We just got our sofa from Rosenthals, so I can share the complete buying experience. We came here on a weekend and had the full attention of Chris and help from Rosie and company. We got lots of help and advice. The people who work here are blunt and funny. It was a great shopping experience(we went to tons of other stores and this was definitely the most fun and had the best soft furniture selection). Rosenthals has by far the most variety in style and price of anywhere in the Twin Cities, with an emphasis on quality. We ended up ordering a sofa by Younger Furniture that I had seen online in a catalog and fallen in love with. We got our sofa 3 months later– longer than the promised 6 – 8 weeks. Like all the other reviewers said– gather your patience and don’t get rid of your old couch yet. Ordering custom, US-made furniture takes time, but is SO worth it. We didn’t pay any more than we would have from any typical furniture store with crap from China, we just had to wait a little. I DO think the store should be more honest about the wait time because this is clearly a consistent issue. Rosenthals really got 5 stars in the end from us because they went above and beyond to actually get us our sofa once it had been delivered from the factory. Their recommended delivery service gets zero stars from me for failing to even call us to schedule the delivery, but Chris made it happen by really going out of his way. The Rosenthals van showed up at our doorstep and our couch is GORGEOUS.

Rosenthal Furniture is my new happy place. It has some of the best furniture I have ever seen. I wished someone had told me about them when I moved here. Now I am «paying it forward» letting everyone else know it is the place to go to buy great quality, great looking furniture. Their designers are great to work with and they listened to what I liked and did not like. Every time I walk into my house I am so happy because of the way it looks. I guess that is why I consider it my happy place.

I went to Rosenthal Furniture expecting to not find anything I could afford and was pleasantly surprised. I found an amazing dinning room table and chairs that were just what we were looking for and were priced very reasonably. They have amazing modern furniture and it was so nice to find things that none of the box type stores(Hom and Slumberland) offer. This will definitely be my first stop for all of my future furniture and home furnishing needs.

I’ve been a customer for 25+ years. Most of my furniture was purchased from Rosie. If you don’t have contemporary taste this might not be the place to go. They have the most fabulous selection of contemporary cool furniture. Sometimes you order from a catalogue and there can be a wait. Just received a new leather sectional and it came in earlier then expected! My house looks beautiful filled with all the unique pieces I’ve bought over the years. Once in awhile something might arrive scratched etc… Rosie ALWAYS takes care of it. I trust her taste and she always steers me in the right direction. She values her long time customers and takes good care of them. I am thrilled to have access to such a great selection of contemporary décor and remain a very satisfied customer!

I’m quite surprised by the negative reviews about Rosenthal Furniture. We have been purchasing furniture from Rosie at Rosenthal’s for over 20 years. In fact, at this point, there is very little in our home that wasn’t purchased from her. Rosenthal’s is really the only place to buy true contemporary furniture in the Twin Cities. Others advertise contemporary as part of their collections but Rosenthal’s is the only store we’ve found that is consistently dedicated to it. That’s a tough road to travel in this very traditional market. Those who find their offerings weird or the result of a child’s imagination don’t really understand or appreciate true contemporary offerings. For true lovers of contemporary furniture Rosenthal’s is a godsend. Rosie provides access to styles and brands that are commonplace in larger, progressive markets like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles but unheard of here. While many styles are available to look at in the shop, it’s her catalog room that opens up the unique and varied world of contemporary furniture. Those of us familiar with contemporary styles know they aren’t mass produced in North Carolina. Most pieces are made to order in places like Italy and Norway. That’s why they are so cool. But that takes time. You don’t go to Rosie’s for instant gratification. It is not unusual for items to take 3 – 6 months to arrive. That’s the price one pays for a truly unique piece of furniture. If you want what everyone else has and you want it now… go somewhere else. Rosenthal’s is not for you. Personally I appreciate the delay… it gives me more time to pay for the furniture. :) We have found the staff at Rosenthal’s to be professional, courteous, knowledgeable and very flexible. We typically bring in a room sketch and just let their designers help us think through various arrangements and options before we ever peruse the showroom floor. Once we’ve identified a viable option or two we are encouraged to return home and measure and visualize before finalizing an order. There is never any pressure to sign on the bottom line. No sale is finalized until you are 100% satisfied that your order will work perfectly in the room it was designed for. To summarize… if you’re tired of the same old stuff every furniture store in MN carries… make your way to Rosenthal’s. if you’re looking for a unique, contemporary piece for your home there is none better in Minnesota than Rosenthal’s.

After shopping the typical furniture stores(West Elm, Room & Board) and becoming tired of the constant onslaught of Chinese imports I decided to give Rosenthal a look. I’d seen the store before but never fully considered it until I learned it was a family run enterprise that has been in Minneapolis for over 100 years. Additionally, after stopping in their showroom one afternoon, to my delight, I learned that much of their furniture is actually made in the US or Europe. High quality and well built. We ended up picking up a clearance living room couch set that we absolutely love. We bought it from Jim, who was a delightful person to deal with — helpful and laid back. I’d do business with them again in a heartbeat.

If you order something from this store don’t expect to receive it in under a year. My wife and I ordered a bed set from here. We were told it would take about 5 months to receive it from Italy we said ok, 5 months came and went then 6 then 7. At this point I had enough so I canceled the order they then told me I couldn’t get any of my deposit back then said there would be a 30% restocking fee. They should return all my money what company thinks it’s OK to have a costumer wait almost a year for a product that was suppose to be delivered in 5 months. Then tell the customer you have to pay a restocking fee. Don’t ever shop there.

I recently bought a desk from Rosenthal’s and I LOVE it. They had an awesome selection of modern, stylish pieces and a really wide range of prices(which was good since I wasn’t prepared to drop a grand or anything.) Jim and Rosy(she’s the owner we learned) helped my wife and I the other day and they were both super friendly and really helpful. You could tell they love what they do. Also, my wife and I are pretty young looking and tend to get ignored when we go places like this but they didn’t make any assumptions about our budget or whether or not we were seriously interested which was really nice. When I told Jim what we were looking for he didn’t even bat an eye before showing me his favorite new desk that he was sure I’d like and then proceeded to bust out a few books of different stuff he thought were up my alley. I loved the first desk. but it was a little out of my price range so when my wife showed up we found a really great desk that fit both our apt size and our price range(we spent $ 300) while looking really awesome and being well built. oh and Rosy said that they started changing their selection in 2008 so my guess is the first commenter was their before that…?

Rosenthal’s is like a museum of furniture you wanted to design as a child, but not in a good way — think three stories of neon blue end tables and couches with rotating teacup seats. They offer some good designer knock offs, but you can likely get the real thing at the Room & Board Outlet for about the same price.(Case in point: A friend saw a knock off table there for only $ 100 less than the real thing) It’s worth the trip if you have, um, unique taste, but there’s definitely little to offer in terms of quality, longevity and class.
