searches for South American restaurants and things to do when it’s raining in Miami. The search led us to Bolivar where I would try ceviche for the first time. There was only two of us but we still opted for tapas and it was perfect because they offer 2 tapas for $ 12. We ordered the Colombian sausage and crispy pork belly. They’re fairly simple, nothing too memorable. The crispy pork belly should be really good with beer, which we didn’t have because we had maracuya and mora juices. The dish reminded me a lot of Chinese roasted pork especially the skin. Yum. For the ceviche, we had«eche ceviche» which was made with citrus passionfruit juice served with a crispy green plaintain. It was like eating sashimi except with juices, basically. I would totally eat this everyday if I weren’t afraid of mercury, to be honest. We split the main entrée which was Pescado Margarita. And by split, I mean I ate the mahimahi while my friend had the shellfish and everything else. Mahimahi was fresh and the mango salsa that came with it complemented it very well. We finished the meal with maracuya(passion fruit) mousse. A little too sweet for our tastes but it was strangely the perfect ending to the dining experience. Service was great, with our waitress very patiently explaining to us certain ingredients. She always had a smile on her face so there needs to be a star for that.

I had a long layover in Miami on New Year’s Eve. I was on my way back to California after spending 2 weeks in Puerto Rico with family. Needless to say, I had delicious food for those 2 weeks. As such, I thought my last meal for the year would likely be disappointing in comparison. Not the case here! I was lucky enough to get a table at 9:30 pm by reserving through Unilocal 45 mins ahead of time. Arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic and they still kindly sat me without any complaints. Thanks for that! Service: 5 stars. The staff was fantastic and friendly throughout the evening. Food: 5 stars. The patacones, ceviche and sangria were outstanding. Ambience: 4 stars. Our table was a bit small, and the restaurant is quite dark. It was a fun place for New Year’s Eve. Dishes we had: «Patacones de camarones» or crunchy green plantains with shrimp. We wanted more plantains since we had so many delicious plantain dishes in Puerto Rico. This did not disappoint at all. The patacones are crunchy and flavorful. «Eche Ceviche» includes a generous portion of white fish ceviche. It had delicious citrus flavor on fresh fish, quite outstanding. Likely the best ceviche I had in 2015. «Lomo saltado» is my go to for Peruvian food. It was flavorful and hit the spot, just like the rest of the meal. However, it was not the strongest part of the meal. I think the two appetizers impressed me much more than the lomo saltado. I had a few drinks, including their sangria, and I would highly recommend it.

My favorite Colombian-centric restaurant. Great décor, lots of energy, and energetic/friendly Latino staff. They have a full bar, and in a sign of authenticity, a selection of aguardiente. The setup has a small stage for live music with a sound-system to match. The house«bread course» are small arepas with savory topping. Bandeja Paisa is spot-on. It has slightly smaller portions(and more neatly divided) than any versions I had in Colombia, but delicious. Add the optional sausage(colombian-style or morcilla) to bulk up the already filling meal. Highly recommended.

Awesome place! Off Washington Blvd away from all the craziness of south beach lies this gem of South American cuisine. The restaurant is very contemporary with décor that stands out, like the floor to wall mirror at the entry. Staff is polite, welcoming and professional. They explain the menu well and point out the favorites. Food is good and came out witting 10min, kinda fast. My skirt steak, ordered med rare was slightly over done which made it tougher than I known it should be. The size of the steak was not adequate given the price. Instead the plate was filled with fries and minimal salad. Otherwise the flavor was good. The thing that stood out about the meal was actually the free appetizer and the 3 sauces. Very spicy but flavorful. Was expecting more from the food, but the rest was top notch!

