This is one of my favorite dim sum places. –The carts circulate around the restaurant faster than most dim sum places. –Fast service, especially when refilling the teapot! –Xio long bao is delicious here! I can’t remember if it’s on the menu, but if it’s not, ask for it. –The char sui bao is oh-so-tasty. The filling is perfect, and the bread is soft and fluffy. –Delicious xia san bao(when it’s not too milky/buttery).

This place is walking distance from where I live so I guess it’s convenient, not too shabby for dimsum either They do not have ladies pushing carts around and you point to what you want to order. There’s an order sheet and you mark how many portions of what you want. + pretty fresh dishes + cheap! — so-so tasting — service

Cheap prices for dim sum @ lunch. However, recently their service is very poor. It takes 15 – 20 min before your order comes. If it’s a busy time(usually is at lunch), be prepared to be there for an hour or so. Dim Sum food quality is pretty good. They’re usually not busy for dinner, prices are decent for traditional Cantonese style food.

Dim sum is good with fair price compare with other chinese restaurant in south bay. I love the lobster Yi mien, it’s really good. I have tried almost all their dishes, 90% are very good, only a few are little too sweet. I would give 5 stars, if they have more waiters to help serving when they are busy.

This place has really good dim sum, and the dish ranges from $ 2-$ 3.5. I came here on the weekend, too. When you walk in, they hand you a piece of paper. You basically mark how many orders you want of each item. We ordered the usual shrimp dumpling, sticky rice in banana leaf, tripe, shrimp rice noodle, shanghai dumpling, chicken feet, etc. You have to wait about 5 minutes before your first dim sum dish comes out. All the food came out pretty warm and hot. I love to eat dim sum when the dishes are hot. =) I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. Everything was really tasty! I noticed a lot of the dishes were considered ‘small’ or ‘medium’, so it was cheaper than going to Mayflower. Sometimes the waitress will walk around with a tray of buns, too. After all your dishes are brought to your table, they mark it off the receipt. You are given a brand new order sheet if you want more food. =) I kind of prefer this method of dim sum.lol. I enjoy how you can just tell them what you want, and it is brought out to you. I plan to come back for more great dim sum! =)

I heard about this place from my MIL. She told me that during the week(Mon-Fri), dim sum was $ 2 so I had to check it out. Of course, we went by noon to get seats. I quickly noticed that they don’t push carts here. You have to order on paper, which can be good and bad. Good because it’s made to order and likely to be fresh from the kitchen. Bad because they could be serving old food just heated up and it can take long to get your food. Service was extremely slow. We didn’t get our first dim sum until 25 minutes after we ordered. We tried their shu mai, har gow, flat rice noodle with pork, taro pancake, pork spare ribs, pork buns, and sticky rice. The shu mai consisted mostly of pork, while I like mine with bits of shrimp. Food was not bad for being $ 2, but taste/quality-wise, you can’t compare to Mayflower or Dynasty. We also tried their beef chow fun which was $ 7. It was actually better than I expected. Greasy, but not too heavy in flavor. I have yet to try their cheap dinner.

Came by for a weekday Dim Sum, since all dishes are supposed to be $ 2…waitress informed us that since Christmas is a holiday, regular rates apply… Ordered Dim Sum, which is typical HK style. Food tasted pretty good. The sequence and timeliness of the Dim Sum was very leisurely… Service was non-existent… Porridge came first and the oil sticks that are supposed to be eaten with the porridge arrived 20 minutes later… Gave credit card for payment and credit card came back ~5−10 minutes later since there was a «big line of cards that need edto be processed» …a quick glance at the payment counter revealed 0 employees standing behind there…

Went to this place with a group of friends(8). We order 10 items. We got 9 of the items and it was pretty decent. We asked what happened to the 10th item. They kept saying” its coming its coming”. Asked 20 minutes later…“Its coming, its coming”. We paid what we ate and said«we’re going we’re going»

