What a gem! We stopped in before the full moon drum circle over the weekend, and I’m so glad we did! Cypo is a cute spot off Collins and the evening we went, parking was quick and easy to find. The staff at Cypo is very friendly and gave us great recommendations. We ordered Itaipava beers(great!) to go with the picanha special we ordered. You get picanha, rice, beans and two sides. We chose the yuca and potato salad. The picanha was well seasoned, the potato salad was delish(and I’m picky about my potato salad), and the yuca was the right amount of crispy and salty. The pricing here is awesome and you leave satisfied and not stuffed! So happy to have found this spot! We’re coming back to try other items on the menu for sure!

Authentic Brazilian food at a very affordable price. The place has outdoor seating(although limited) and of course indoor. The cooks and the wait staff are all Brazilians. I seem to find that these places tend to be better or more authentic when the staff is from that country or region. I had the Bife Cebolado! It was very good. It comes with rice and beans. The rice was good Brazilian rice. The beans were pinto beans and I would rather have black beans, after all that’s what my grandma would make for me as child. The beef itself is a thin Brazilian style«bistec» and it only comes well done, don’t expect anything else from Brazil. The passion fruit and caju juices are awesome, be sure to try them.

Cypo had the best Flan! It’s light and creamy and is perfect after a filling Brazilian meal. My boyfriend enjoyed trying the different Brazilian beers. My shrimp, coconut milk, and rice dish was delicious and had a perfect little bit of spice. Fried bananas were good too. We also enjoyed the Brazilian television programs they had on while we ate. It’s nice to watch something other than the American programs we have at our fingertips. Service was amazing too. Don’t miss this gem if you enjoy Brazilian food and find yourself in North Miami Beach.

This is one of the best places I had food from when I was in Miami Beach. The picanha with rice and beans was really tasty. Very friendly staff.

I would give the Cypo café 5 stars, but when I saw the charge for 1 drink $ 12???(really???)I was very disappointed. But the food was very good: we had steak and grilled fish and the flan for dessert –everything was delicious !

We were in Miami Beach for Art Basel. The food was surprisingly very good and so was the passion fruit juice. It’s conveniently located one block away from the beach and has outdoor seating which is good for people watching.

Walking down this stretch of Collins Avenue in the North Beach«Little Argentina» area, you might think the place looks rather shoddy. There are unassuming storefronts, some decrepit-looking buildings, as well as many closed businesses in the area, so you could be forgiven for assuming that Cypo is probably worth passing on. I know I felt that the first time I walked by with my friend, so I am guilty of it. I told him we should just get back in the car and head back toward South Beach. As we headed back to the car, he said he was hungry and I was being too harsh, so we should just pick something and eat. I decided to check Unilocal reviews on Cypo and surprisingly, I saw they were positive. The question was, could I trust my fellow Unilocalers’ opinions on this place? Did they guide me in the correct direction? I decided to give in – after all, how could so many people possibly be wrong? — so we turned around and walked by again, but this time, we entered. The place is not very large, and the décor was minimal. Despite the white tablecloths, the place was pretty casual and contained small groups of people, most speaking in Portuguese. A TV on the wall broadcast Brazilian TV local news and entertainment, so it really felt as if we were in a small street side café in Brazil. We scanned the menu and there were so many tasty-sounding options! My friend played it safe with a chicken parm(hardly Brazilian), while I ordered Bife a Moda da Casa, since I usually order chicken. It was fun practicing my Portuguese when placing the order! Each entrée came with a side of rice and beans, and a second side. We both got the house salad, which admittedly, was quite nice and rich in ingredients, compared to other restaurants’ house salads. They don’t provide dressing, but all the tables have balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper, so these are the ingredients you use to season your salad(something that some Americans might find cringe-worthy, as they are used to creamy dressings). I enjoyed my nicely portioned steak, as it reminded me of my mom’s steak, except she uses garlic, not onions, but the cut of meat, the size, and the homemade cooking style reminded me of hers. It was tasty and casual in its presentation. The red beans were a nice change to the usual Miami black beans and were also tasty with the rice. It was actually quite a filling meal, but we still had room for dessert. Watching the Brazilian broadcast, I heard some musicians being featured. I enjoyed listening to their music as we waited for dessert. My friend once again, predictably, played it safe by ordering a flan, while I, being the more adventurous one, decided to try the Pavê, having no idea what it was. The waiter explained to me in Portuguese that it is similar to tres leches but contains fruit on the bottom, so I figured I could not go wrong. I chose the pineapple one, though they also had peach and chocolate. Oh my! If you have never tried this, do yourself a favor and give it a try. I am a big time chocoholic but this dessert was enough to make the facial expression on my face say it all. My friend said I looked like I was in heaven, and my mouth definitely felt like it was in another world savoring this exquisite, sinful goodness. Truly amazing, and I was sad when I finished it(next time, I may need to try the chocolate one, though it may send me to an early grave!). My friend said his flan was the best he had in his life too, so it seems they not only make great food, but they are masters at dessert. In conclusion, I am glad I trusted the fellow Unilocalers — you guided me well and I have now discovered a delicious new dining option to add to my usual rotation! Thank you! Cypo Café has daily specials, so that may be a good way to try different things without spending too much. We plan to come back and next time I come, I hope to try the Feijoada. It sounds(and looks) delicious!

