I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years now. Love their food especially special clay pot, roasted quails, New York steak with tomato rice. Now, I’m hungry again. YUMMMMM

Have been coming here for years and I must say, it just keeps getting better! I pretty much always get one of two things, the catfish claypot with broken rice or #24(kind of like phở ga — aka chicken phở). Catfish is so flavorful and tender, doesn’t taste at all like catfish(which is good if you’re not a big fan, like me, but still want a good meaty fish dish) and the phở is super delish. It’s rare that I find a phở so delicious that i don’t add any sriracha or hoison sauce, but this one does it for me! The service is always so welcoming and friendly, since they remember my family they always ask how we’ve been and how X, Y or Z is doing, which is super thoughtful. Love this place, will keep on coming back! Don’t pass it up.

We decided to go to Vung Tau after a good workout because we were starving. When you walk into the restaurant there are many tables and booths available so whether you have a party of two or a party of 12 they certainly can accommodate you. I ordered my usual, the seafood soup number 26 and papaya salad. My papaya salad was great. The crunch was in there the fish sauce wasn’t as overpowering and they sprinkled a bit of red pepper flakes which added to the deliciousness of the shrimp and bits of pork. Needless to say, I devoured it. My friends also ordered the crab fried rice which was delicious. Nice clean crap taste without all that salt or any other additives. We also ordered The cubed steak salad which was marinated cubed chuck roast on a bed of greens. The crunch from the greens and the marinated steak was a great combination. I feel that at Vung Tau, The customer service is a lot better than any other soup or rice plate restaurant. Once you get their attention they’re very attentive and they come back to check on you but not to many times where they disturb your meal. Water glasses were always full and the staff has great customer service. So if you’re in the market for a good Vietnamese rice plate or soup with clean clear broth, this is the place! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

We did family-style lunch. Overpriced and unprofessional service. The banh khot appetizer was brought out one plate T a time, when we had a party of 10. Good restaurants know how to bring enough food for everyone at the table to enjoy at once. Half of the table had to awkwardly watch the other half dig in first. As for food, everything was a little too salty or not cooked well. We ordered canh chua — overly sweet and fish did not taste fresh. Tamarind prawns, very huge seafood itself, but overpriced plates for their portions at $ 28 each. Onion-wrapped beef had raw onion inside when it should have been cooked til sweet and tender. Tip: If you want to try eating here, go for the com tam bi! The bi, shredded pork and skin, is its specialty in my opinion.

The food is good. The eggroll is good, but a little pricey. The place is very casual, nothing fancy. There’s no table cloth or anything like that.

The fried riced… oh man. It was like the rice was left out for a day then used. No good. Same with the spring rolls… it was premade. The only thing we got that was worth getting was maybe the cripsy butter frog legs but then even that, it’s just better to make it at home.

My uncle works here but I never see him. It’s a fancy Vietnamese restaurant that I used to always dine at with my large Chinese and Vietnamese family. Blood or not. We family. Hash tag family! Everything on their menu can range from simple or exotic, you name it! I recommend anything because it’s based on your taste buds and preference. What you are feeling or craving is on YOU. Don’t let anyone choose for you unless you are whipped! Jk! Sometimes you need someone else to decide for you.

In the past two years I have frequented Vung Tau in Milpitas on a semi-regular basis and this has become a solid establishment to get my Vietnamese food fill in this area. It’s a spacious restaurant and on any given Sunday night there will be multiple families sharing their Sunday supper together. My regular dishes are the Hu Tieu and Banh Khot, both of which are above average in flavor and consistency. Service is average but for me, the food is well worth the trip, and after so many years Vung Tau is still standing the test of time.

Been here many times in the past. Food is great and service is good. But since the last time I’ve been there, the prices have gone up a huge percentage. I understand that things go up, but to me it seems the percentage increase is much higher than other restaurants over the years. At least increase the portions, to cover the increased pricing. Won’t be returning. too bad, since the food is good… but ROI on this place(for me as a consumer) is too low :(

I grew up going to this restaurant but now I feel like I never want to go back. They have forgotten my order twice on my latest visits and this time, they forgot my order and gave me the wrong order. When I finally got my order, they forgot the side of my sunny side egg and I found hair in my salad. No word of apology and no accommodation for their mistake. I’ll take my business elsewhere; you have just lost a loyal customer of 22 years. Bye Felicia!

My all time favorite for hu tieu! I love the shrimp cracker that comes with the soap. I usually get it with soap. The dry noodles is also good, soup comes on the side. Service here is lacking, that’s why I’m not giving 5 stars. I hate getting the short asian guy. He’s rude and if u ask him for something he ignores you and doesn’t bring it. You have to ask the other guys. He should get more training. The rest of the staff are decent. I’ve noticed it’s not as busy as before! A few years back there used to be waits and a full house. Their prices definitely raised and portion sizes are smaller.

The sweet and sour catfish soup is on point!!! All the time. Literally every single time I come here the catfish is so fresh and soft. Soup is delicious and ingredients complement the soup really well. I can finish the whole bowl myself. Some other good stuff are the shrimp with sugar cane in the middle and papaya salad. Flavorful and refreshing. Also grilled pork with vermicelli is a nice pick. I also really appreciate that they have fresh young coconut here. I always get it because other places usually have canned coconut water.