Man, I want to cry because I just finished writing a long review for this place and I accidentally pressed backspace, which took me back to the business page and, when I came back, all was lost. *cries* Here’s all I can remember of what I wrote. I’ve been here a couple of times with family, once for a banquet and another for a family dinner. I finally got to try out the dim sum(by recommendation from my mom) with a friend. For the dinners I really enjoyed their XO beef with long beans. I don’t think that was the name of the dish, but I think that was what it was. I love long beans! And they cooked it perfectly, not too limp with a nice bite. Some of the dishes seem kind of small portion wise though. There was one time my friend and I were trying to come to this place at what we thought was prime time for dim sum, around 10/10:30, but we sadly found that this place doesn’t open until 11, so we headed to Mayflower(which we also found opens at 11, but we waited there). Upon a second visit, we were seated quickly at what we thought was prime dim sum seating as we were right by the food car exit, but we found that it wasn’t so great. We were starving and sad to find that there wasn’t much available in terms of selection(which grew wider later on). We ordered a «see yao wong chow mein”/soy sauce king chow mein(haha, my translations suck) to sustain us until the good stuff came out, but found that it was too much for two people, leaving little room for other dishes, which is key for dim sum. Portion sizes of their dim sum are GINORMOUS. Their«har gao”/shrimp dumplings were huge and tasty. Many of their dim sum fare were rather good. The must orders: — «nor mai gai”/sticky rice wrapped in some leaf — «suit san bao”/snow mountain bun(AMAZING, if you like«bor lor bao”/pineapple buns, which are custard filled, you will definitely like these taro filled buns, which are not too sweet and totally delicious, get them while you can, these things go fast) The avoid order: — «do fu fa”/tofu with sugar syrup(I typically love this stuff, but they didn’t put enough of the simple syrup, so it wasn’t sweet enough, it was so bland it was hard to get through) One question I have is, what the heck happened to their chairs? All the seats are frayed, and I’m not talking about one or two chairs, I’m talking about all of them. They weren’t like that the last time I went. They play dramas on the TVs in the corners. I remember seeing one where this guy was having a heart attack and was clutching his chest as he was frantically, and failing, to pick up some pills that he had spilled all over the floor with a strange grace. I don’t know if you want to be eating to that. I’ll definitely be coming back as this place is frequented by my family(and we know one of the managers), especially because I won’t have to pay for my food. Haha.

This place has gone under new ownership so many times! We came at 1 pm and it was still packed – waited about 15 – 20 minutes. However, we had a really good time and the food was tasty. The cart ladies were super nice and took time to show us dishes and explain what was what(we having only limited Cantonese speaking abilities). The typical har gow, siu mai, bbq pork buns(SOGOOD), ha chun, pork spare ribs, shrimp dumplings were all delicious and they were quick with clearing and bringing more tea. The food came out hot and fresh and we didn’t ever wait too long for a car to come by. I guess if we had come during peak noon time service might’ve been worse but I really liked this place. $ 60 for 5 ppl.

I heard rumor that this restaurant is run by a former chef from Hong Kong Saigon Harbor Village Restaurant in Sunnyvale. One evidence is the paper place-mat that is also doubled as lunch menu. It is identical to those used in Saigon, except the restaurant name. Apparently, the menu is not copyrighted. :-) The dimsum was quite good and the price is low compared to other dimsum restaurants. Unlike many other restaurants which charge most dim sum dishes as medium dishes, many of the dishes here are listed as «small» dishes. At the end, the bill comes much lower than other places. Have not tried their dinner yet.

On Saturday, my family and I went to HK Villa for the first and only time. We waited for our food for half an hour and we walked out of the restaurant with no dinner. We were hungry and pissed off. We were told that there were only 2 chefs cooking and several other chefs quit because the owners didn’t have money to pay the workers. Pretty sad. dont you think? POS Chinese Restaurant!

We tried this new restaurant today and when we got there, there was a huge crowd waiting to be seated. We waited for 10 minutes and got seated. There wasn’t that many dim sum carts being pushed around and there wasn’t much variety. Since dim sum seldom fills up the guys, we also ordered chow fun and it had absolutely no flavor. Eeeks! The shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings were good. But two things out of everything is not that great. My mom also ordered the fish cake soup and it was tiny! Felt like a kid’s bowl. Probably wouldn’t come here again.

This place is decently priced, and I really enjoy their lao sa bao(dripping sand bun). The porridges vary and I had a hard time picking out which one to order.(which is a good thing) My father and I come here every two weeks for a brunch.

Quality Chinese food. The hefty prices are well worth it. I would not recommend coming here if you want a 3 dish for $ 18 kind of deal. Everything is a la carte. We ordered the following: — Lamb Clay Pot– The best dish of the night! The clay pot was huge, and the waiter had to put it on a small heating stove. It was fun to put the lettuce in the boiling lamb broth. In addition, the lamb was flavorful and tender. Yumm! — Chef Special of Beef Ribs– Korean bbq ribs with a house sauce(a teriyaki base). I was disappointed with this dish because the beef ribs were chewy. — Pan fried Tofu with mushrooms and bok choy– The tofu is so smooth, and the batter gives the tofu something special. Another good dish. This place gets busy on a Friday night, so come early if you want more attention.

