As usual, Back Street didn’t disappoint. We’ve been enjoying lunch here after watching the Middleburg Hunt stroll down Main Street to start off«Christmas in Middleburg» since 1994. We’ve only missed 2 times due to weather. That’s a lot of history. The key to dining here on «Christmas in Middleburg» day used to be to hoof your way over as soon as the horses had made their way down Main Street. But now, apparently you need to make reservations. Luckily for us we were just a party of 2, & when we explained our decades-long tradition, they squeezed us in. As usual, we both enjoyed cups of the Tomato Basil Soup. Ambrosia. I had my usual(as in every year since 1994 usual) «Crabmeat & Artichoke Crostini», which came with their lovely house salad & choice of 2 homemade dressings. Hubby enjoyed his Smoked Turkey Panini with Arugula Mayonnaise. It was funny, but we both reminisced about the days when there wasn’t any«special» menu for the day, & when«Back Street» was actually a somewhat hidden«back street» eatery. While it’s still in the exact same location, there’s now very frequently a line of folks waiting to get in. But we are happy that they’re still doing so well. So many other restaurants in the area that we really enjoyed are gone now. Sort of disappointed that after enjoying their hospitality over the decades that next year we’ll have to remember to make a reservation if we want to have lunch there after the Middleburg Hunt parade, but that’s small potatoes. Service was friendly & competent as usual, & the whole delicious lunch — including tax & tip — came in under $ 25. Try finding a bargain like that anywhere else in that area. I dare ya — lol!

I’ve been going to Backstreets for over 6 years, The food is consistently amazing and the wait staff is like family now. Even though I live in Richmond, va now I still make a point to drive the 2 hours to get there as often as possible. The ravioli is to die for, the pizza is good, the wine selection and house wines are great and I love the salads, fresh and I like to mix the 2 house dressings together. I think the review above has the wrong restaurant as I’ve never seen a «salad bar» at backstreets in 7 years. The cook staff goes out of there way to make the best food and even when something wasn’t on the«special«menu once, they made it for me anyway I look forward to going there in B-DAY coming up. This is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in the country. The Shed in Santa Fe and Steinhiblers in Virginia Beach, being the other 2. There are few places better and none better in Middleburg.

Apparently this place used to be good .but definitely is no longer. We came here for their mussels but were informed they no longer have them on the menu anymore because no one ordered them. They served moldy fruit and their salad bar was old and also spoiled. Green mold spores on all of it! Not just one piece. I do mean ALL! When we informed the woman serving us(and possibly owner) all she did was blame someone in the kitchen and grinned. Really?! She did not offer anything else in place of it probably because they had nothing fresher to offer and there was no offer of adjusting our bill either. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else(and to avoid getting sick!). Should not be hard to beat it and shame on them!
