Like Fat and Griste — This is your place I have a friend and business assoicate who raves about this place. Of course he raves about how inexpensive it is but then again, you get what you pay for. I love NCBBQ and NCBBQ done properly is a fine art. This is not culinary art Ordered a pulled pork plate. Normally in the preparation process, you throw out the gristle, fatty parts, tough chey portions etc. Not here. Throw it on the plate. Also the BBQ is not properly drained so the end result it oily to the taste. Service is poor and indifferent. Would not recommentd

I went with my family to this restaurant thinking we would have a decent meal but all we got was greasy old food. They dont label everything so you dont know what your going to eat, my husband was starving and took a big bite of what looked like fried chicken strips and he almost threw up since it was fried fish instead(he doesnt eat fish). Also the place isnt clean. The restroom is outdated and very dusty. I would never step into this place again.

There are a few times in life you wish you would have turned around when you walked in the door, this was one. When we walked in we noticed it was seat yourself so we go around and look for a booth to sit in. Every booth was dirty with cups and plates needing to be cleaned off, at least 5. They didn’t have bus boys, the waitresses had to clean the tables. Keep in mind this was on a Sunday after church when they only had 3 waitresses scheduled and 2 large parties one of 60 and one of 30 that they had to take care of as well. Once we flagged down a waitress after sitting there for 15 mins we finally got our drinks. And she explained to us their situation. I felt bad for them. She did the best that she could. So to the slop, I mean food. They had a couple things that were ok but most was just gross. The mashed potatoes were from flakes. The Mac & Cheese was worse than the Kraft powder kind. It was neither orange nor yellow. It was tan and over cooked pasta. Yuck! With my one person total being $ 16.00, I would expect better. The rice and gravy was good, the chicken and pepper steak as well. This will be the very last time I come here. There is a Golden Corral across the bridge please go there, the price is just the same but better quality food.

Smoke flavor was great in the BBQ, chicken and sausage that I had. A number of southern favorites were on the menu. Desserts were poor.

We came in to Fat Boys for a sports banquet. I tried to keep an open mind, but just can’t give it more than two stars. If not for a few items on the buffet it would have been one. The salad bar was not good. Iceberg lettuce, not much in the way of fresh vegetables to top it. Let’s start with the items that were good on the hot buffet. The pulled pork was good, although the BBQ sauce available to top it was not. Do yourself a favor and have the meat without sauce. The fried chicken was good, as was the smoked chicken. Their yeast rolls were soft and buttery. My husband says the creamed corn was good. The fried squash was decent if you don’t mind every bit of healthiness to be removed from a vegetable. :/ And that’s about it. The macaroni cheese was awful – completely watered down with no flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted like something from a box. The hush puppies were over-cooked. And possibly the worst part was the«soft serve» «ice cream» that was so hard that once extruded from the machine sat in an ice cream cone like a giant hunk of poo. Definitely not worth the price tag.

I actually love this place. I dont quite understand the horrible reviews. My only complaint is thay it is a little pricey on seafood night. Everything on the bar tastes homemade though, including the banana pudding!

This place was terrible the food was cold and we drove all the way from Charlotte. This by far was the worst buffet I’ve had my entire life and to make things worse the lady had the nerve to ask us did we enjoy our meal and we went on to tell her NO. She then admitted to not having anyone come in and that things were slow and that they should of closed up early and we agreed but thought who would actually tell a customer that. The décor was dated and the dark parking lot looked like a ghost town along with the unattractive sign. The only standout was the great service from the staff who seemed to be very pleasant but I still wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone for anything.

Buffet selection was similar to a Golden Corral except less variety. The food was tasty and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our server, Judy, made sure she placed our own drinks in front of us, which was a nice touch for a buffet. She also brought us our refills and poured it into our cups instead of leaving it at our table, which I liked. As for the buffet, I did notice that the pulled pork was beside a dessert dish which confused my dad at one point. I had to inform him it was cake, not chicken. There are no labels by the foods which I think could bother some people if they wanted to know what it was, but I’m not picky so I didn’t mind. The mashed potatoes, perhaps the gravy, tasted a little strange to me but my brother liked it. Overall the food was pretty decent. For the Friday special of less than $ 6 it was well worth it. I don’t know if I would come back for the regular price of $ 10+ though.

Not delicious. Very bland. Meat and veggies are finely chopped, making the contents somewhat suspicious. Three people went in, and three people came out hungry.

They need to change some selections on there buffet. I ve been here a couple of times, the last time I went it was around 2 and the food was gross, everything was cold, and rushed. They need to consider changing some things on their buffet. I would recommend going here if you have a group of people and you are paying for them, its cheap but go when they are just opening for fresh food.

Lived in Mooresville for 6 years and just now ate at fat boys. I had no clue it was a BBQ buffet. I loved the selection and the never ending chopped pork. Not as good as Lancasters but a way better price for the amount of food you can get.

My husband and I were at Fatboy’s on Tuesday for lunch. We were disgusted with the waitress. She used the same cloth that she used to clean tables with to clean the ice cream machine where the ice cream comes out! Nasty! Also, the ice cream cones were not in a dispenser. They were stacked beside the machine open where someone could sneeze or cough all over them. This is not sanitary! Our buffet was suppose to include desserts, but there were none except for the ice cream. I would not eat ice cream after what we witnessed. Won’t be going back.

Would that there was a sub single-star rating. This is a run-down buffet with food that has no seasoning or flavor. I took my dad and step-mom here as Pops loves his cafeterias. You know, that down in Mississippi side of the road restaurant with steam pans… This ain’t it. I was embarrassed by how bad it was. I don’t like to give bad ratings, but it is what it is.

This is your typical southern dive, no thrills, country restaurant! I don’t make it up to Moorseville that often to eat but I stopped in here with a friend a few weeks back and saddled up to the buffet. Everything on the buffet is what you would expect to see on a southern style buffet. Fried chicken, pulled pork(BBQ), fried skrimps :-), and all the fixins. All in all I would have to say the food was pretty good and the people watching was even better. For me it was almost refreshing to walk into such a non-pretentious establishment so close to Charlotte! I hear a lot of bikers hang out there too but I didn’t see any. I noticed that they had a bar but I didn’t walk over to it. Anyway, tax, tags, and title will cost you about $ 15 per person for the dinner buffet. Go hungry and leave bloated southern style!
