If they realize you don’t speak Spanish you can expect them to serve EVERYBODY else before you. Even the people walking in after you will be gone before they even acknowledge you. I guess they’re letting you know that they don’t need any extra business. Ok :-/ Never mind that everyone else is tipping them coins and every time I come by(which is not often I must admit. Only when my daughter has a class in the plaza) I always tip at least $ 1 or $ 2 just for coffee but not this time. I only tipped $.65 and I don’t think I will be coming back here. I don’t enjoy being mistreated.

Okay so although they don’t speak the best of English, service is quick! The croquettes, guava and cheese pastries as well as the bocaditos are delicious! I place the pickup order the day before(special 1) good price too. $ 27.95 for croquettes, guava and cheese pastries as well as the bocaditos 25 count of each. While waiting for them to bring my order out I order a coffee. My oh my how I loveeeee Cuban coffee. The joint is not big but I love that you can sit at the counter to eat or take singing to go. Friendly staff, clean establishment.

Sunset Bakery has survived in the industry for many years. Their staff is always happy, polite, and friendly to all customers. They have excellent breakfast and lunch specials. You almost feel like you’re in a present day democratic Cuba at this bakery. You’ll love their Cuban bread, roasted chicken, congri, Cuban coffee, rice with chicken, black beans and rice, and desserts. The parking is spacious and unlimited. Sunset Bakery is as centrally located as they come right in the middle of Miami Dade County. With all years this place has survived, and the way the place always adapts to the times, you almost feel like you’re in an almost eternal environment.

this is your typical latin bakery offering everything from cuban sandwiches to even tequeños… it’s conveniently located on the SW quadrant of Sunset & Galloway intersection… parking is free and may appear to be plenty but that plaza is always full of people so parking may be an issue unless you get lucky… ventilation systems are not very good so expect to get out of there smelling like the bakery because whatever perfume you’re wearing will be nonexistent even though you may just be going in to pick-up a to-go order… there is bar-style limited seating and the place can get cramped during the usual peak hours… make sure you make the line on the right to order before you sit down.

Love this bakery! Their croquetas and cortaditos are a must in my morning regimen on my way to work. The pastelitos are good, not the best but are very good. Thier breakfast specials are also a must try. I am looking forward in trying other items in theie menu soon.

I grew up eating at this place. It has been around the corner from my family home since I was 5. So basically I have loved this place all my life(at least the parts I am able to remember.) Whenever I land in Miami we stop here before we even get home. That’s how much I crave it when I am away. What to get: Comida por libra, any of it. Pan Cubano — my fave in the city croquettas — also my faves Pastelitos de quayaba, not the best in the city but pretty damn good. BEST Cuban Sandwich in Miami. Period, end of argument, I don’t care what you say or if you think you had a better one in some other place. This right here, is the best Cuban Sandwich period! One more thing, they squeeze their oranges fresh here, as do most places in Miami. It’s delicious and you should get some. Preferably with your Cuban Sandwich.

As a resident of Miami for 20+ years, my Spanish has not gotten any better. With that said I utilized my limited Spanish vocabulary, gestures, and pointing to get some good food. :Pats self on the back: I basically used three words, «para llevar» and«si» during the ordering process. The lady helping me replied in rapid Spanish, i understood nothing, and my only reaction was to stare blankly back at her, while starting to nervously sweat. Despite the language barrier, I was able to order Pan Con Bistec($ 5.75) and Pan Con Lechon($ 5.50). The prices are comparable with other restaurants, and both tasted good. Both were pretty large portions and filling. What makes this place 5 stars is the tasty affordable treats. Shortorder’s list inspired me to try #38, cheesecake flan at Sunset Bakery and is was soooo good. The cheesecake and flan married well creating a wonderful texture that melts in your mouth. It was creamy but wasn’t overly rich, which surprised me. It wasn’t overly sweet like many cheesecakes or flan I’ve eaten, which was good and bad. Good because I could eat more of it, bad because I could eat more of it. I also had the senoritas, custard filled flaky pastry with powdered sugar goodness. Both desserts are $ 1.50, Yes that is the price, its a sugar rush high waiting to happen. On a side note, I bought a pedal stopper for my car, which is a small white rubber stopper the size of a marble, and it cost more than the desserts i bought combined. The stopper was $ 3.50. The portions aren’t small either. I wish I took a picture of their dessert display window because there were varieties of other delicious treat, like tiramisu, chocolate cake, and i think i saw a cannoli. This is another gem in a shopping plaza filled with other gems, Sushi Bar & Jamaican Kitchen. Sunset bakery is also a cafeteria serving Cuban food. Don’t miss out on the desserts, I know I will be back again.