Simply excellent food and service! The server was very polite and knowledgable about all things Brazil. The food was a suggestion of his and I was not disappointed. I had Feijoada with collard greens, rice and Yuca Flour. Amazing!

Was flattered to be mistaken for Brazilian upon walking in, but then felt disappointed with myself for not being able to speak Portuguese(one day…). Regardless, I really enjoyed the picanha meal I had(~$ 18 including rice, beans, yuca flour, and a choice of side). There was plenty of lean, well-seasoned meat, and everything else accompanied it perfectly. Service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was nice and comfortable yet unpretentious.

We just can’t get enough of the Picanha from this place. My husband and I do take out regularly from Cypo and always order the picanha. It’s always tender and perfectly cooked as we like. Irate when places overcook my meat! The rice and beans that come with it are tasty and the fried yuca is the best I’ve had, better than any Cuban place. I must admit we’ve never had anything else in the menu, but there are always Brazilians eating there so I figure that’s a good sign

Absolutely awesome! Tastes like home cooked Brazilian food. Other Brazilian restaurants in Miami are poor imitations of true Brazilian home cooked cuisine. This place gets right at the heart of what grandma’s home cooking tastes like. Very tasty and fairly priced. I’ve been coming to this place for years and have yet to be disappointed. To top it off the service is very nice and welcoming as well.

The front of this restaurant is shy and umpretensious. The interior is simple. It’s difficult to park. There are not many seats available. But once you’re past this, you will eat the best brazilian food in Florida. Bobo, Muqueca, Picanha, Feijoada. And looking at many nice art paintings throughout the walls. The service has improved since we’ve first came to this place, 3 years ago. The crew is pretty much the same, very attentive, not pushy, they seem to have gained a lot of experience during this time.

Good value. This is the second time we come. The first time the food was great. This time it was still good but everyone’s food was a bit salty. The service is what affected the rating the most. We asked the busboy for water I don’t know how many times and we never got it from him. The young waiter(the trilingual one) was friendly and helpful.

Been there a few times always ordered picanha and no regrets. i ordered beef strogonoff because I wanted to try something different couldn’t eat it. It was salty, tasteless to the point I was getting nauseous. It was disgusting. Never order it again.

The picanha is the best in the city. You will not find a place paying for this plate only USD25.00 and so delicious.

Check it out if you’re in the area :) It’s pretty authentic, I loved the arroz and feijão carioca. That’s what’s up. In a place where black beans seem to be the norm(Miami), it was refreshing to get a real taste of home here. I found it a little bit pricey though and I was upset that they forgot my soda when I did a take out order :( Nonetheless, check it out — they’ve also got a Brazilian channel on inside.

The neighborhood has the moniker of «Little Buenos Aires» but don’t let it fool you — we’re also home to a large Uruguayan and Brazilian ex-pat community and it shows in our colorful storefronts sporting national flags, and in the case of Cypo Café — national treats. Having been lucky enough to have spent(never enough!) time in Brazil I am truly enamored with our Southern neighbor and couldn’t be more enthused that under Lula and now Dilma — the people are doing so well. But politics aside, if you’ve been to Brazil and you want to stroll down memory lane — Cypo’s is that little off the beaten path café you might have stumbled upon in Leblon or while trotting through hilly Minas Gerais. Just like that storied café of your memory — Cypo’s is here to serve up the piping hot beans and sticky rice topped with farina and ready to be served as a succulent abundant side to your steaming delicious feijoada. Fried yucca doesn’t disappoint as it almost cracks in your mouth as the skin separates leaving the molten creamy meat of the vegetable to coat your tongue and please the senses. Cypo’s might not be to everyone’s taste — I can’t imagine the crowds that tool around the Forge or Villa Azul dining here; though it’s quite clean, small and quaint and certainly not a hole in the wall or dive. BUT I could see the waiters, waitresses and restaurant help of many a fine dining establishment; who besides their good looks and accents are all too often invisible — who would probably dine here easily to be reminded of home. Yes there is a massive TV on one wall and naturally it’s playing some national version of a home team soccer matched interspersed with Brazilian home-away-from-home activities being held in Orlando and South Florida, so yes the language of Portuguese will be prominently spoken. If this rakes on your sensibilities and yet you still demand«authenticity» I don’t know why you live in South Florida but I mention this only because I’ve been(unfortunately) in the company of people who demand cuisine just like the host country it represents, and then rail about why no one speaks English. Like I said — this is the trip down memory lane — enjoy it or perhaps you’d be more comfy at the cozy Burger & Shake shack down the street. And that’s fine too. Shout out to my peeps who read my reviews(and you naughty few know who you are) — did I mention Cypo’s has a young handsome swarthy waiter or two!!? Mmm hmm. ;-)

I had not eaten here since they moved from the gas station around the corner, so I was overdue for a return! The location is obviously a huge upgrade! The space is small but comfortable. Waters were brought right away with the menus. Most items come with rice and beans and a choice of fried yuca, french fries, house salad or potato salad. We ordered the grilled fish with a house salad and the bobo camarao with fried yuca. The fish was a nice sized piece cooked perfectly! The salad was mostly iceburg with some purple cabbage and a few tomato wedges. The real star was the bobo! Flavorful shrimp in a creamy red sauce! WOW! So decadent tasting! The slightly sticky rice absorbed the sauce beautifully! Also, the fried yuca was heaven-sent! Crispy crunchy on the outside and meltingly creamy on the inside. Do NOT skip this item! The service was friendly and quick!
