Las Golondrinas Mexican Food

Service is great, food is meh.
I would much rather buy a taco out of a truck.

*This coming from a San Clemente native who’s been to the SC/​SJ locations endless of times growing up (which have always been awesome)*
First off horrible service
Every time I go into this place everyone’s friendly as can be until you ask them to actually do they’re job.
The First time I went in I grabbed 3 burritos. I asked them for extra salsa
And they gave me so much attitude as if I had offend them.
Today I went in again for 8 burritos for me and my co workers. I asked for extra salsa… they gave me 2 And told me it’s only 2 per order now, 2!!?
I just spent over 50 $ in food and she’s gonna sass me about extra salsa. They never even give you an option to buy more it’s always «only two per order» In the worst demeanor. smh.
Never going there again.

Horrible service! My family has had Las Golondrinas cater our Christmas Eve dinner for many years. This year the employees didn’t have the order ready, messed it up, and then were extremely rude when it was brought to their attention. There was no apology or offer to make things better, until my dad contacted their supervisor days later. The supervisor apologized, however the service that night was horrible and the employees had major attitudes. I will never go to this location again and I would caution anyone else about using them for an catered event as well.

The food is pretty good, but every time I’ve been here they have messed up my order in some way. Most recently, and the reason I’m writing this review, is that they flipped my entire order. I ordered a Big Dave (wet) and California burrito. Well they gave me a wet California burrito with extra cheese (I ordered a California burrito because I’m lactose intolerant) and a dry Big Dave. When I brought it up to them, they took it back but looked confused as to what was wrong with the order. The tea had a weird aftertaste, which was kind of a turn-​off. The wet Big Dave wasn’t wrapped properly, and looked more like they threw all the ingredients together then folded the tortilla over it. The Big Dave tasted pretty good with the carnitas, though.

All the 1 star reviews about the rude cashier are 100% accurate! The general manager (Steve) should be embarrassed to have an employee with such a bad attitude who treats his paying customers so poorly. Our medical facility placed 7 separate orders to pick up for lunch. While on the phone we made a change to one of the burritos and got a *SIGH* like it was such a huge inconvenience. My coworker and I went to pick up the orders and received such an attitude when we said the orders were all being paid for separately. He also didn’t have one of the orders ready. Once we finished paying, we start walking away and hear a very (intentionally loud) *SIGH*. Really? I’m sorry you hate your job but don’t take it out on your customers! My coworker turned right around and told the manager what we had to deal with. To top it off, the food is mediocre at best. Our office will not be ordering food from here again.

What a joke. Almost $ 150 lighter and the food we asked them to cater isn’t ready when they say it will be. Not even close. Then the cashier argues that he didn’t make up the time and they are «really busy» and I should plan to wait another 30? If I could rate them lower I would. And I won’t be back.

Love love love! Born and raised in orange county, this will always be my favorite Mexican food place. I don’t live in Orange County anymore I live in LA, so anytime I’m in Orange County I make sure to take a trip there and bring food home. Nobody can beat them!

Nice enough taco shop with good selection of homemade chips and salsa. This is our first visit and we opted for the $ 7.00 Big Dave burrito with carne asada, no beans our rice, carnitas soft corn taco and my wife a chicken tostada. The $ 7.00 burrito was more tortilla than meat, little salsa and little cheese, no guacamole. The taco had decent amount of meat but that was it and for 3.40 I was underwhelmed. My wife said her tostada had no crunch. It is a sin to serve a tostada without a crunch, shame, shame, shame. We are not really impressed with Las Golondrinas and will seek elsewhere when in Mission Viejo and have a craving for Mexican food.

Great food great service. Went to pick up a big order we had phoned in today and my card wasn’t working-​damaged magnetic strip. The cashier called the boss and they were able to run it from the corporate office and email the receipt. Bonus points for that much service
Of course the food is great. Machaca burrito was excellent. Huevos rancheros always excellent. Kid bean and cheese burritos filled em up. And grab a bag or 2 of chips and a thing of salsa and some guacamole. Always fresh and tasty. True good Mexican food is tough to find in the suburban wilderness but Las Golondrinas satsifies.

