Why — oh lord why — did they take the Walleye Sandwich off the menu? It would have been five stars otherwise. Mac’s has been a great destination for years — and even with the influx of breaded hipster PBR drinkers that overtook Northeast a few years ago — it didn’t seem to harm Mac’s that much which is breath of fresh air, literally. The waitresses are great and flirty and Jimmy the owner knows what he’s doing. Some of the best bar food in the city and where else can you hear New Edition, Nirvana, Rick Ross and Bjork all within ten minutes from the Jukebox. Best place to go in Northeast for a lazy local hang and food.

Had heard great things about this place but had a mixed experience We were served a water that was visibly yellow(the server noticed after awhile and replaced it) and there were multiple times our server came back telling us they were out of what we ordered. We ended up just ordering the reuben and splitting it as it seemed like a safe bet. The reuben was great but overall the experience disappointing.

I eat wings all over the country and the blackened buffalo wings at Mac’s are simply the best anywhere. Just the right size, dryness(yes dry n crispy like wings should be) and served with house made blue cheese(if a wing is served with ranch you know you are in Minnesota) I generally get mine with a side of buffalo sauce but most of my friends eat them the way they come. The staff is really down to earth and chill, the kitchen is open til 2 and the crowd is generally laid back. Not fancy in any way but every person I have taken there repeatedly comes back. Awesome place.

VERY pleasant experience for me! Grub hub has quickly become my best friend during my time working in Downtown Minneapolis and I’m sure it will continue to be that. That aside, Grub Hub has nothing to do with review. Ordered online, decided to go with the Black and Blue burger, which was a ½ pound patty blackened patty, bacon, blue cheese, lettuce and pickles(not a fan of raw onions or tomatoes). First bite was absolutely splendid, and each subsequent bite followed suit! Burger was so very juicy, and seasoned to meaty perfection! The pickle slices on the burger were very thick, which wound up making the burger a wee bit too tall, but then I thought to myself, «Is there a such thing as a burger that’s too tall?» My answer was no, so I dove right in. The burger also comes with a side, and there are a lot to choose from. After some careful consideration, I went with the Chili. Very hearty Chili. Chunky, meaty, beany(yeah, I made up a word, do something about it.) really just everything you look for in… Chili. Forgot we were talking about Chili. Anyways, also got an order of fried cheese, which put a bit of a spin on mozzarella sticks by frying pepper jack cheese instead. Turned out pretty good, I’ve had better though. All in all, great place for a burger, so I can’t wait to have another. Get down here ASAP!

Delicious grub with a huge beer and wine selection. Loved seeing the grand marnier bottles that they have lined up above the windows. Ask your server why they are there… The tatie tots are to die for!

A great place to get a simple bite to eat. Their BLT is hands down the best in town. The amount of thick crispy bacon is unmatched to any other restaurant.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Mac’s yet! Mac’s Industrial is mine and my siggy other’s token payday lunch date, which happens to be today, YAY! T-Minus 1 hour until I get to go! Yes, it’s a «Sport’s Bar» but honestly it doesn’t feel like one in the douche-y sense. Neither I nor my boyfriend like sports and we have a grand old time here. Everything I have tried from Mac’s is delicious — I wouldn’t say it’s typical bar food because the flavors are on point — sure, a lot of it is greasy goodness but they know what they’re doing. The beer list is great and they don’t mind tossing out samples if you’re not sure if you’re gonna like that hefeweizen. My favorite and absolute go-to meal is their Grilled Cheese + Ham with a fried egg and a side of french fries. Their french fries are amazing! You can get them different«styles» but if you just get them regular they still come with this really tasty seasoning on them and I can’t get enough. That paired with the sandwich with the egg yolk oozing all over the fries is enough to send me into a heavenly coma of awesomeness. You can’t go wrong. My 2nd go-to when I feel like I need to try and be «healthier» let’s be honest, it’s just«less fatty» is their Crispy Chicken Salad. Yes, you MUST get the chicken crispy which negates the whole idea of a salad but whatever, eff you. Don’t judge my salad! It’s got everything you want in it: spring greens, cheese, bacon, tomatoes, dried cranberries, onion, and a perfect honey mustard dressing. My one recommendation: Add sliced avocado. Dear god, ADDAVOCADO! It bring this from a 10 to an 11. My other half is hooked on their BLAT(BLT-Avocado) and fries and while it sounds good I just can’t break away from the chains that are my grilled cheese+ham+egg or my salad. So yeah, BLAST is supposedly really good too! Before he locked in the BLAT as his fav he would always get the Mini Mac burgers, I think they had a special sauce on it that was pretty good. Anyway, point is: You should go. andyoushouldgethegrilledcheesehamdandeggwithfriesbecauseitsthebest.

