I am so disappointed to have to write this review. I have been a long-time loyal customer and have eaten there for over 20 years. I went there last week and had a horrible experience. When I addressed it with the manager, Diane, she was very rude and unpleasant. Instead of remaking my burger, they just ripped the extra patty off and gave me back a sloppy destroyed burger. When I approached her about some of the other errors that happened during our visit she was less than helpful and said that«this is just the way they do business». I then further called one of the owners, Mike Bost, who was also less than helpful. I just wanted to offer him feedback as I think it is a great place to eat and I am concerned about how customers are being treated. He interrupted me multiple times and wouldn’t let me speak. He was genuinely not interested in my feedback and had condescending attitude. He had no real desire to hear my constructive feedback or try to satisfy me as a customer.

Nasty. Disgusting. Please, no. Why on earth would you eat here? The food is horrendous, the wait staff is rude and a little scary. The place looks«retro», I get it. But uh… the food is No No. Please for the love of delicious food go somewhere else.

What-a-burger, more like«what? That’s a burger?» Probably the worst excuse of a burger I’ve ever tried to eat. Listen Mooresville natives, don’t get sensitive on me, but if this is a go to place for you all to eat then you should really consider your closest McDonald’s. I hope the woman ringing out customers takes care of her stalker situation. Glad she felt comfortable telling us about that? Also, mixing cherry Fanta and Sundrop, isn’t making a homemade cherry lemon Sundrop. CHEAP. What-a-burger, ha what-a-joke.

Ok, how can you not like this place. It’s so old school. I remember coming here when I was younger. It has not changed at all. I ordered the What-A-Cheeseburger, fries and a soda. My friend got the same except for onion rings. I’ll take the rings over tater tots or fries. I really like the burgers, you just can’t go wrong. Quick tip… if you are eating onsite, in your car, bring extra napkins or something to put it all on. We had food resting on my dashboard, arm rest & laps. Ha! Oh, and it’s cash only!

After waiting 20 minutes at least after placing my order, the cashier gets on the intercom again and says«can you give me your order again?» Seriously? And then it took another 20 minutes. I waited 40 minutes for fast food. Awful. Avoid this one and go to MP.

What a burger Mooresville is 60’s drive-in. The Drive in is a trip down memory Lane for me. Still run by local workers. The food has never changed. Still a good value for a big burger. I will always love this part of my life. I love the fact that it is a great part of Mooresville’s. Past and Present

This place use to be the best burger place in town. Sadly, it is no longer even close. I grew up going here and loved it. This last visit was horrible. First, the employees are terrible. Terrible customer service and people skills. Too busy trash talking and gossiping to even realize that there were customers at the counter… and they were leaning against it, so they were right there! Then, they act as if you are a bother and how dare you interrupt their conversation. The food was just as bad. The slaw was bad and the hot dog was no better than a gas station hot dog. I will never be back to this place. It’s a shame that they have let the terrible employees run this place into the ground. Wake up management/owners. You have been here a while and honestly at this point I don’t know how you are surviving. This place use to have great customer service. That is no longer the case.

Ok I saw the most disgusting thing the last time I was here. The person packing up the food didn’t have gloves on and decided to put some water bottles in the ice for her and her coworker to drink in the ice that is used to make the drinks. She shoved her hands deep in the ice for a while because she couldn’t find it and that’s just NASTY! She was touching everything like her hair and face and wiped her nose and that’s just what I saw while I was waiting for my food! DIS-GUS-TING!!! Never again

Terrible. 40 mins before closing but can’t take an order. Rude inside and on the phone. Need a new staff. And fast!

If you are craving some legit southern dive food this place is it. It’s a shame, I think all of the one star reviewers were looking for a Five Guys. There’s one near Target. If you want a cool southern experience, or a Mooresville experience, or a new Instagram post, then go to What-A-Burger, no filter needed. Oh and the Witch Doctor drink has pickles in it. It’s good.

I have eaten at lots of great burger dives. What-a-Burger is not one of them. After finally caving to the raves of native Mooresvillians I went there today to give it a try. I can not think of one redeeming quality about the place other than the service was fast. The burgers were similar to what I would find at McDonalds, and honestly the ones from the Golden Arches have more flavor. The fries were the same kind served in my elementary school cafeteria 30 years ago. What-a-disappointment, would be a better name for this place.

