After many years this place has closed :(. Sorry to see it go and it has been painful to watch its demise.

Hmmmmm, what is on the dream itinerary today… Fly to Nice? Export myself to Napa? Backpack through the Iberian Peninsula? Yes, yes and yes. After a bottle of wine or two at WD555, all of the above! Your«beer» goggles literally start to fog up from the vineyard cellars you are not actually in. The sheer feel of the environment around you makes you feel all cozy inside. Or at least that’s how hundreds of wine bottles surrounding me from all around the world make me feel, cozy :) The food was superb, please take that as pretentiously as possible, because that’s how good it was. But come here for a menu meant to pair with your choice of the most important part of your meal, the wine. The venue appears very cold on the outside and yet surprisingly fiery on the inside. Think somewhere along the lines of Sylvia Plath, but less suicidal. Definitely book your Über in advance and plan your next vacation here.

Julian is the man regarding choosing your wine for the night! Prices of wine are interestingly cheap for what you get and the selection is impressive. Did not have time to eat there this time but last time they offered us desert to my girlfriend and I for no reason, big surprise for a place hidden in the shadow!

We had an AMAZING dinner here last night. Though we live right near by, we’ve never been. We got the escargot, which was incredibly flavorful. Then the mussels in a cream sauce and the four cheese gnocchi. Both were delicious! We got more bread to enjoy the sauce even more. Then we finished with a chocolate lava cake that was TO. DIE. FOR. Everything from the service to the wine to the atmosphere was 5 stars. I highly recommend this place, and we will certainly be back!

I heard they is a new chef and wanted to try it out. Went for dinner and food is all homemade which is great and yummy! Tried the charcuterie and cheese plate, which is great, the homemade terrine of foie gras is delicious! The homemade pâté is just amazing, the bread is ok. Then i tried the beef tartar with homemade fries, 5 stars! My friend had the rack of lamb with fries and tomatoe provencale and tasted amazing. The crème brûlée and lava cake are delish! they have a market with tables around where you can sit which is cool, the bar is beautiful, the outside terrasse too hot in summer season. A great place to go hang out with friends for good wine and great simple bistro food with no south beach attitude! I will go back to try new dishes from the chef!

Good service, interesting atmosphere. Good date place. Wine tastings for free on Tuesday and Thursdays. Wednesday they have a DJ, which is weird and discordant with everything else they have going on, so avoid that day. Had the cheese plate which wasn’t that great and I would not get again.

The whole experience was amazing. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. We met the chef upon arrival and we were given the privilege of dining in their private dining room. The staff helped us select an excellent wine from the extensive wines available for purchase and we paid a very reasonable corkage fee. Our food was nothing but amazing. As was our server whom we all enjoyed conversing with. We appreciated the chef coming to ask how we liked our meals and they assisted us in obtaining a cab which was much appreciated. I will definitely be back on my next Miami trip.

We came here for a friend’s bday and it was a large group of people. We came in early and decided to go to the bar and have a drink. It was a pain to get a drink at the bar as the bartender was MIA, they were all really nice(from the manager to the servers) but when you have people at the bar and no bartender, that starts the night out wrong. Also, a friend wanted beer and they had no beer, but they were nice enough to get some for him. However, if you wanted wine(which is all they have) took forever. We found the service to be terrible. We sat at the table they had for us outside and it was too hot so we decided to move and asked the server for a table inside. It took also forever to get situated inside even though the place was empty. And our server was annoyed when she shows up after like half hour and we asked her where were our drinks… we had been sitting there for a while without any drinks or anyone to come to the table and ask if we needed something. When we did move inside, the server did try, but we all could tell she was really overwhelmed by the size of ur table, sh was definitely not trained to handle a large group. The food was ok, not great but not bad either. The lobster risotto i ordered was tasty. Overall ok, maybe better for a small group. My husband and i both ordered 2 bottles, but i still thought it was too pricey for what it was, over $ 400. Decoration is beautiful and it could have potential if service improves.