Amazing Reuben. Bomb Mac and cheese. Great salads. Long craft beer selection. A Go to for late night food. Nothing bad on this very long menu. Some nights pick up order may be a better selection. It can get crowded and understaffed. Order more beer before it’s gone. But the staff that are there are great!

Mac’s is such a special spot! It’s a casual bar restaurant but better. It’s got all the basics, but they’re killing it in every category. Their draught list is pretty extensive. They have a healthy variety of different styles of beer. As an IPA hater in Minneapolis, it’s hard for me to find a good selection on tap. And then there’s the FOOD. You can get any«burger» with a beef patty, grilled chicken, breaded chicken, or black bean patty. The breaded chicken is the best comfort food. Most entrée orders come with a side, and this is where Mac’s really earns its stars. The mac n cheese is SO good, and it comes with no additional cost. If I’m ever having issues picking a place for dinner, Mac’s is my go to. Mac’s gives me what I want.

Tried Macs on a Thursday night that happened to be St Patrick’s day so it was really busy. I came here to watch a specific game and it was hard to get a good spot but the servers were really nice and did their best to accommodate us. I will give it another try but if you have something specific you want to see I would recommend coming early or on a off night. Food was typical bar food but better than most in my opinion! My mac n cheese was so cheesy it was more like a soup! Really tasty! Wouldn’t recommend if you’re counting calories ;) Overall service, food and ambiance were typical sports bar but definitely a fun place.

Only two things to know… 1) The Reuben sandwich will bring you to your knees. I had the one at(the) deli in St. Paul which was ok. But it was more about an experience than the food. The Reuben at Mac’s will change your life. Seriously…It will. It’s the best I’ve ever had. 2) The French onion soup is amazing! It stands alone in a town full of half-hearted attempts. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll need to have it at least weekly. I don’t know how one restaurant can have my two favorite things in the world at such extreme quality of form and flavor. I’m there once a week. Say hi.

Despite the name, never ever come here to actually watch sports. I was just there when in the last quarter of the(very close) cfp national championship game, the bar suddenly cut the broadcast due to a work party’s arrival. The food was«fine» but there are many places within a few block radius with food that’s better than fine. Disappointed with their nonsense — you can do better people of Unilocal

Friday night dinner club. Was here many years ago for lunch, don’t know if it had different owners or menus, but place seemed familiar. Waitress made great suggestions on her fave five items. We all ordered something different. Reuben was good, but not as good as Crossroads. Cubanlike sandwich was tasty as well as the grinder. Smothered french dip was very good. Best part was the corn fritters, very good. Only problem we had was the bills were mixed up. Wanted to add a little update. Two of our diners ended up extremely sick by Sunday, this is only place both had been. Don’t know if was food or beverage related. Both split their sandwiches and shared and both had one tap beer.

First time at Mac’s. Free parking after 3:00 pm in parking lot to the East off 2nd. Monday night happy hour from 3:00 pm to close was great. Service at the bar was excellent. Reuben was the best I have had in the TC. Great tap beer selection(Squatters«Bumper Crop» from SLC, UT was awesome!) Strong rail cocktails. Definitely added to my favorites list.