BEST Peruvian food ever had! we came here when we were stranded in Miami for a day due to our first flight being late and was not able to make our original second flight. We decided to spend the day in Miami beach and try to find something good to eat before we head over to Ecuador for our vacation. We found Bolivar rated pretty high on Unilocal and decided to walk there. When we were at the entrance, there was a waitress showing menus to bypassers trying to get more business, which is not a good first impression on me, because it made me feel like it would be a tourist trap. But do not get fooled by that! the dishes are actually quite amazing! much better than the ones we tried in Peru! I would highly recommend the patacone with shrimp, even though it was labeled as an appetizer, it has huge portions, and each plantain patty has at least 3 jumbo shrimp on them! The salsa on top is quite tasty too The cerbiche are very fresh and refreshing, definitely try one of it The small plates are great too, really loved the garlic mussel, i feel like licking all the shells because the sauce is just that good! It is quite touristy there, but this one is not a trap, it is totally worth it to just stop for one day in Miami for it(sounds like the standard for a Michelin 3 star: P)!

We went here for dinner during our visit to Miami beach based on the good Unilocal reviews. They were not wrong. We had a great meal and and a wonderful time at this restaurant. We opted for several smaller dishes. We ordered the 6 shot ceviche which was a lot of fun and the flavors were really tasty($ 18). The glass with the«lu lu» sauce was my favorite, a little sweet and spicy. The wife got the Pantacones and loved them($ 13). The garlic shrimp is excellent and the green plantains were much better than I expected. Do not be afraid! I ordered the shrimp cocktail(coctel de camarones) and it was one of the best I have had except for one piece of shrimp($ 12). The one dish that I would not recommend is the crab cake($ 10). It is deep fried and greasy. A lot of filler and not much crab. It seems like it was from frozen but I can’t believe that this restaurant would do that because everything is so fresh and the flavors so vibrant. The service was helpful and friendly, but slowed down as the place got busier. The bill with tax and tip was about $ 100 but overall we had an excellent experience and I highly recommend this place for an upscale, flavorful dinner if you visit Miami Beach.

So good my friend and I walked in heavy rain to come here a second time! Bolivar’s atmosphere is dark, trendy and intimate. We were easily drawn to the bar(typical) and initially wanted to come for their happy hour. They have half off mixed drinks/beers during the weeknights. Both nights we came, we ordered 7 different types of tapas for $ 33. They bring everything out on a huge wooden platter and it was more than enough for two people to share. Our choice of tapas included dishes such as blood sausage, Colombian sausage, elote corn on the cob, chicken wings, grilled veggies, fried intestines, crispy pork belly, grilled steak(YES), fried artichoke with parmesan cheese on top, steamed spinach, mussels, and garlic shrimp. Great service and if I were to visit Miami again, I’d stop in for another bite.

This was our meeting place and our first stop during our South Beach Food tour. At first I wasn’t sure what type of cuisine this restaurant served but then our tour guide gave us the history of the restaurant. It is a Colombian/South AMERICAN cuisine. We were served their signature drink that is half and half of a beer and and the traditional Colombia soda called Colombiana. The drink tastes more like the soda. Very mild and delicious and refreshing. As a tasting we were served a scallop ceviche with a traditional empanada with a spicy sauce. The scallop ceviche was exquisite, not too sour, perfectly balance. The empanada itself was t salt good as it is made with potatoes however if you are not a fan of spicy don’t dip it into the green sauce. Very hot!!! The service was great too, not packed during our visit noon in a Sunday afternoon. You can find Parking anywhere pretty much. Very nice and cozy.