I made my way back here but this time around I brought 16 friends. It was quite a different experience than the first time. The place is still great as far as location and the atmosphere. However the service was quite lacking. We were the only big table and really on of maybe 5 tables full in the whole place on a Saturday night. We made reservations weeks in advance however there wasn’t much staff there and the one that was there wasn’t really on point with drinks. There were many times where a few were asking where she was and why hasn’t the drink come yet. That was a bit annoying since we were there to celebrate a birthday and have a good time. Kind of made me feel bad for picking the place. The menu was different than the first time I went as well. This one was labeled«Spring menu». who knew. anyways, I picked the Lobster risotto as did many of us, but it left little to be desired. I’ve had better at a take out Italian hole in the wall. I will say that they did try, but I guess I had greater expectations. I will go back but not with more than 2 – 3 people. THis is not the place for a large group.

What a pleasant evening! Walked into WD555& started the evening with a wine tasting & conversation with a wonderful young lady & Sommelier Intern. Then off for a stroll through a wonderful wine selection to chose a bottle of wine for dinner. Julien the Wine Sommelier was kind, informed & a wonderful conversationalist. Our waiter Bjorn chatted to us as we placed our order. We decided on Ravioli, Lobster Risotto, Lamb Loin, Crème Brûlée. We had an absolute wonderful & enjoyable evening in the Courtyard. Will definitely return & will highly recommend. We had a wonderful evening :)

Thank you for a romantic ambiance but horrible service on Valentines Day! I made a reservation a week in advance, Oliva called to confirm the day before not letting us know that it was a pre set Valentine menu. After being seated and given«regular» menus we made our wine selection and took our time carefully selecting our romantic appetizers and dinner choices. The server Loris took our order only to come back 30 minutes later to inform us that the chef was to busy to cook our choices and we had to have the pre set menu food. By this time we had a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails for dinner We are both locals who work in the Hospitality industry if we knew we were going to be drinking our dinner we would have picked a more suitable place!

A date and I met friends here for drinks. Maybe I should have done some research before I went, but I was UNpleasantly surprised by my experience there. I ordered a glass of wine, and I immediately got the«hard sell» that buying a bottle was much more economical than buying wine by the glass. I gave in and ordered a $ 27 bottle of chardonnay. I believe that was the cheapest bottle they had, which was fine because we were just looking for a quick pre-dinner drink(we didn’t eat here, thankfully). I was a little surprised when the bill came for $ 43.82. I quickly noticed that they charged me a $ 7.50 cork fee for opening the bottle of wine… that I bought from them… in their establishment. I have never seen that before, and I have bought wine at restaurants and«wine depots» at five star restaurants on five continents. I can understand a cork fee if I brought my own wine to this place(more on that shortly), but to charge a cork fee for a bottle I purchased on-site is ridiculous. It really felt like an «F-you» fee, especially since the bartender hard-sold me on buying the bottle versus single glasses of wine — without bothering to tell me of this extra fee. And you may think you can take your own wine to this place for dinner and only pay a $ 7.50 cork fee. WRONG! If you bring you own wine, the cork fee is $ 25. The friends I met for drinks actually ate there, and that is what happened to them. Needless to say, they were less than happy about the differing fees($ 7.50 versus $ 25) to perform the exact same service. I really feel like this place trying to squeeze money from their customers any/every way they can, and that really left a bad taste in all of our mouths. Moreover, these fees are charged for basically sitting in a wine store that happens to have a bar and a few tables. It’s not like it’s an elegant or trendy restaurant that can somehow justify any of these«F-you» fees that are charged. If you want to eat dinner surrounded by a bunch of open wine crates while people wander around shopping for wine all around your table, then get charged extra for«services» that you were not told cost extra, then by all means, go here. I can name ten people(namely, me) who live and spend a ton of money in South Beach every week who will never go back here.

