I live in Riverbank and sometimes go downtown to this salon.(Not on weekends thought). They do good work for the price and i never have had a problem with cleanliness or protocol. When i worked downtown I’d go here at lunch and they would get me in and out in a timely manner. I can only think of one time in 10 years I was not happy with the manicure/acrylic…but not enough to go back and have them fix it.

Okay, I’m a guy and I get my toes done. There, I said it, and I’m not embarrassed. Why? Because girls like men who don’t have troll feet. And I like the way they look — much better than I can do. It’s that simple. I remember the first time I got a pedicure at Top Ten Nails. I went with a co-worker who was getting her nails done and she encouraged me to try a pedicure. At first, I was not that excited. It can’t be that great I thought. Plus, this is a place where women get their nails done. What can they do for a dude? I was wrong. Since that fateful trip about nine years ago, I have gone here consistently to get my toes done. Just a pedicure, no coat(although I tried one once and did not like it). But let me tell you fellas, there is nothing like having manicured toes and cleaned-up feet. Nothing. Did I mention girls like it? This place has always been welcoming, reasonably priced, and done a great job. I’m a huge fan. Once, when I was out-of-town, I went to another salon. I paid more and I did not like the experience nor believe they did as good as a job. This place is like my barber, it’s the only one I go to and I like the consistency, the welcoming environment, the friendly talk, the price, and did I mention my girl likes it when my feet don’t look like a troll? Highly recommended.

Top Ten is my go to nail salon in Modesto. I go other places if I’m desperate, but you can’t beat the service here. The lemon/cucumber water, the snacks, the best massage chairs, AND the staff always remembers your name and how you like things. And not just me because I’m special, I frequently hear them ask their customers about their families and children, like they’ve known them all their lives. Love them! Oh! And my nails look great! :)

I went to Top Ten Nails for my first time 6 days ago, and unfortunately I won’t be back. I came for a gel French manicure and regular French pedicure. The employees were pleasant and kind, I enjoyed my conversation with the manicurist, and the water with lemon and complimentary snack were a nice touch. The massage chair was nice too and the prices were reasonable — they even didn’t charge me the additional fee to remove my gel polish since it wasn’t much work — however, I was quite dissatisfied with my manicure and pedicure. The actual process was okay except I thought it was strange that they used a tool to peel off the gel polish on my toes as opposed to just using the foil and soaking the polish off. I figured that couldn’t be very good for my nails. And for my gel French manicure, I was surprised that they just painted on the white without using a paint brush to remove the excess and shape the white part like I am used to elsewhere. This resulted in the white part being very uneven and jagged instead of a nice smooth line. I was willing to deal with that, but the worst part that will prevent me from returning is the manicure only lasted about 3 days before chipping. By day 4, 3 or 4 nails had significant portions of the white chipped off, and gel manicures should last 2 weeks — that is the whole point of getting a gel manicure and paying more, because it is meant to last. By day 6, my nails were in terrible shape, and I work on a computer for work, so it isn’t like I am using my hands a lot. Even though my toes weren’t gel, pedicures still usually last up to a month or so without chipping, and a couple of my toes are already chipping. One of them was smeared when I left the salon because the pedicurist did not leave my toes separated long enough to dry before removing the tissue from between them. I feel like this was a waste of $ 50 plus tip. I had to go to my usual salon back home(I am not from this area) today to remove the gel manicure and just give me a regular one as I cannot afford to fork out money for 2 French gel manicures in one week. Disappointing, and again, I feel bad for saying so because the experience otherwise was quite positive, but I really feel they need to reevaluate their process/hone their skills because they are apparently lacking. :(

My second time back but not my last! I come for pedicures. Don and his crew are fantastic! Water with lemon while you get your service. A side plate of dried fruits, nuts and other yummies. The service is nice, the warm lotion rub on my feet and calves is very soothing. The place is busy and very relaxing! Oh a hot towel on my feet? Yes please! Great job Don!

Clean, friendly&…the royal treatment? Not to mention that my nails look fab! Got the basic pedi but I’m definitely getting the upgrade on my next visit when I have more time. Chevron design & all shellac on my fingers. I’m definitely coming back for more. Sadly I did not get the name of the guy who did my nails, he was great. Would’ve given all 5 stars BUT I kinda felt like my pedi was rushed & I didn’t get all the massaging or anything. Totally going back though on a day other than Saturday when they’re not as busy.

Went to get shellac removed from my natural nails. I had previously been to this salon with mixed personal reviews when I had a full set of gel nails. On one occasion the shellac wasn’t put on consistently and had color variation. I decided to try again last month for shellac of my natural nails that I have been growing out since January. Being they had just done some upgrades I figured to give them another shot. After last months visit I was happy with my painted nails the owners wife had done. I went back this Saturday to have the old shellac removed and new painted. I got the younger guy(not owner) for my manicure. My hands weren’t soaked at any point in warm water. He used foil to help remove the shellac but did end up using a tool to chip and file shellac off which is a huge no no on natural nails. Especially since I had waited 4 months for them to grow out and strengthen from false nail damage! I let him finish my nails and left a $ 2 tip instead of my norm $ 4 – 5. My shellac was uneven and had bumps from the not so great paint removal and filing he had done to the tops of my nails. Still I decided to suck it up and move with the resolve of not returning in the future. The very next day my shellac on 4 fingers were already chipping at edge of nails. I was so upset and new I had to at least request a refund. I called and left a message as they were closed on Sunday’s. I requested a refund nicely to the wife who called back. She explained I had to stop by before 630. I told her the only day I could was Tuesday. I went to the shop today and was told by the owner that I could not receive a refund because the worker has spent his time doing my nails I explained I didn’t have time to sit and allow a redo that frankly I didn’t want him further damaging my nails that I would like a refund because after all I has wasted a portion of my own time getting a bad manicure. He explained he could not refund me and that his wife never said they would. I told him he did not have this policy posted and that he could just resolve by giving me my 25 dollars back. I have a tight schedule and was very disappointed at his lack of resolve. Needles to say I will not be returning to my this shop and it’s upsetting as the location is ideal to my residence. I don’t normally complain or request refunds but this was pretty ridiculous and disappointing!

I wanted to try a nail salon in my neighborhood, hoping to find someplace close to my house. Walked in without an appointment and was immediate helped. Today I wanted a manicure and pedicure. They didn’t ask what kind I wanted. Two people immediately started on my manicure and pedicure. The salon was fairly clean and the towels weren’t worn and gray like some places I’ve seen. So the manicure was a bit strange… the fellow never put my hands I. Warm water to soak… just the cuticle remover, the oil and the nippers. I thought that was weird. He did a massage and the polish. My pedicure was good. Still was weird that they didn’t offer the upgraded treatments. I would have bought it today. Not sure I will ever go back. When I get a manicure and pedicure I want to walk out feeling good… I walked out today feeling like they wanted to get the job done and go somewhere else.

I’m a little upset with the way my sister was treated when we went today. I went for the pedicure and she went for a manicure. The girl that was doing my sister’s mani, put the lamp on my sister’s nails, then just got up and went and called someone. =0/I know there’s a language barrier here, but she could of least said«Done», or something to let my sister know she was done. My pedicure was nice. I think I will get a spa pedi though next time, I like the extra’s.
