I love the food! i dont mind an older crowd atmosphere! I have beencoming here for years because the service has been always great and the owner actually greets you at the door and she is a super sweetheart. I enjoy the pies and pancakes and scrambles. I definitely recommend it for anyone that is craving a good priced breakfast.

Busy location with average service. Food was good and VI norm.

I have always loved Village Inn. For breakfast chains, it has some of the best coffee. The décor is vintage themed and adorable and there is ample seating. I like the wait staff, much better than the competition, but I do have favorite staff at VI. They offer a nice breakfast selection, normally I order a VIB, where you choose 4 menu items. My favorites include: bacon, eggs, hash browns, fruit cup, pumpkin pancakes, French toast, crepes, and pie. Sometimes I stop by for pie to take home.

We discovered the joys of Village Inn on our recent trip to Colorado. We had an excellent breakfast and a very good dinner at two different locations. Plain, good food with great coffee, served by some very nice young ladies. We were excited to find a VI right here in the metro area. Had a very good dinner this afternoon and found the food and service to be on par with the Colorado locations. Décor is from the 60s-70s, but the place was clean. No sticky tables or menus. Yay! One minor issue — the ceiling has some water damage and the tiles are bulging and funky. I kept looking up to see if it was going to fall on the table.

Clean, efficient service. OK food. I had chicken fried steak breakfast and only comment was that the batter on the steak was a little too salty. Nothing wrong with this place but it just never gets my attention as a first choice for breakfast.

Village Inn is great, especially when you’re in the mood for some great hash browns! It’s not fancy, just comfortable and cozy. It’ll make you feel young since many of the customers seem to be up in years.

The banana and strawberry crème french toast is 5 stars! The chili however. probably from a can. My family prefers this place over Dennys or IHOP any day! More expensive than Dennys a little cheaper than IHOP. They aren’t willing to substitute crepes for pancakes even with an up charge. It was a little irritating. We were charged for substituting regular pancakes for chocolate chip ones but never got the chocolate chips. They are also unwilling to serve half portions of the French toast which was also irritating. We would have bought a pie but but our bill was already $ 65 for 4 people’s breakfast… a little pricey. The rueben and side salad I ordered I took home with me. It was $ 9.50, gross, I will probably feed the meat from it to my dogs. In short, if you eat here. Order the French Toast or country fried steak! You’ll have to ask for extra gravy, and yes they will charge you. Stick with breakfast or burgers. Also, it would be nice if their waitstaff smiled more although my food here has always come to us quickly.(and for the most part correct.) The hostess was very happy and up beat. Same with the cashier. The 3 times we’ve eaten here the waitresses have always been with dreary faces.

Village Inn is a great diner with fast, friendly service and good food. If you’re looking for a classic breakfast… hash browns, eggs, pancakes, etc… then this is the place for you. The pies look good too, but I’ve never tried them.

I have to start my review with a confession: I call this place the Village Idiot. It’s so set in my head that I almost used that to the staff, which was embarrassing to say the least. That aside, I love the Village Idiot. It’s by no means fancy – it’s pancakes, skillets, burgers, that sort of fare – but the food is well done. I have had both their breakfasts and their burgers and sandwiches, and have liked both, but their breakfasts are definitely their strong suit. And, of course, there is their award-winning pie. Mmm, pie… I do have a bit of a complaint to voice, however. I went there today for lunch, and had one of their specials, which consists of either soup or salad, a half sandwich, and a piece of pie for $ 7.something($ 7.95, maybe?). It was good, but the half sandwich was more like a quarter sandwich in size. It was fine, but don’t order it if you’re really hungry. That aside, I’ve always had good luck at the Village Idiot(see, now I can’t stop myself). I’ve had good service, good food, and have generally been pleased. Not only will I go back, but I regularly do.

I like coming her for their breakfast. My girls are sometimes picky and this place never disappoints. They also like the fact that if they eat all their food, they get to eat a piece of pie. Their pies bomb!