I came here a couple of years ago, they may have been under different ownership. I remember I wasn’t TOO impressed. My mother had been dying to give it another try, so I caved. I love that they have a private lot. But if they are busy, there are very few street parkings near there. The concept of this place is glorious. However, their system is flawed. You cannot have a great concept without great food and great service. Service is bad. Very bad. Like it made me want to walk out bad. We couldn’t get water, we couldn’t get bread, we couldn’t get anyone to bus our table. After picking a bottle of wine(and getting charged a $ 7 corkage fee, not TOO bad), we decided the bottle was really awful and we couldn’t finish it. We couldn’t even flag down our waiter to tell him we didn’t like it. I proceed back inside to find another bottle. The sommelier ORWHOEVERHETHOUGHTHEWAS, bombarded me. I told him we didn’t like the one we had picked. He basically called me stupid and said I didn’t know good wine… um back up little man. He made me try another wine… hated it. I might also tell you, I had gone in there looking for a specific wine. I knew what I wanted. He finally caved and told me he would bring the bottle to the table. Once he came, he argued with us for another 10 minutes about how wrong we were about the wine. It took us 20 minutes to order an appetizer. Meat and cheese platter. Don’t get me wrong this was good, BUT you can tell it was made either the day before or that morning and then refrigerated. All of the meats and cheeses stuck together and the compliments that came with it were ice cold. It took us another hour after we FINISHED our app to order dinner because the water just would NOT come to our table. It almost seemed as if he was avoiding us all together. We finally ordered after waving our hands at him. We both did pasta dishes. They were OKAY. The thing is… for the price the portions should be larger OR the dish should be amazing. Most of the flavor was bland and the portions were teeny. When I am paying that much money, I like to take home left overs. Oh look… another hour battle to get the check and for them to bus our table. I would like to point out that the entire time we were there, the bottle of wine that we didnt like along with filled glasses SAT on our table. UNTOUCHED. even after we complained. The app plates also SAT on our table even after our meals came. Oh and the second bottle of wine we got(they charged us $ 12 corkage fee). And they never remedied the situation with the other bottle. It should have either been taken off our bill, or we should have only been charged ONE corkage fee. NOCUSTOMERSERVICE. TABLESWEREFILTHYOUTSIDE. BATHROOMSWEREDIRTY. EXPENSIVEFORWHATITIS. Just beware… I could go on, but I will stop here.

How do I go from a four star review to a one star! Let me explain: I have been a big fan of this place since they opened. Why? It is so pretty and once you walk in you feel as if you were far away from anything Miami. It is so refreshing with a nice bar, high top wine barrel tables throughout the small wine area. A very pretty cellar room and then the outside patio is so lovely and relaxing. We came the other evening after I bragged to my daughter how much I enjoy coming here. As soon as we arrived the Manager/Owner not quite sure who he is but he is always there asked if we had a reservation. I said no, so he took us outside and sat us. There was three other tables of guest and he sat us side by side, literally as people came in to dine he just kept sitting one table after the other. Very odd as the outside is fairly large and he had everyone lumped together. As usual I told my daughter I would go in and pick out a bottle of wine. As I looked around I wanted to try something new and different. I found a bottle called«Abstract» a blend of Petite Syrah and Syrah from Hillside Vineyards of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino. Before I found this bottle the tiny little Sommelier(I guess) who again is always there asked me if he could help me find a wine. I always say«NO» unless I can’t find what I am looking for and he usually gives me attitude. I take the bottle to our table ask the same waiter we usually get for an ice bucket to put a chill on it because their wines are room temperature which I do not care for. Our waiter is not rude but he is so awful. We had to ask three times for water refills, he has no sense of urgency what so ever. The lack of service here is beyond ridiculous. After several visits I kept ignoring the service issues but this night I just couldn’t anymore. We ordered the 555 platter after I bragged how good it is. Well my daughter pointed out how it is pre-made and all the cheese and meats were ice cold stuck together. On this particular night I believe she was right. So we start to drink the bottle of wine after I poured half a glass each and after about four sips we just could not drink it anymore. It had such a bad taste. It was very metallic, as if we were drinking pure metal. At this point I knew I had made a mistake with this wine. ok No biggie so I told my daughter to go get a bottle we knew we would enjoy«Belle Glos Clarke & Telephone». They had none left on the shelf so the Sommelier brought over the bottle and with attitude he said«Oh this is a good bottle» and I said«I know we did not care for the Abstract at all.» OMG, this guy was so upset and said it is a 98 point rated wine and you are the first person not to like it. Are you fricken kidding me??? First this wine is NOT rated 98 points anywhere. Then he had the nerve to say«see you should have let me help you?» Again are you kidding me??? He would have probably suggested this exact wine. He literally stood there arguing with me about wine and his opinion of WHAT I should drink. Then to top it all off they left the full bottle of Abstract with the un-drank two glasses on the table the entire time. My daughter ordered a pasta dish, I ordered the sage mushroom pasta dish which I enjoyed two weeks prior and yet again, disappointment hit. It was just OK. So we spent $ 220 or so with an auto 18% tip added. They did not take off the Abstract wine which was fine but it would have been nice to say something, anything about me paying with corkage for a bottle of wine that was awful. I was so disappointed in our evening! I had ignored the seriously BADBAD service or lack of any service in the past because I just really loved the vibe of this place but after spending so much money here I will NEVER come back. They do not deserve good local guest because they obviously do NOT appreciate repeat guest. You should be ashamed WD555 you had a true fan but no more, you really really really are terrible along with your staff with major attitude.