5 stars is a rarity for me, and usually only happens when everything at a particular restaurant is spot-on. Bolivar went above and beyond, and for that, a 5⁄5 is in order. My wife made the reservations based on the solid reviews on Unilocal, and again, Unilocal doesn’t disappoint. The location and vibe of Bolivar are both great — dark, dimly lit, and is decorated in South American garb and classy touches. Also intimate and cozy. Here we go: +Bar: got a Campari and margarita(my wife) prior to dinner. The bartender was really nice, and the drinks were happy hour pricing. Can’t beat it. +Wine pairing: We did the 2011 Chilean Pinot Noir. Delicious. +Appetizer: we split the Enchiladas, and got one of each(there are three total): chicken, beef, and cheese. Before we got them, the chef gave a complimentary appetizer of a tomato/churrizo paste wrapped in soft bread with three sauces: mold, medium, and hot. I rocked the medium, and it was fantastic. The enchiladas and the chef’s appetizer were a great one-two to get the night going. +Entrée: I had to get the Churrasco at an authentic South American place like this. Skirt steak, French fries, and a small side salad. The steak was spot-on; seasoned beautifully with a salty/smoked finish. Everything you’d want in a skirt steak was there. The fries were also seasoned really well and at perfect tenderness. The side salad was tossed in a vinaigrette which paired really well with the course. +Dessert: Cuatro Leches. This was a rice pudding-esque dessert with a caramel sauce. We split this, and left feeling STUFFED and beyond satisfied. Bottom line is I didn’t expect Bolivar to be that good. And it was. I HIGHLY recommend coming here for a South American-style meal you’ll really enjoy.

I almost went 4 because I fear I’m being to generous with my 5s lately, but my experience here was just too good. Ambiance is awesome. Almost feel like you’re in Nashville because it had a country vibe. Never been to Nashville but I imagine this place could blend in. Big bar that you can grab a drink at. Love that they have Unilocal reservations although I mistakenly made mine for the bolivar down the street(sister restaurant I guess) but they still seated us no problem on a Thursday night. Might have been a different story on the weekend. Tacos compliments of the chef to start. Always a positive. They were delish. Started with the empanadas. So great paired with the dipping sauces that’s came with our chef tacos. Bottle of Chilean wine for $ 27. Not bad. I ordered the traditional Columbian dish with steak, pork and sausage. The plantains were great although I’m not a huge plantain fan. The dessert was incredible. Had the cuatro leches cake which was unbelievable. The texture was a mix of rice pudding and flan, a little denser, but cold as a flan and rice pudding usually are served. Loved it. Definitely recommend a trip here!

Once in a blue moon, you discover a restaurant so great, you wish Unilocal had a 6 star rating option, you wish you can take the restaurant back to the city you came from, you wish to relive the every moment of the dining experience, this was one of them. We found this restaurant because we were looking for a good Peruvian restaurant with the best ratings for $$, and Unilocal told us to come here, and I am so glad we listened! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by smiling faces who seated us right away, we were given the menu and 2 complimentary corn cake tortillas with 3 delicious sauces. The corn cake tortilla was topped with some delicious freshly salsa, and the tortilla itself is meant to be a vehicle for sampling the sauces that were provided. The green sauce was darn spicy(habanero) but delicious since I am a fire seeker. There was also a creamy yellow sauce that was more mild and also very tasty, the light green sauce was not spicy at all but also had its own great flavor profile. We liked the sauces so much that we asked for seconds and our waitress gladly brought us another set of sauces to use. For food, we opted with the tapas option because we wanted to try as many things on the menu as possible. We got 7 tapas for $ 35, and then got another order of 2 tapas for $ 11. The tapas we got were Empanadas, Skirt Steak Tips(2 orders), Garlic Shrimps, Fried Calamari, Blood Sausage, Columbian Sausage, Crispy Pork Belly, and Spicy Grilled Corn Cob. Everything we got were just so so delicious, every bite was pure happiness. The tapas that I liked the most were the skirt steak, which was tender, juicy, fresh and well seasoned. The Garlic Shrimps, which grilled so well, with lots of spices and garlic to give it tons of flavors, and the Columbian Sausage, which was not only delicious but also very crispy. For drinks, we got a pitcher of Refajo, which is supposed to be a traditional Columbian drink made with beer mixed with Colombiana, a soda from Columbia. It was weak but delicious, it tasted more like soda than beer, but nevertheless very enjoyable. The décor here is subtle but effective, giving it a semi romantic vibe that we loved. The service here really is impeccable, we felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, until next time we visit Miami, I am looking forward to coming back here again!

An sieben Tagen geöffnet. Authentisch, unaufgeregt, gut. So ganz anders als die nervigen, touristisch überlaufenen Restaurants am Ocean Drive.