Village Inn gets an additional star for throwback value alone. I remember going to the Village Inn on Iowa Street in Lawrence for breakfast for years. Was it gourmet? Oh, heck, no! But it was a nice hot breakfast at a reasonable price with fast friendly service. This Village Inn is a bit reminiscent of the now defunct one in Lawrence which makes me happy. We ventured in recently at the hubby’s rather vehement insistence for a piece of pie. The hubby had a piece of peach pie and I went extra fancy and got a piece of pie that reminded me a bit of a Reece’s peanut butter cup. My hubby loved his pie and inhaled it in about 60 seconds. My slice was a bit too sweet for me, but was otherwise pretty tasty. Next time, I’ll go for a slice of fruit pie instead. Our tab for the two slices was around 4 bucks. Yeah, really. Hard to believe, huh? Our server was very fast. I swear, we were only in there for a total of about 15 minutes and that’s only because I can’t/won’t inhale pie as quickly as my hubby. If my hubby had gone in there by himself, he would have been out of there in less than 5 minutes.

Service was friendly and prompt. The food was pretty good, nothing special. One reason I’d never go back… I couldn’t drink the coffee. It tasted like burnt paper. If I can’t drink the coffee at a breakfast joint, I won’t bother. So, if you’re OK with water or juice… go ahead. Oh, I was on the bike so I couldn’t get the pie. It does look good, though!

Some places have it all figured out. Village Inn is one of those places. The food here is always good and the quality is always consistent. Although this location seems outdated a bit, it is very clean. I have been coming here since I was a kid in the ‘70s. What they do best: breakfast and pie. PERIOD! I’ve tried lunch and dinner here(which were good experiences), but breakfast takes the cake. I love eggs benedict, and Village Inn delivers! Pie? French silk, french silk, french silk! Did I mention the french silk? The only pie in the world I’ve ever ordered because the crust is so freakin’ good. Writing this just made me crave Village Inn… I’m out!

Second time I went there for an internet advertised item. Both times they didn’t have it. First time was on their main page: Chicken and Waffles. Nope, not at ours Second time was Hawaiian Strawberry Pankcakes, at the local website: Nope, that was a special back in March and we can’t make it anymore. Only reason to give these guys a break is their key lime pie. Other than that, the décor was something from a 70’s movie. The waitress was nice and i felt sorry for her since it wasn’t her fault I was disappointed. I’m sure the other food is fine, I just have principles and it’s their managers job to make sure they’re not falsely advertising.

I know, I know… it’s Village Inn! It’s a diner a step up from Ihop. Not! Village Inn warrants my time to review it because… ITSGOOD! It’s CLEAN! It’s A great breakfast menu. AND… it’s hard to find good breakfast places. So don’t shoot the messenger… I’m just here to say it’s REALLY good albeit a 70’s diner. I had a delicious scramble with fresh veggies. it’s the first time I’ve been able to drink«diner» coffee. Not too bad. Not the greatest… but hot and fresh! If you’re looking for a regular place to go… or need a change from paying too much for eggs… give Village Inn in Mission a try.

OK, I guess that there’s a caveat: I only ever come here when I’m hungover. Still, the food’s not great — you can just tell that everything has been in a microwave.

The only reason this restaurant gets three stars from me is because of the friendly service. Their food is more often than not a «meh». I have to question their pick of chefs because my boyfriend got an omelet that looked like a lump, which from a distance I swore was a fried chicken breast. I definitely don’t find their food delicious but the grease in it makes for a good hangover cure.

Great service and great food. What I really like is that the quality is very consistent. It is very clean(never has sticky tables or dirty rest rooms) If you come on Saturday or Sunday, like many places you will have a short wait to get a table, but it never seems excessive. I eat there 3 or 4 times a month.

So, as most of you know, I’m not a big fan of concept/chain restaurants, but Village Inn, like Bob Evans, is a clean, higher quality version of the IHOP/Dennys model. I first encountered it up in Omaha and enjoyed it, and today I grabbed a business lunch with a friend. As is the case with most American diners, I got waayyyyy too much food with my order, but that’s okay, I just planned on having the leftovers anyway(I asked her to box the pancakes instead of serving them). Country fried steak skillet. Yeah, really. Breakfast for lunch is the best.
