Stopped in for lunch. Immediately greeted by server(Sparkles) she told us about all the specials available, had great product knowledge and sold us dessert even when we were stuffed! The food was delicious. Will absolutely put this place on our regular route for dining out.

Hubby and I went today for a drive and ended up here for lunch… the drive up was beautiful with fall colors on the trees. This is a cool funky restaurant, a lot of 60’s theme. We ordered a burger to spilt. It was really good, and the fries were also very good. The only complaint we have is they charged us a $ 1 to spilt our food. We usually split our meals when we go out, especially when we never been to the place before, this way we can check them out

Went in on a Friday night with the wife and didn’t really have a great experience. We just moved in down the road and got a major locals only vibe which we have never experienced before. Service was really poor as well. We ordered two burgers and they didn’t come out for 50 minutes. I ran out of water during the wait and was told she would get more, but she kept apologizing and telling me she would go get it and never did. The food itself was not bad. The burgers were good and the only gripe we had was the onions on the burgers were cut to thin and stringy which detracted from the burger. If we ever don’t wanna drive far and happen to stop here to give them a second chance, we probably would ask for no onion on the burger more than likely.

I love Big Lake, spent all of my summers here thru college but had never been here before. We had great food! Reuben, nachos, chili burger, Big Lake burger. No complaints, solid bar food, great, fun service. Really thinking about 10:30 am blackberry cobbler for breakfast…

We were on a motorcycle ride with our kids on a recent warm afternoon, and decided to stop here along highway 9. This place is as good as I remember from years ago when I lived in the area. The décor is plain but the food was fantastic and our server was super nice, and bantered well with my smart-aleck attempts at being funny(my wife says I’m not, but I have a lot of fun trying!). Outdoor seating if you want, separate bar and plenty of TV to catch the current game scores.

This place is a pleasant spot to go before a day on the water. The service is great and the food is exceptional. We ordered, a halibut burger, a bacon burger, a blue cheese burger and a side of fries. Overall this is a good spot I would consider going to again.(It has a good location next to the water)

With plans to spend a couple hours in the afternoon on Big Lake yesterday, we needed to refuel ourselves before spending some energy wave running. Big Lake Bar and Grill, as one might guess, overlooks Big Lake(and Hwy 9), and it’s about a 5 minute drive from the boat launch for the lake. It’s one of the many«road houses» in Washington in tiny communities, but what differentiates this one from all the others is a much better menu with fresh options. While fried foods are ubiquitous, there are some healthier choices too — and with that, I decided to go for the grilled halibut burger with a cup of their homemade beef barley soup. I asked if it was grilled or fried, and was thrilled to find out it was grilled halibut. The cup of soup actually came out to start, and while pretty salty(reminded me of Au Jus dipping sauce), it was delicious — chock full of barley, beef, a random baby carrot and a few mushrooms. It truly was divine as the server indicated it would be. For lunch, my husband had the sourdough burger which consisted of a tender beef patty with cheese and bacon on perfectly grilled sourdough with shredded iceberg lettuce(he opted out of the tomatoes & onions), served with a pile of fries. He devoured his burger faster than you can say the word burger, so my guess is that it was pretty good. My halibut burger was divine — and to be honest, I was a little leary of ordering a seafood item but it did not disappoint. Perfectly grilled, lightly seasoned halibut filet(probably 6oz portion!) on tangy grilled sourdough bread, with a little mayo, some lettuce, tomato, and onion with a delicious kosher dill spear. I couldn’t stop saying how good the sandwich was, and it really was perfect on some sourdough bread! Gives the tang that a wedge of lemon would. We both drank water, so our bill only came to $ 22.00 and some change, not including tip(we left our awesomely charismatic server a $ 5.00 tip). I was pleasantly surprised as halibut tends to be a pricey menu item(and their menu listed«market price» for the sandwich, so really I was going into this meal blindly). All in all a great stop that doesn’t disappoint!

