Goldilocks has always been the go-to place for Filipino food when they were in Brokaw Road. I remember growing up as a kid in the South Bay, we would always go eat there on the weekends and find it difficult to find eating spots. Yes, that was how popular Goldi was! However, when they moved to Landess and form a Filipino«plaza» there with Grill City, ChowKing, Valerio’s, etc., the vibes just isn’t the same anymore. Even the quality of food had changed; somehow, what was one«golden» Goldi isn’t golden anymore. Maybe because the food at the other places are better, and also more affordable. One great thing though I will admit is the fact that their halo-halo is still the reason why I go to Goldi for dessert. I sure wish that they find a way to make the once Goldi golden again… until then, my experiences at Brokaw Road will resonate as I eat great Filipino food elsewhere…

I think I usually get the lechon kawali or, the bbq sticks. But since we left the city without hitting up LIng Nam or, Lucky Chances. Decided to go to the heart of Filipino town 3.0 aka Milpitas. Order – Fresh umpia Rice Tocino. Food was pretty good. Served buffet style so, it was already made. However, there were some items made when you order. I can’t say it was one of the best foods I’ve had. It was enough.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that the prices keep getting higher, but the quality has gotten lower and lower. The last time I went there I bought a single order of Bopis and one of Beef Caldereta for almost $ 16. It was at that point that my wife and I decided that we would no longer be buying food from Goldilock’s. For those prices, we would much rather go to Max’s or Kalesa. One of our go-to entrees is the Chicken Adobo. The last few times that I bought that, I found the flavor to be bland and unsatisfying. Most often in their beef and pork entrees, the meats have been very fatty. Then there are their ever-changing and confusing lunch combos. We’re paying practically $ 10 for very moderated and measured servings and you could only pick from certain groups of food on certain days. For $ 10, shouldn’t we be able to pick whatever items we want? Then there’s the service. What happened to all the friendly and patient ates and lolas? Now we have to deal with younger people that talk way too much and loud and some that even give you attitude. Cost-cutting at its worst so you end up customer-cutting as well. No wonder they had to close their Hostetter Road location. Wanted to just give one star, but added one because of the memories. :-)

I love Goldilocks. Not this place I love the one in San Jose and the one in San Francisco. In the late afternoon I took Skye and my sweetheart to eat here. I ordered: Kare Kare — meat was dry and tasted old and this was 10.00 for this crap Beef stew — this tasted good — 1 star Sitaw at kalabasa — tasted average 1 star And chop suey — no salt, no flavor No ice in dispenser on a very hot day Employees need to get it together and stop being lazy. Fix what’s broken.

Bad management. The cashier was the only one preparing the orders while TWO people were gossiping and«fixing» the to-go containers. There were already 12 people in line!!!

I personally saw them put the hot bun which was dropped on the floor back to the tray to sell to it to the next customer. It was on the ground!!! OMG!!!

Service here sucks. The workers I encountered are all loud and unprofessional. Last week I decided to try their Sans Rival dessert since Luisa N’ Sons did not have it in stock. What a big mistake. I bought the round one for more or less $ 27.00, oh what a waste of money. It was stale and lacked flavor. Just yuck! It sure tasted very old. Too bad I was told over the phone no refund. I also ate their ginataang munggo. Likewise, I was dissatisfied. It lacked munggo beans and much worse, it had fresh ginger bits in it!!! Since when did a guinataang munggo had ginger in its recipe? So nasty! Now to their gulaman/sago drink. What is the bitter taste in it? How do you mess up a simple sago gulaman drink? Learn to cook your syrup right! This place clearly need to re-train their employees in cooking/baking their goods.

This is one of the decent Filipino bakeries you’ll find. You can’t go wrong with their Buko(Coconut)Pie, their hopia(similar to moon cake), their brownies, and their other baked goods. I don’t recommend their Sylvanas cookies because I just had better in the Philippines. Their home style cooked meals are also decent. Not the greatest and also pretty minimal in portion. Three stars because– Buying food & pastries here makes me feel like I am being robbed. If you eat one of their steamed buns and couldn’t find the meat, you’ll know exactly what I mean. It seems when I order something here, I always have to get two servings or I won’t be satisfied. It just rubs me the wrong way because it is minimalist. We’re not in the Philippines anymore so increase the amount of food you serve. I’m also disappointed that they closed the store in Hostetter and kept the smaller stores. I grew up eating in the Hostetter restaurant and I’ll surely miss it.