We primarily order Mac’s through Bite Squad, but we’ve been to the restaurant a few times as well. The quality of the food is exactly the same regardless of the venue. The blackened buffalo chicken wings are among the best in the Twin Cities and the Cajun tuna melt and three pig sandwich are awesome twists on classic sandwiches. I love this place!

To start on a positive note, Mac’s has truly decent bar food and I have never had a problem with a to-go order on a week night, something I do occasionally when I have meetings on the upper floors of the building. The beer selection is good too. It’s weekend service where we run into trouble. I’ve experienced it a couple times for Sat. lunches with small groups, definitely not a time I want to be drinking alcohol for an extended period while waiting. On a Fri. night you might expect a group to want to linger over their drinks before eating, but I think an hour long wait is unreasonable for relatively simple food items. I came close to asking to cancel my order and head for some dreadful drive-through. Perhaps more cooks and wait staff need to scheduled for weekends.

Great food, less than stellar service. Have dined here more than a few times and the food is always good. Can’t give 5 stars on food alone as service makes up the other half of the dining experience. In the time that I ordered a beer the server returned with said beer and menus I was able to review the menu for 10 minutes, decide what I want, change my mind, download the Unilocal app, create a login, type this review, go to the bathroom, wash my hands of course, and finish the beer before the server returned to take my food order.(About 35 minutes) I will still come back… when Ray Js doesn’t have any place to sit. I hope the food is good this time as I obviously haven’t received it yet. I have faith it will be hot upon arrival, unless it also takes 30 minutes to get it from the grill to my table. Recommendation: hire another server or two.

I love this place. They are constantly rotating in new beers so there’s always something good to drink. The food isn’t anything new, but it’s American bar food done well. I highly suggest the pulled pork sandwich. Service is always quick and kind.

Mac’s was OK and would be a good place to stop in for some snacks and a brew. But I did feel a little like it was overpriced for what we got. I think that maybe we just erred in not coming for happy hour. We were impressed with the beer list — much better than most hole in the wall type bars and a good emphasis on craft. Beers were nice and cold. Bonus points for the little hooks under the counter at the bar for purses. Foodwise, we really liked the mini corn dog appetizer. That was probably the winner of the night for me. The dogs were good quality beef franks. The coating was flavorful and stuck to the dogs correctly, frying up to gold delicoiusness. I got the BBQ bacon cheddar burger, which was fine but not amazing. The potato salad with it was good, but again, not great. My husband got a sandwich(some kind of wrap) and the mac and cheese as a side. Mac’s menu was more diverse than most bar menus, and the food was generally executed just fine. Better than average even. But nothing exceptional and a little steep at $ 50+ for two meals, one app and two beers. On the plus side, our waitress was really great. She got a bit distracted toward the end of our meal, taking forever to bring my credit card back to the table … But I chalked that up to her being busy. other than that, service was great.

Great beer selection, lots of tvs to watch hockey match. Bar TV was really really small so wall tvs suffice. Bartenders — busy. Street parking available. Meh

Seriously, I don’t know why it took me so long to even go to Mac’s but then even longer to eat here. Mac’s has good bar food, correction, lets say GREAT bar food. After reading in CityPages about the Tuna Melt I had to try this out myself. I was so surprised at how awesome it is that I’ve taken people out to eat here. It’s really nothing to brag about for location, appearance, or beer list, but their menu is large and legit. So this Tuna Melt, so good, I mean, I’ve thought about before going to bed, or at least to an alternative for cooking for the night. It is made with Ahi Tuna salad that is to die for. On top of that, you get to choose from like 15 sides for no additional cost! Yes! Being that I don’t like fries, this is like a blessing. You can choose from healthier options like raw veggies and fruit or salad or the heartier like onion rings, mac and cheese, and chili, or you know more tuna salad on the side. All for $ 10. Some of my friends have had the burgers and agree that they are good. I could give or take Happy Hour, I like it when there are true deal as opposed to a few bucks off this beer but not that beer kind of thing. Still the people are friendly. And I wish I could shout out to this one server I had, she was amazing, but I forget her name, super laid back and totally on her game for serving the entire establishment. It can be loud and there isn’t really a place to park. There is a parking lot right next to it but I think it is for Aveda or something else? Not sure. I know it’s in the busy part of NE but I always like parking. Good thing I live close enough to walk. Overall, a good bar, some TV’s I guess can make it a sports bar. Check it out!