Wow. Totally unexpected. Don’t let the curb appeal, or lack thereof, fool you. This place is gorgeous inside, from the fabulous chandelier to the hot pink(yes) picture frames and beautiful patio. Lots of thought went into the interior design. Combination wine depot and restaurant, the space is bright, clean and modern. The crowd is largely European/upscale/foodies/artsy/wine snobs. You kind of feel transported to the French Riviera. Typically not a fan of French food due its the liberal use of butter and heavy cream, you won’t find any of that here. The food is fresh, light and just as well thought out as the décor. Be prepared for some unconventional additions, like edible flowers or fermented salmon roe. The charred octopus is a must, probably the most tender I’ve had anywhere. Tuna tartar, a no-brainer, as are the lobster ravioli, which are served in a surprisingly light, yet flavorful broth. The bottle of Sauvignon Blanc we enjoyed was a perfect match, crisp, dry and light. By the way, zero hangover, that tells me it was a quality wine. Look for some unoaked Napa Valley wines inside, while you’re here. The desserts are just as genius as the appetizers. The chocolate fondant is heavenly, fluffy, with a slightly crispy outside and a warm semi-liquid center. Anyone who’s ever tried baking a chocolate soufflé will know how hard it is to time it just perfect, to achieve that texture. The Grand Marnier soufflé was totally expected. When I hear soufflé I think warm egg whites, sugar and flour, fresh out of the oven. This was served chilled, so it was more like a foamy custard. The flavor was almost floral, very strong citrus and caramel notes from the Grand Marnier. Delicious. A special thanks to our waiter Daniel, who not only gave us 5 star service but actually made us enjoy the food that much more by describing each dish enthusiastically and in great detail. I felt like a judge on Top Chef, he really made us pay attention to the small details, like purple pansy leaves sprinkled over our beet salad. This place would be amazing for a lazy Sunday afternoon brunch. Unfortunately, they are only open for dinner at the moment. By the way, private parking lot is a huge plus for South Beach!

I wanted so bad to like this place. It’s getting one star because the(overpriced) food was good. Went on a date night. We are locals and support restaurants in the area. The service was TERRIBLE! So bad, in fact, it made me open a Unilocal account. We made a reservation. It was Friday night and maybe 10 tables occupied in the outdoor area. After a lot of time passed without someone even offering water we flagged someone down. He said he wasn’t our waiter but would assist for now(gee, thanks). It went downhill from there. No refills on water, no follow up, no asking if we would like more wine… They had the audacity to tack on a 15% tip! Thank god for my bf who told them to take it off. And the Manager didn’t even come over to apologize or assist! He was the one we kept flagging down. Go somewhere else! This place won’t last. So many great restaurants on the beach. Looking forward to seeing this place on Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares!
