Their subs are awesome, but their delivery is an a absolute joke. It takes 40 minutes at minimum to deliver a single freaking sandwich!!! Absolutely ridiculous. This is why I order Jimmy John’s

The best thing about this place is bread. So good. However, their sandwiches are not toasted and the tomatoes are so not fresh. I once ordered a barbecue sauce sandwich(forgot the name) but it was covered in bbq sauce excessively.

I’m more of Jimmy Johns fan myself, but if you like the E&G product there are two locations on campus and both of them are fine. The other location is in Coffman Union and has more limited hours.

I’ve gotten the Geeter(seafood and bacon) probably two dozen times now. It’s the only thing I ever order! But I just love it so much that I don’t want to try anything else. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because I go to Erb and Gerb’s just as much as Jimmy John’s and Which Wich, and I like them all pretty much equally. Also, the downtown location in Lasalle is super duper cramped. The staff is very friendly though!

It’s hard to say anything too original about a chain but I’ve always had a good experience here. I work nearby and I’m motivated to post largely because every employee I’ve encountered here has been SO friendly! I usually get a cup of the Minnesota wild rice & chicken soup — hard to beat — but I’ve been pleased with the sandwiches I’ve tried, too, usually the Narmer. And the deals on day old bread are great — something like $ 1.75 for an entire baguette! The delivery is quick, too, though I usually just walk since I feel bad getting someone out here just to deliver a cup of soup.

I love love love the food at Erbs and Gerbs but yesterday I ordered a sandwich, chips and a pop for lunch. When the food came, I tipped the delivery boy, but I didn’t look in my food bag for another 30 minutes or so because I was finishing up some work. When I started to eat I realized they only gave me my sandwich and forgot to include the chips and drink! I checked the receipt and saw I was still charged for the extras. When I called to ask if they could bring my extra food back, they said I should have called a half hour after delivery at the latest to get the food??? Disappointed in this service Erbs and Gerbs.

A good choice for either breakfast or lunch. A variety of soups and subs to select from. The location plays a huge role; it’s a few steps away from the campus and in the popular Dinkytown area. The staff is smiley and patient. I think that is pretty much it! Enjoy: D

What a find! The bread is worth the price of admission alone. Today when I was over at the U of M, I popped in for lunch. I ordered had the chicken noodle soup and the Tullius, which is the roast beef.(I just love the names of their sandwiches!) But that’s what makes it fun. There are stories on the walls to help explain the flavors. If you go to this location, be sure to get in Tim’s line. He’ll hook you up!(Must be the name)

I’ve never had a sub, but their soups are FAB. Over this looooong and freezing winter, I was living in Dinkytown, and I had a wisdom tooth out. Nothing but soup and smoothies for a week for this gal! Erbert & Gerberts was close, open late, and served delicious soups. This place seriously saved me from dying of hunger and food boredom while I recovered. I still stop by every so often for a bowl of chicken dumpling soup and a day old wheat bread. So good!

Love the guts! The narmer is bad ass. Aside from a small family run deli, this has to be the best place to get sammiches in the TC. I love me some Erbs & Gerbs. I wish they had more locations but alas I am sitting here today Narmer-less in the dirty dirty… aka Coon Rapids. JJ(Jimmy John’s) is as good as it gets. And though they serve a similar product JJ is inferior. Is it just me or is their bread always a tad undercooked? Anyways, Erbs & Gerbs is some delish fresh fast sammiches. I love the narmer. I have a weakness for avocado and sprouts. Plus they give you the guts from the bread which is amazing dipped in some of their tasty soups. What are guts you may ask? Well you know how when you get a sub from Subway the intestines(the goodies if you will) start to slip out? this does not seem to happen here. They tear out some of the middle part of the sub bread to make a cozy little home for the goodies in the sub to lie in creating a no slippage situation. Love it. Then they take the soft innards of the bread and stick them in the wrapping of your sandwich for you to snack on. Gots to love it. Though I think their meats could be a little less supermarket deli-like they make tasty sandwiches. The turkey to me seems to be a little processed and not fresh cured like in a smaller deli. Thus the 4⁄5 star rating. But that’s just me being nit picky. I still love em! And the day old bread for a buck with some soup? Awesome. I kind of dig how this location is all college kids. They play better music when you walk in even though the service is lacking a smile and a sense of urgency.