I love the nostalgia of this place. My husband loves that they make«real» cherry Sundrop — Sundrop with grenadine. Is it anything like In-N-Out on the west coast, sadly no. But it’s still worth checking out. It just cool. The food is pretty straight forward — burgers, fries and soda. It’s decent. Great food? No. Fun treat to try? Yes!

Came here a while back. Really wanted to try out the ‘historic’ drive up restaurant. Well, we drove up, ordered, and then waited 20 minutes without even getting our drinks or any communication from anyone there. We finally just left and ate somewhere else.

Please note, this is not a modern Whataburger. It has the look, feel, and taste of the way drive-ins, burger stands, corner drugstores(many small town corner drugstores had short order food service), and mom-n-pop restaurants were. From the time you walk in the smell of fresh made food, the hustle in the kitchen, and the nostalgic feel in the air lets you know this is the real deal. This is also a cash only establishment. Cost is inexpensive. Expect the buns to be toasted on the strong side for flavor, and the meat to be well done. My order was correct, hot, and very good. Right away the folks could tell I was not from ‘around here’, but that did not dissuade them from being patient with me and my ignorance of the way things are to be ordered. It would have been easy to make me feel like a heal, but they did not. A plus for being nice. The fries will have a different texture, the pies will taste like there are some real apple wedges in there and they will probably be hot. The burgers are wrapped in paper — relax — it is better for you than styrofoam or cardboard. They don’t use bagged lettuce with heavy preservatives that make some folks sick so that is a plus too. The parking here is a little tricky. If you are from out of town, take a deep breath and be nice. There is a method here take a moment to figure it out. During peak hours this is not RV or trailer friendly largely due to height restrictions, but there is more parking near by. If you are lucky enough to live close by places like this, please don’t overlook them.

I’d give this place 4−½ stars if Unilocal would let me … Not really sure how this place gets low scores — my burger was perfectly cooked, tasty and the fries were just oh so good! I got the What-A-Cheeseburger w/bacon, lettuce, tomato & pickles and that’s what it came with in a timely fashion. The surprise was The Witch Doctor — TOTALLY order it — even a small one if you’re grossed out my drinking a shot of every soda they have w/some pickle juice. Surprisingly delicious! Wish I lived closer to one — but then again I guess it’s a good thing I don’t …

I have been in Mooresville for years and everyone says go here. So one night me and a few friends went. The food mad me sick. The burgers were way over cooked and the buns were very burnt and the fries were amazingly soggy.

Horrible! We normally eat at the Kannapolis locations but I didn’t want to drive that far tonight so I tried this location. This Whataburger is not like others. Terrible service, soggy fries and my burger was not made correctly.(Ordered LTM received Mayo only) My husbands and my own burger buns were burnt and very smashed. When I returned home and noticed all of this I called and was basically told that if I drove back they’d fix it. And I had to bring the food back. It was late and I was so tired so I just threw it away and ate leftover over spaghetti. And they don’t have Cheerwine :(Waste of time and gas. Go to the Kannapolis or Mt. Pleasant locations A+++

I tried it with friends. Never again. Okay, maybe for the fries but nothing else. I ordered a BBQ sandwich. Should it have been hot? It wasn’t. Were they supposed to ask me if I wanted slaw on it? They didn’t(and I didn’t). The bun was soggy and so was the paper it was wrapped in. We asked for two orders of fries, one small and one medium. Both orders were the same size. The container with the sauce for my sandwich was only 1⁄3 full. Also the woman who took our order was rude and she seemed to mis-understand the basics of order-taking. The two stars are for the hot yummy fries, the extra napkins, ketchup, and salt included with our order. I won’t pay another visit.

Yum! This is a definite Mooresville landmark, that’s been around for many, many years! Granted the outside & inside looks like a «dive», but the food makes up for it! My regular meal consists of the«What-a-Burger»(hamburger with lettuce, tomato & onion), onion rings & a witchdoctor(mixture of soft drinks, with dill pickle chips). SOOO good! They have a wealth of other items as well. Bring cash! They’re old school & do not accept credit cards. Staff is super friendly & service is fast. You can call in your order, too! Beware of lunchtime rush, as it gets packed quick. They do have curbside service, too.
