Yeah, this is not a «farmers market» at all. It’s a regular store with regular food and mostly mass produced fruits and veggies. They also have a large kosher section, which contributes more bland boring food items. If they actually had local, or slightly higher end food they might not have to pander to the orthodox crowd who are only there 2 months of the year.

Its possible the pies are great –didnt try them — but this is not a «farmers market» in any sense of the current usage — Local honey & syrup perhaps but that is also avail in virtually any catskill market — otherwise Andy Boy type broccoli is the norm. Peaches from below the Mason Dixie line — and all he freshness we are used to in that respect. Most fruit hard as a rock– including the bin of local plums — Prices may indeed be low, certainly less than most locally based markets, but that is because this is simply another outlet for the same suppliers of Shop-rite etc. And if price is the sole criterion ship could be your place

One of the GEMS of Monticello! Great prices, friendly employees, fast service, variety of locally produced honeys and maple syrups… AND I don’t know how many know THIS, but whoever supplies the fresh baked pies… OMG! The absolute BEST homemade pies I’ve EVER eaten… ANYWHERE! I asked and was told they are avail Thursdays and Fridays. Warning: they go quickly! I was told they’re made locally(not DeFilippi) and the market bakes them, so they’re often hot out of the oven when I’ve purchased. Apple and«forest Harvest»(mixed berry w/rhubarb) are the two I’ve experienced. I hope the person responsible for those pies, opens their own shop sometime in the future. When they do, then Some of these other stores who make pies that«look» good, but are terrible, will be able to put their money toward their strengths and Leave the pie making to those who KNOW.

Great find, stumbled into this Farmers Market right off of Rt 17 and was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection and low prices. Great selection of artisanal honey(how hipster is that?!) and all the fruits and veggies we bought tasted like they just came off the farm. Kudos also to the super friendly staff.

This off the highway treasure has been a favorite of ours for years. They consistently have the vegetable staples at great prices and consistently have the best prices anywhere anywhere on green and colored peppers. Eggs, herring in jars, kosher specialties, bins of apples in the fall, this modest-sized market is worth the stop every time. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is a bit rough around the edges, but a stop will be rewarded with some unexpected find.

I love this place for its terrible treasure status. They have cheap fruits and veggies always, some of the best honey ever, the lowest prices on milk around, and though its a shade above freezing in the winter, they provide samples of their hot apple cider. This place was a staple of my kidhood(a scant 15 years ago).

I was surprised that not only were there no reviews of this place, but I actually had to create a listing. Talk about undiscovered. This is a year-round farmer’s market, right off Rt. 17, in a cruddy part of Monticello. But it’s definitely worth a detour from whatever more desirable destination you’re heading to. First of all, as I said, it’s open all year round. Secondly, it has a terrific selection of veggies, baked goods and such. Thirdly, it’s cheap, considerably cheaper than most other farmers markets in the area, and often cheaper than the Shoprite supermarket. Fourthly they take plastic. Obviously it’s not strictly a farmer’s market in the winter, but that’s nothing to cry about. OK, it’s not upscale. It’s a bit shabby. But this is Monticello, people.