Best chips and guacamole in town! I had them cater a family event last year and everyone loved the food. You must try everything to find your favorite meal.

Rude workers! Can not get orders right!

This has rude worker it took 15 mins to make my burrito and they get mad cuz i asked wheres my burrito.
Rude! And the beans are burnt i wont be back not worth the wait

Love the Food, but have the 2 salsa Rules!!! You can spend $ 200 and you will still Only get 2 small salsas. Not Cool! Plus the cashiers are Not too friendly. if the staff was Nicer they would have A lot more Business.

Great Mexican food. The carne asada plate is loaded with carne asada. The food is tasty without being greasy. The tortilla Chips are Great to Pick up when ever I entertain at home I just add some guacamole and salsa. Great Mexican take out with a restaurant quality at great prices.

I wish I liked this place a lot more than I do. 3 stars for food, cleanliness, and service. This place could be a lot better but I think it needs to go through a lot of change before then.
Food: 3.5 stars
Sometimes I do crave this place because it’s fast and convenient. I stick to their beans, rice, cheese burrito with the salsa on the side. If you put the salsa in the burrito it will get super soggy and rip. I’ve had the taquitos before and they’re not impressive. The meat is really dry and it will cut your throat as you swallow it. You can get a good deal on the food if you go on a Tuesday night for Taco Tuesday. I think their burritos are discounted. In my opinion, this place is way overpriced for the quality and quantity. On the plus side, their guac is REALLY good.
Cleanliness: 2 stars
This place could really use an updated look. It looks like a cafeteria they use in prison-​based shows and it rarely looks clean in the front. I wouldn’t want to see what the back looks like so I’ll leave it at that.
Service: 1 star
Everyone is always so rude and so unwilling to help whenever I come in here. If you have a question about something, don’t expect to get a helpful answer because they will literally look at you like you’re stupid. Also keep a close-​eye on them because they will make mistakes and over-​charge you. Everything can add up here really quick and become pretty pricey so just keep that in mind when you come here.

It’s a pretty divey hole in the wall here but it’s authentic I’ll give them that. I went for a breakfast burrito which was huge and definitely filling but it took so long to get out that I probably would’ve eaten anything at that point. If you’re looking for something quick I wouldn’t really suggest this place and feel like there’s way better options in the area.
They got an extra star for putting lots of cheese in my breakfast burrito though.

Have yet to have a meal I did not like., Kids love the california burrito, a must for me the chile relleno burrito or fajitas, my son is all about tje big dave.

Meh! Never really noticed this restaurant. No one ever raved about it. Decided to try it because someone told me that it was good. Surprised to find that it was so big inside. Looked like a big production with all those workers in the back.
I asked the indifferent girl at the counter whether I should get the beef or chicken fajitas burrito. NEVER trust an indifferent girl… she doesn’t care. Against my better judgment… because I love beef so much, I got the chicken. The girl wasn’t even going to give me any salsa until I asked for it. WHO does not eat salsa with Mexican food?
I really was excited to eat my burrito when I got home, but also excited of the prospect of having an awesome GO-​TO Mexican place.
When I go home, I took the contents out of the tortilla. I paid an extra $ 2 for guacamole, btw. It looked super good, but unfortunately… it wasn’t. BLAND! I tasted the chicken fajitas with a piece of tortilla… maybe I was missing something because the tortilla was missing. NOPE!!! IF something is good… each individual component will be DELICIOUS on it’s own.
Dissatisfied.
The salsa didn’t even have any flavor. :0(

I even posted the photo. I ordered a fish taco that was still raw in the center. DISGUSTED!!! Check out the photo I posted. Omg. proof.. I’m calling tomorrow to get my money back. And the sad thing is several months before I became a bit sick after eating at this establishment and I assumed it was a 24 hour virus of sorts. So several months later I decided to give them another chance. MY MISTAKE!!! Now I have no choice but to believe the people who work at this place and cook the food they serve to people either don’t care… Or they just don’t know what they are doing. I’ve never posted a complaint like this but the food is horrible and in fact a health risk. I will be contacting the manager to express my concerns and ask for my money back. I threw my tacos straight into the trash receptacle after taking those photos and had to go get food again twice. APPALLED and DISGUSTED