Vung Tau is where we go when we want to play it safe. It’s close to home, fast and convenient. Food: I’ve tried a variation of dishes, my go-to dishes are Bun Ga Nuong and Bun Bo Hue. The Bun is good, not the best in flavor, but what I like best is their portion of meat. They give me a big chunk of chicken, the downside is this chunk isn’t chopped or cut. I have a hard time with this because their bowls are extremely tiny. Bun should be served in a larger bowl for easy mixing. Overall, the bun is okay. BBH is good, I usually get a ton of meat in my bowl, but it’s not spicy at all. Be prepared to add some condiments if you like it spicy. The spring rolls are fresh and also large in size. Ambiance: Large, spacious, busy during lunch hours and weekend dinners, but service is fast and consistent. Parking Lot: I hate the plaza this place is located in, usually have to park far. Be careful with some of the people parking here, not the best of drivers from personal experience. Price: Average for viet restaurant. Service: Great, friendly and attentive waiters that are constantly filling my drink without me having to ask. Overall: The food here is okay, I mostly go here because I’ve never had a problem with the food or the service and I’ve been coming here for years. I don’t think they really have one particular dish that they specialize in, but rather a large variety of different dishes.

Delicious food for a good value. Came here at 7 pm on a Saturday night with friends for dinner. There were 3 people ahead of us so we had to wait about 10 – 15 minutes. Not too bad. Service: Excellent. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff was always so helpful. My friend got her water filled, without aksing, more than 5 times. Impressive. Food: On point, but beware: portions are smaller. We ordered 4 dishes for 3 people and had some left to take home. — Banh khot for appetizer. Hot, fresh, crispy and delicious. Love how the coconut center is smooth nd custard-like. They gave us 7 shrimp cakes here(the downtown location gives only 6) — Lotus root salad: fresh, crunchy and healthy. Comes with pork and shrimp. I like how the nuoc mam(fish sauce) comes on the side. Sometimes restaurants drench salads in dressing. — Tamarind prawns: very tasty. Big and succulent prawns grilled to perfection with tangy tamarind sauce. — Banh hoi chao tom. Vermicelli noodle cakes with shrimp paste on sugar cane. One if my favorite dishes. Tasty meat, flavorful sugar cane and banh hoi was made perfectly. Al dente yet still chewy and soft. Credit cards: extra star because they accept Am Ex and even split the tab 3 way for my 2 friends and I. I’ve gone to Vung Tau 2 several times and will keep going. Service was excellent and food is delicious.

I had the grilled onion beef rice plate, which was like beef strips wrapped around onions and then grilled and tied together with some edible grassy string. I loved this so much !! It was great and delicious and had a good presentation. I also ordered a side of eggrolls which were crispy and delicious and tasty and not fishy flavored. Very impressed!!! This is also like my first time in a viet restaurant that’s not phở or banh mi.. must find more! The short ribs were really tender and tasty also !! There was only like 1 piece with bones, so it wasn’t hard to cut up either. But the rib eye dish did not come with any vegetables so make sure to eat a salad or something. Service was like typical Asian service. Really enjoyed the food!

Good food. I like several dishes served at this restaurant. My first favorite is the Goi Vit(= cabbage salad with duck meat). Ingredients are fresh. The cut of duck bone-in meat is thicker than typical, so I can taste it. The meat is cooked right. The dressing is flavorful. So is the ginger based dipping sauce. At some other restaurants, the dipping sauce is too watery or has too much ginger. My only minor issue about the Goi Vit at Vũng Tàu is that the cabbage is not well mixed. I have to mix at the table. The serving plate is flat, so I end up with dressing on the table. I wish the staff would mix the salad just before serving. Good, polite & prompt service(but don’t expect any smile). A few staff members are loud. Especially when there is a sport game on TV. And when they joke with one another. While I am for a fun work place, the noise can be distracting. In spite of the excitement, the service staff does not neglect their duties. In spite of these minor«issues», I’ll be back whenever I’m in the area.

I have walked by this restaurant countless times and never thought much about it. It was not until one of my best friends who suggested we come here for dinner one night. I never really had Vietnamese food other than the usual phở and noodle soups, so why not! It was pretty empty when we came here on a Saturday at around 6pm. We were greeted and seated immediately. We looked through the menu for a while to decide what we wanted to eat. We ended ordering for family style and got the Catfish clay pot, Sautéed beef with ong choy, and Sautéed pork ribs along with white rice. We ordered some simple dishes since we weren’t too sure of what to order, but they all turned out to be very tasty! However, the portion was a lot smaller than I had thought. In the catfish clay pot, there were literally just three pieces of catfish in there. It was kind of saddening to see. I thought they might have included some veggies or tofu like the Chinese styled clay pots. But the fish and the sauce were amazing though! I could seriously eat the sauce just with plain white rice. The beef with ong choy was also good. I really liked the ong choy. It was very crunchy. Although it was simple, it was cooked very well! The pork ribs were also really delicious. They added some peppers over the pork ribs, which made it even more tasty! I definitely recommend these dishes. Although the portion was a bit small and that it’s slightly pricier, I thought it was worth it. Everything was very tasty. And to our surprise, we didn’t finish everything and we only got three dishes for three people! Overall, I would come back again and try out their other dishes!

I’ve eaten here several times over the years and have never had a bad meal. This place is definitely one of the best Vietnamese restaurant you’ll find in Milpitas area. This place is authentic and easy on the pocket! Plus parking was quite easy too. The food is very tasty and high quality as well. The servers are fast and efficient, decent portion sizes and the food came out relatively quick. To be honest, everything on the menu is good. Definitely a good place to go if you are feeling traditional Vietnamese food and not just Phở.

Can’t really give them too many stars based on one dish. Had the lemongrass ribs. And they were pretty legit. Didn’t want to eat too much, as we wanted to get bambu next door after dinner. The food came out a little slow, and the restaurant wasn’t packed. I’ll come back to try more dishes. The ribs are good enough that I would come back for just those!