Umm… WOW. I was blown away by how tasty my mushroom burger was. And the fries were delicious too. I was so full and yet I couldn’t stop eating. I didn’t want to let any go to waste! My mouth is watering just thinking about that tasty burg! It was definitely sloppy but man oh man it was delicious. Gotta love local«dives.» We came in on a friday night on our way up to our friends cabin and stopped to watch the coug game. The service was pretty good but the 3 ladies waitressing were sure busy. They seemed to know probably about ½ the people in the restaurant. Yes they were a little«abrasive» as one person on Unilocal put it, but we stayed a while and had quite a few beers so they seemed to get friendlier as time went on.

I’ve always been a fan of Big Lake Bar and Grill. Growing up in the surrounding area I came to know the lore of BLBG on the weekends. Bikers, bad ass women, and a car that came out of the dinning room wall. So now as an adult, a foodie, and beer lover my perception of BLBG hasn’t changed much. They have a wonderful burger from 11 to 4 weekdays thats only $ 4.99 with fries. I always have them add bacon and cheese for a buck! Happy hour is from 3 – 7 and most apps are 50% off as long as its not seafood based. Great beer selection, knowledgeable friendly staff, and delicious food. Often times during the week the owner is the only one back in the kitchen; so you know its done right. All around a wonderful gem off highway 9 between Fire Mt. Road and Lake Cavanaugh Road.

Situated on hwy 9 near Mount Vernon, the Big Lake Bar and Grill overlooks scenic Big Lake. Inside, the view is of antique cars and a couple of big screen televisions along with a small stage in the corner where live entertainment plays on the weekends. It’s a roadhouse and doesn’t pretend to be otherwise. The food is not gourmet but is very good none the less. The menu offers a decent selection of burgers, sandwiches, some steak and seafood. I’ve tried a pretty good portion of the menu and all of it has been as expected. Thursday night features all you can eat shrimp and Friday offers Dungeness crab until you are bursting at the seams. I would recommend getting there early for the crab. What I like best about this throwback to the past, is the intangibles. It’s a ‘local’ hangout where fans come to hear Jammin’ Jeff the one man band and maybe get a little loose on the dance floor. It’s not for everyone but worth a shot for most. If you find your interest is even a little piqued, give it a go.

okay, i’m a city boy, so how the heck did i end up at this place in the middle of nowhere? well, my wife’s friend came up here to visit his sister and her family at their vacation cabin on the lake and right up the driveway from her place was big lake bar and grill. this place is quite literally, a roadhouse type place. judging by the many cars in the parking lot, this place is a favorite for the locals, partly in fact, that this place is the only place around for miles. on the night we went, it was all you can eat shrimp night. so, for laughs, one of the sister’s kids, a big 12 year old boy said he could out eat anyone at all you can eat shrimp night. i told the boy about my experience of eating a philly steak sandwich on the east coast the size of a pizza and he bet me 20 bux that he could beat me. so the competition was on, the big young buck versus the proven veteran, me… plate after plate of shrimp came to our table and plate after plate left empty with just the tails. i had to admit, he put up a big fight, but i ended up pulling away and winning by 12 shrimp. it was fun times and we were stuffed. anyways, the shrimp platter was great, always fresh fried, piping hot and cooked perfectly, crispy and juicy. the fries were also good. the service here is pretty good and they servers were friendly. the ambiance? it’s a roadhouse, if it was bigger, you’d expect to see people doing some country line dancing or something. i can see why the people love it here, a festive outpost in an area known for it’s peace and serenity.

Good food, Not great, but good. I have spent many an evening or afternoon here with friends, having brews(or wine, sometimes) enjoying all you can eat crab, or my favorite turkey dip, and watching the boats on the lake(or the clouds) I love Big Lake Bar & Grill. I have so many memories here, and the service is usually a bit abrasive, but attentive and fun. Live music on some weekend nights, usually great bands. They have a few big screens for your football watching needs during the fall. A++
