Boston Store(and the whole Bön-Ton line of companies for that matter) offer appealing products and many different brand choices. However, I’ve found shopping at this particular location to usually be less than pleasant. It’s almost always dirty and clothes are thrown all over the aisles. It can be very difficult to find a salesperson here and even when you do, they don’t seem very eager to help. This past weekend I was shopping and had my arms full of clothes. After asking two different staff members for a fitting room I received one(after getting an eye roll) and waiting about ten minutes for the staff to ring up customers. The fitting room actually had merchandise sitting all over it and it was apparent that no staff member had actually looked in the room in quite some time. For a store that markets itself as being upscale, its performance doesn’t seem to add up. When I finally did decide on my items, I was helped by an extremely friendly clerk(kudos to you, Dorothy C). Unfortunately, 2 of my 4 items didn’t ring up correctly, and if I hadn’t noticed I would have been overcharged by about $ 35 altogether. Dorothy was more than friendly about it and took care of everything promptly. Will I continue to shop at Bön-Ton branded stores? Yes, because they carry many of the brands I like to purchase. However, I think this particular location could try a lot harder at being the upscale Boston Store that it dubs itself to be.

Do they ever not have a sale? I mean sales are good but how about reducing pricing instead of copying Kohl’s Department Store. I did get some really good deals when I stopped here recently to use up a gift card, however, so I can’t complain too much. But, I’m kinda sad how downhill Boston Store seems to have gone. The store seems to have a big section of mature clothes that are hideous, some major recognized name brands that are overpriced and then a smaller section of hipper clothes that anyone would ever wear. Appealing to everyone at once isn’t easy, I suppose. It just used to seem so much classier. And, I shop there so much less than when I was younger. Struggling between a 2 or 3 star rating. But, since my last experience was decent I’ll go ahead with the 3.

I thought it would be a treat to shop at the Mayfair store today, since I am from Appleton. Was I wrong! The store is an absolute mess… and I don’t mean b/c of construction. Clothes are on the floor, nothing is sized correctly, clothing is without tags, etc. Do you just blow that off b/c of the sale? I don’t think I’ll be back. After walking around the entire store, on both floors, I went to check out and I mistakenly took a pair of jeans without a tag; the other pair had the tag. I had waited in line for 15 minutes when the clerk said, «You’ll have to find another pair of these jeans if I am to finish checking you out.» What happened to that as part of the salesperson’s job description? I could hardly remember where I found those in the mess. Btw, if everything in the store is on sale, nothing is on sale. Why not get rid of your coupons and just mark the stuff what it should be priced?!

In general, I like the Boston Store chain — they don’t have«flashy» brands but most of the stock is good quality at decent prices. However, the Mayfair location is a complete pit — surprising, considering it’s in an «upscale» mall. Mens clothing was understocked and most of the nicer clothing was gone, in favor of «tool wear»(i.e. Bedazzeled tshirts and lame denim). Most of the apparel portions of the store were cluttered up with racks + racks of clearance clothing, so much so that the place resembled a thrift store. I didn’t come to Boston Store to dig through racks of out of season discards — I came for a dressy shirt for the Mister, and it wasn’t to be found. On the plus side, this location has a large display of Justin Bieber perfume and Coach bags if that’s your thing. Do yourself a favor and head to the Brookfield Square Boston Store. The stock is better, the store is bigger and cleaner and the staff is far better.

Usually when I come to this store, I am bombarded with sales people trying to sell me all sorts of things that I don’t need… perfume, fancy face lifting cream that I don’t need, semi precious jewels, you get my drift. Well, today was a different story, I actually needed something. I went to the perfume counter trying to get the attention of a sales associate and there wasn’t one available so I went to another department to track one down. No sales associate ended up coming to the counter after waiting 15 minutes. An associate finally ended up making her way to the perfume counter and I politely tried to get her attention, to which I followed her around the counter 3 times and she didn’t stop. Needless to say it was a waste of time and I’ll go spend my money else where. Frustrating!

SHOPPINGFOR: A new bedding set FOUND: A display model with the following quilt and shams: PROBLEM: The display model was exactly what I wanted down to the fitted sheets and pillowcases. This store was out of stock of the pinstripes sheets that made the display model work design wise. An associate who was«helping» us refused to swap the display model sheets with another set so we could purchase them. She was«too busy» with signs she had to get done.(Too busy for a $ 200 sale?) The associate looked in the computer system to see if the Brookfield Boston Store had the pinstriped sheets in stock. She said the had ten in stock. After driving to Brookfield and finding out the store did NOT have the sheets in stock I was frustrated. A Brookfield associate said they are supposed to CALL before sending a customer across town because the computer system isn’t always accurate. Natch! SUMMARY: I found the sheet set I needed at Kmart and made the quilt purchase from the Brookfield Boston Store.
