Like goat meat, and authentic Korean food. I even like the service. Skip hmart food court. Little drive worth coming

Authentic tasting Korean food. I really enjoyed their spicy tofu stew. The restaurant was clean.

Jun Joo Shik Dang has been around in the Morton Grove neighborhood for years — other restaurants have come and gone, but this as well as Willow House down the street are the veterans along Dempster. I usually get the tabletop Jeuk Suk Yuhm So Bokkeum, which is a spicy Korean goat stew. It is definitely enough for two people. The stew itself comes in a big pot that is set on a portable gas burner. There’s a red broth that has perilla seeds, green onions, perilla leaves, and tender shreds of goat meat(the meat being nicely shredded and not too game-y). It is really hearty, spicy, and really clears up the sinus/nasal passages — Koreans state that this dish is a tonic for wrinkles, osteoporosis, poor ciculation, liver and kidney troubles, bad vision, good for pregnant women, as well as a stamina booster. One you are done with the goat, the broth is cooked down and the leftovers are used to add in rice, kimchi, and bean sprouts to make nurungjee, which is basically all the ingredients being spread as a thin layer on the shallow pan to make the bottom part crispy, and the Korean version of ‘fried rice’ in a way — love those crunchy rice bits! Dishes come with sides of banchans that are usually fresh, and the service is pretty okay. Many come in here for their lunch specials or for dinner, for their stews, soups, and Korean BBQ. I highly recommend trying the goat stew out as it is flavorful and an interesting meal to check out! +Jeuk Suk Yuhm So Bokkeum

This place is among one of many Koreans on Dempster in Morton Grove. However, the sign is only written in Korean characters. We double-checked with the address and they appeared to be open for business during lunch hours. Alright, I’m gonna cut to the chase and talk about their weekday lunch deals. For the two(2) entrees we ordered, plus the rice and banchan(an assortment of homemade small dishes), it was $ 17 and some change. Dining room here in Jeonjoo isn’t spacious at all, but the tables were set up to accommodate large groups, except there were two(2) smaller tables in between aisles for us, Rosa J. and her hubby. The lady in the house quickly delivered us the warm corn tea, so it was a great start for our first meal of the day since we only had coffee this morning. While we were watching some Korean singing variety show, the tofu stew and spicy cod soup were brought to our table, steamin’ hot, along with banchan and white rice. By the way, I would add the Korean phonetics in this review, but my i-pad mini kept on auto-correcting them. Well, I chose not to make any more attempt. It was a relaxing, pleasant, and comfortable dining experience here at Jeonjoo. I’m a city dweller, so the snack corner at Joong Boo in Avondale is my «go-to» place for Home-style Korean dishes. Nevertheless, I do get tired of fighting for a dine-in spot and the never-ceased human and vehicle traffic. I don’t mean to sound sarcastic; I’m kind of glad that there haven’t had many Unilocal reviews, as of 10/05/2015. Keep Jeonjoo in secrecy, and I will be totally ok with it!

great service, generous refills on pan chan and very affordable. I’ve tried all of the Korean places on Dempster and this and Nol Bu are my faves.

Not quite as good as my old favs on Bryn Mawr, but this is a much better location now that I live in Milwaukee. This is not very far off the Dempster exit of I-94 so it is the perfect break from the often brutal Chicago area traffic jams. Friendly(by Korean standards) family run place with a mainly Koren clientele, the jeuk suk yum so bokkeum is very good. The seating isn’t very comfortable, but the place is very clean, the food is so good I’m not sitting here long anyway. I really like the way they don’t skimp on the requisite Korean appetizer-side dishes like kimchee and such.

Amazing x10! After moving to Chicago, my fiancée and I are on a mission to find the best Korean restaurants. This place is a must try. I have been to many cities in and out of the US, and when it comes to mudfish soup and goat casserole, no other restaurant can be a competition(I would even say it tastes better than the ones in Korea) I have been in the city for 2 months, and I think I went to this place at least 10 times. Just try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Small restaurant with great authentic Korean food. My friends and I were driving into the city, but we were too hungry to sit in traffic and Unilocaled this place and decided to try it. We’re glad we did. The food was very good! Even the small appetizer plates were good too! Better than most places in K-town in NYC. The menu is small though.

A hidden Korean restaurant in Morton Grove that serves REALLY. GOOD home-style Korean food. My family and I was driving through the neighborhood and was craving Korean food. We ordered(naeng myun — cold buckwheat noodles),(yuk gae jang — spicy shredded beef soup), and(soon dubu jigae — spicy soft tofu stew). BOMB! Flavors were right on and priced right for lunch. What a nice surprise.

What a diamond in the rough!!! From the outside, it looks like an ordinary Korean restaurant. I came after a doctors appointment with my father. We were super hungry and wanted to get Korean Food. I honestly didn’t think that this place would be this yummy! From beginning to end, I was pleasantly surprised. The side dishes are all so fresh and good(and they give you a lot … some Korean places can be really cheap with their side dishes) that is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to Korean restaurants. ugh! We got the Goat stew, pot stickers, and yookgaejang. We finished everything and I even took an extra yookgaejang home for later. To top it all off. the owner was super nice… He came and checked on us several times to make sure we didn’t need anything else. I will definitely be going back to this place again.

Not many people know about this place, and maybe that’s why I like coming here. The food is amazing here, and it’s incredibly cheap. My friends and I discovered it on a whim, and we were so surprised by the taste of the food. Our favorite menu item is the budaejjigae dish. It’s packed with veggies and meat-a feast for three people, but filling for four people as well. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the waitresses are super nice. It’s not a super fancy place, but it truly is a great hole in the wall. Lunch special items are only 7 dollars, and so many side dishes come out. I’ve tried the kimchijjigae(kimchi stew) and the soondooboojjigae(tofu stew), and they both were satisfying. The pajeon is wonderfully crisp and delicious!

Good small mom and pop Korean restaurant which is popular with the Dempster locals despite its cozy size. Solid sides and staple entrees.

Thanks to a review from Unilocal,we actually knew to park in the back and go in through the kitchen. Warm greetings extended to really wonderful service. The food was really, really good: Bulgogi, mackerel, chap chae and soon tofu jigae. Even the banchan was really good, especially the kimchi and fish cakes. Incredibly affordable! Absolutely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