I come here occasionally with my parents. This time I came alone which was a bad idea. I ordered fresh lumpia is and white rice which came out to be ~$ 7 which isn’t too bad. I typically get the fresh lumpia whenever I come here. I didn’t have to wait long for my food. The bad part of this experience was when one of the workers, a young Filipino guy in his 20s I would guess asked me where I went to school and told me I look like I’m in high school(I’m in college). About 2 minutes after I sat down and started eating my food, he sat a few tables next to me and tried talking to me. After denying his request to add me to Facebook he finally left me alone. The sad part is that his other coworkers were around in this scenario. Filipinos are very friendly but it’s not hard to tell when a guy is trying to hit on a girl that clearly isn’t interested. As I was finishing my food, my stomach began to hurt a ton. Basically, never going back to this Goldilocks location again

It’s really disappointing when you buy something and the quality is below par! And it’s more disappointing when you buy a cake for your Mom’s birthday only to have it taste like crap after she blows her candles! I bought a sans rival for Mom’s birthday today and it was a waste! Pure waste! It’s definitely not fresh and you can tell it’s been sitting in the freezer for at least a couple of days! How is this place even allowed to sell mediocre goods? Never again! You suck Goldilocks! You deserve your two crappy stars on Unilocal

Ginataang Pork and Filipino Beef Steak are salty but I got to say Halo halo is delicious I like it better with chowking’s or jollibee’s halo halo. Pastries in Goldilocks are still the best the reason for my 4 stars.

The poor rating on this Goldilocks is well-deserved. I’ve been here 3 times because of Aroma and Coffee Adventures next door. SERVICE First, I’m not Filipino and I don’t speak Tagalog. The employees seem to not know how to deal with me. One time they passed me off to another person when I asked for a recommendation. The last time I went, I was browsing the pastries, and I asked one of the employees(who was staring at me) «what is this?» about one of the unlabeled items on the table. She gave me a name that meant nothing to me… and then immediately walked away! I stood there like an idiot for a minute before leaving, since they don’t care about my business. I looked it up later and she most likely said«Bibingkang Galapong». Like I’m supposed to know what that is if I’m confused enough to ask you about it. FOOD I don’t have any experience with how the food is supposed to taste. Sooo… take this with a grain of salt. — Fresh Lumpia: Really unpleasantly sweet. It came in a black tray and there was so much sauce it just covered the bottom. No problem, I’ll order something more savory next time… — Pork Adobo: This was so oily. Looked similar to thit kho… but I love thit kho, and I couldn’t eat this. OTHER This place is really dark. Since I never see any customers, I find it pretty weird. Basically… I would just go somewhere else.

I rarely come to this food chain, but when I do I like to order one thing: halo halo. For whatever reason they keep screwing it up here. This is terribly disappointing as this place has the potential to be something great. Get air-conditioning for your staff and customers and make better food.

Not sure why people doesn’t like this place. I do. I come here if I’m hungry. I’ll point the food that I like, they will prepare and it will be ready quick, hot, and fast. That easy. What makes it complicated? If you do not know what you want to get. Or the line is long, short staff, and too many choices. Otherwise, it’s like 1−2−3. There you go!

Im so disappointed. It was a few minutes before 11 and the sign said they serve breakfast til 11. I asked the lady and she said they were no longer serving breakfast. Oh yeah $ 8 for 2 pieces of small meat?! No way. My family does great business with them, since I was by myself they took advantage of it. Service sucks! They also did NOT give me a receipt! Makes me wonder. Were they purposely overcharging me? Oh yeah, the guy in the kitchen was trying to talk to me, like get at me! Damn I’m just trying to eat, leave me alone please. Do not come here and save your money. There’s plenty of filipino food else where.

I wonder if Goldilocks reads these. So the one I went to in Daly City, the manager yelled at our group and threw some puto at us because one of our party members did not like the food. This one however, gave me cold palabok. And when I told the chef it was cold, LIKEALMOSTFRIDGECOLD. He made fun o my American accent(I’m Filipino) and then they gathered in the back and talked about it and the cook made an embarrassing gesture and yelled really loud and flailed his arms around to imitate me. When all I said was: «this is like, really cold.» I got it back, it isn’t cold but lukewarm. I’m just upset because I remember when Goldilocks had great service, food, and hospitality.

–3 stars for poor food quality. Steamed rice was oily, garlic rice was oily, their scrambled egg and sunny side egg were literally swimming in oil, and their tosino was 50% fat and also swimming in oil. We came from Orange County so we wanted to get some eggs and plain rice for our dogs because that’s their favorite, but they wouldn’t even touch the eggs and rice here even though they were hungry. And that says a lot. Do you really need a cup of oil to fry an egg?! –1 star for misleading advertisement. «Buy one get 1 free» is so stupid. What they really mean is you buy 12 pieces of whatever and they’ll give you 1 piece for free. So effing stupid. –1 star for terrible service. The people in there weren’t clear when I asked them questions. And when I got my order to-go, they didn’t provide me with napkins nor utensils. Not one piece of napkin to wipe all that fat/oil away. If I could, I’d give this place negative stars. Overpriced food that are poor quality and terrible, annoying service. Save your money and eat somewhere else.

Filipino food is alright, nothing beats my dad’s home cooked meals. They’re bakery however, is very good. Love the mamons and polvoron! When I went in it seemed like the lady only knew how to speak tagalog and I was responding in english(because I don’t know how to speak it), but eventually we understood each other. 4 stars for their bakery