One of the best things about E&G’s is that they have the pudder. That’s right, peanut butter and jelly. Why oh why don’t other sandwich shops understand the power of a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Oh, probably because their bread sucks. E&G has great bread that can stand the PB&J test. Love their Bony Billy, too. mmmm. sprouts.

I absolutely love Erb’s & Gerb’s. Probably one of my favorite sub joints in the Cities. Why the one star rating you ask? Well… I called them this evening since my taco crawl coma had passed and I wanted a sub delivered. I’ve been in their«delivery range» the last 10 or so times I’ve ordered from them. Unfortunately, the piss ant that answered the phone said to me after stammering about delivering range and me telling him I’ve been delivered to in the past, «uhhhh, we’re kinda busy tonight and you’re out of our delivery range. « Suck my ass Erbert’s and Gerbert’s.

Yes, I am a fan of Erbert & Gerberts, it’s true that they don’t have the huge selection of toppings like Subway, but that’s a good thing for me. This way you can’t overload your sub with tons of crap you don’t really need anyways! I always do that at Subway. This place is a good example of the«Less is More» phrase. Here, I just order my sandwich as it comes on the menu and it’s always perfect. Plus you can fit it in your mouth with without getting lock jaw which is nice! No pun intended.

This girl used to live on their soup and $ 1 day old bread. This is no gourmet food. This is a college sub shop. Its sub part, but it does the job. Its better the subway and Jimmy Johns. Its not a homemade sandwich made with love by your great grandmother Prudy, but its food. The staff is college students, so its just like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get. They also deliver on campus, but if you need it delivered you need your head checked out, as its a short walk… go walk or you will just get really fat. Its a little overpriced, considering what you get, but they are on campus and there are too many hungry spoiled rich kids who can afford this. The sandwiches are named after gods. I usually got the roast beef with no cheese or one of the soups. Solid place to satisfy your hunger.

Eh, this sub experience didn’t rock my world. Better than Subway(but I prefer subways ‘topping’ selections) but not as good as either Jimmy Johns and Milios. I also found their menu somewhat limited and I think 70 cents is a lot to charge for banana peppers. The chicken chili was decent… didn’t kick ass like the counter dude implied, as neither did the panut butter rice crsipy bar. But gotta hand it to him he was a persistent mofo in the sales game and he won. Won’t search this place out, but if im hungry it will do.

Chances are, If I’m eating a sub for lunch, my standards aren’t that high. Doubly so if I am ordering a sub to be delivered to me on campus. It means I’m lazy, and I need sustenance. I generally prefer Jimmy Johns, but I couldn’t even give you much of a reason why. I’m trying to tell you, I didn’t have very high standards. Today, I decided to order Erbert & Gerberts instead of Jimmy, if not for nostalgia, because I already had the menu in hand(as opposed to the 15 seconds it would take for me to pull up JJ on the internet). The delivery was faster than expected, the sub was about as expected(if not a little less). So why the negative review? My total was $ 7 and change. I pulled out a $ 10, launched into that complicated cognitive procedure of determining how much I wanted to tip and therefore how much change I wanted back. I’m not saying it’s the most complicated procedure in the world, but one that gives me pause. But not my delivery man. He snatches the $ 10 from my hand, says thanks, and walks off. Never even asks IF I want change. Which leads to the complicated cognitive procedure of «do I want to raise my voice, and chase him down the hallway to get back $ 1?». Naturally, my desire to do this is inversely proportional to the rapidly growing distance between us. By even considering the question, I have already answered«no.» Way to go, dude. Help yourself to a 40% tip. Consider it my «goodbye present».

OMG I love Erbert and Gerberts! Their subs are so good! OK so they are not quite as delicious as my old fave — Jimmy John’s — but they are pretty dang good. Bonus for all the cute names and backstories for something as mundane as a sub. Staff is mostly students, and very nice.

Pretty normal Italian type sandwiches, with one very notable twist. They deliver on campus! Sweet! You can order them to your work, office, or study lair and not have to blow half an hour walking around campus to feed yourself! win!

WOW! I fell in love with this place while in college. During one summer, I was probably there almost every other day. All of the sandwiches are made while you’re in line, using the freshest ingredients. The people working there are usually pretty great too, during the aforementioned summer, they didn’t even need to take my order, they just asked if I wanted the«regular». I highly recommend the Boney Billy with a little extra mayo. And that little piece of bread that they tear out? So soft and fresh and GOOD! I’d eat here any day over Jimmy John’s.