The food was decent, the server/bus-people was good but after that it goes downhill. Hostesses/Boss Lady– sucks big time… Let me set-up the situation: A party of three arrive towards the later part of the dim sum hour, okay — I know selection might be as great– I accept that. We order tripe, two rice noodles rolls(char-su & beef) & shrimp with vegetable dumpling because nothing else looks good on the carts. Rice rolls & dumplings were nice size & tasty & tripe was tender. Still hungry, we order a House Chow Mein/Hong Kong Style — pretty basic item, nothing fancy. Blue shirt guy take my order & we eagerly await for it. Meanwhile, carts of the same stuff keep floating by like I am going to change my mind since two minutes ago when you pushed on by the first time, lady but you get an «A» for effort. After a while, we see a few additional tables are filled with people & they are given a blue sheet of paper(made to order). Okay — I understand restaurant wants to avoid wasting food and make a profit by making only what the customers wants. About 15 minutes has elapsed, no Chow Mein, I flagged the nearest person, Hostesses #1, told that my Chow Mein hasn’t come out yet. She takes my bill to the counter to be totaled — — what? I didn’t give any hand signal that I wanted the bill to be totaled. Hostesses #1(H#1) wasn’t listening & assume too much. Okay, I’m thinking honest mistake –chalk it up to rookie error(H#1). So, when the totaled bill brought by Hostesses #2(H#2), I told H#2 that we aren’t going to pay the bill until my Chow Mein comes. You would think that the H#2 would go «oh –Sh*t, no chow mein, let me get my arse back there in the kitchen & b*tch out someone to get it done right now». Now, I understand nearly everyone wants to make money, it seems to me the H#2 wanted collect my money first before providing good customer service by getting my chow mein from the wok and onto my table. Now, how many Chinese restaurant have you paid before getting your food? Mr Chau’s doesn’t count **wink ** Not in my book, sister. I pay when I get my food or a few minutes afterwards. So, we are still hungry & since the carts aren’t appealing; we option for the blue sheet(made to order items). I would think by doing this, H#2 would see that we still want to eat here & are willing to order additional items. We order 3 additional dim sum dishes. We wait & wait some more(about another 15 min elapsed). My wife is pissed since the chow mein was top priority and nothing was coming out of the kitchen that was headed to our table. So unhappily, we head to the counter to pay for what we order & ate. The«Boss Lady» comes over & tried to explain that since you order the 3 additional items, that is the reason why it is taking so long. I politely told that my fricking chow mein was ordered about 30 minutes ago and that is the reason why we are leaving. If you kick someone’s arse in the kitchen about the Chow Mein then waiting for the 3 additional dishes would be acceptable in my book since I ordered those later. The«Boss Lady» said nothing then hurried off to cancel the rest of my order. E-Nuff said.

I tried out HK Villa for dim sum lunch on a Saturday morning, arrived at about 11:50 am and snagged the last 4-person table. I noticed that a wait started soon after we sat down for small to medium sized tables(they have several large 10 people plus tables that did not get filled). The tables are kind of small to sit comfortably, but I understand that they need to pack the tables in for them to be cost effective. Prices for their dim sum dishes are reasonable(but not cheap): small dishes are $ 2.10 each, medium are $ 2.70 and large dishes are $ 3.50. Most of the dishes that we had fell in the medium categories. Rice rolls were considered large dishes. Quality-wise, the dim sum dishes were just so-so. Cart ladies were extremely pushy and hard-selling their dishes. Their porridge selection is impressive(over 20 different kinds which you can order during dim sum off the menu). The preserved egg and pork porridge($ 5.25) that I tried was excellent. Bottom Line: I wouldn’t mind going back for the porridge, but I’ll go easy on the dim sum dishes.

Excellent food, cheap price, but don’t expect much in service. This restaurant was the old Fu Lum Moon and boy has it turned around from the old frozen cheap dim sum that used to be here. I usually eat at ABC in Milpitas, however the quality of HK Villa is excellent since it’s a smaller restaurant. This is now my new favorite dim sum restaurant in the area. Everything I had was excellent. As with any Chinese restaurant don’t expect a nice bus boy to refill your tea, but expect good food and good prices! Update 1÷29÷2007 Increased to 5 Stars Someone must have read my Unilocal update! They have improved service 10 fold! I’ve been back every weekend for the last 3 weeks and my tea was constantly refilled, water refilled and last week I even had my plate replaced. The service is excellent now! Great work HK Villa!

Dim Sum Review Came here for Dim Sum last weekend. Since we got there early(10:30am), I’m not sure how long the wait can get during prime time. Overall, I’d say it was okay… nothing spectacular. I wouldn’t say it’s better than Mayflower or ABC(the closest dim sum places that I know of), but I wouldn’t say it’s exceptionally worse. The parking situation can get pretty bad here, though the McCarthy Ranch 99 probably isn’t much better. Came with family friends, so no idea the costs. Until I try this place again… this is about all I can give you.