Came here on a Wednesday night for happy hour(3−7pm!!). The place was pretty quiet so we got seated right away. How Happy hour works is that they have 3 tiers of pricing: $ 3 for 1st tier, $ 4 for 2nd tier and $ 5 for 3rd tier. The«better» the beer/higher alcohol content/more exclusive beers are in the higher tiers. Had a decent beer menu to choose from. Food menu is very big and has plenty to choose from. I ordered the Parmigiana Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which had marinara and melted provolone on a garlic bun as well as tomatoes, onions, pickles, and lettuce for toppings. It was very good but the burger was so tall it was hard to eat. I had mac and cheese for my side and wasn’t too fond of it because I like when it is more creamy. Overall, I had an enjoyable time here but it was nothing special to write home to mom about.

This is also my «tip» but this is what it said with my 2 star rating: My mom loves the French dip here, but after graduating and looking more closely, they nickel and dime you for everything. Their deals say $ 10 – 15 pitchers, they are actually $ 12 – 16. Wings for $ 0.35, actually $ 0.40(not to mention $ 0.25 for carrots or celery). Not terrible just a bunch of cheap skates. Never used to be this way…

Well. my friends and I joined the clean plate club at Macs. I had dinner here and it was awesome. The atmosphere was not what I was expecting. Hardcore dive/sports bar is kinda now I would explain it. They even have buck hunter. My server was great, I felt like she was my friend and she understood my weird ordering pickyness. Here’s a few pointers: ORDER loons juice. It’s a honey crisp cider. Very fresh and sweet, but not too sweet like angry orchard. ORDER the Cuban(the real name is three meat something) it was amazing and I hate mustard Also, they have the best Ruben in Minneapolis. Lastly, they actually have a parking lot so you don’t have to worry about parking!

I don’t think I should have to tell you this, but my meal tells me otherwise. a soup and salad combo ABSOLUTELYCANNOTBOTHBEINTHESAMETAKEOUTCONTAINER. the salad pile just sat next to the soup and was hot when it got here. the cheese on the salad was melted. please buy some plastic containers for your salads. it was kind of shitty to just see a wad of salad in a cardboard box, too.

Mac’s Industrial’s reuben was the best reuben three years ago. Now the corned beef tastes like meat-flavored kleenex. Still, many regulars sit by the bar, day and night. And the bartenders treat everyone like the regulars.

Great sports bar! Went at 7PM on a Tuesday to a pretty crowded bar. They informed us it was wing night, which is a great situation to stumble across! We ordered a pitcher of beer and 24 wings with some dipping sauces. The beer list was great as well! The sauces were fine, but afterwards we agreeed the plain buffalo were probably the best. Overall, the situation was great and will likely be back. Overall, It’s a typical no frills sports bar with a great beer list. They’re doing it right!

The blackened buffalo wings are unreal. Try them. Some of the best wings around. The blue cheese has real blue cheese in it(rare these days). They also have the best ruben in town. Great tap selection and nearly all are $ 5. They have craft brews like darkness frequently. Nothing fancy but very enjoyable bar with great food.

Yum. Try the rings of fire with the Reuben. You won’t be disappointed. The food and drink here is excellent and very inexpensive. It’s a dive sports-bar, though, so don’t expect posh surroundings. It’s dark, old and lively. Perfect place to hang with friends before, during or after a game — or if you’re just hungry and craving their food. I’ve had exceptional service here and not so great service here — but the food and drink keeps me coming back despite that. I definitely recommend.
