Sierra Hills Market

Stopped in to grab some sandwiches before heading to Calaveras Big Trees… Was very pleasantly surprised at the amazing selection in their deli and the more than friendly service from those behind the counter!
Wife got an awesome ham sandwich while I had roast beef on their parmesan bread. Both were really really really great! They had some amazing looking fresh tuna that appeared to have been just cut from a fresh catch… wish we had time to check that out… maybe next time.
Way to go Murphys!

The deli sandwiches are so good! My favs are the pesto pollo sandwich and the chicken caesar wrap! I really like that they have the option to text in your order now too. 5 stars because the staff is always super friendly when I go in along with the delicious and quick food.

This is a cute local grocery store. They were opened in the early afternoon on Thanksgiving. Being in a touristy area, this was important since the other couple of grocery stores were closed. The were plenty of employees and they seemed friendly enough. It was busy at noon. They were well stocked. Prices were slightly higher than Safeway but it seems to have a niche market. They have a butcher and meat section. The produce seemed fresh. Since this is a smaller grocery store, it didn’t carry a lot of different brands of items. Plenty of parking and right off the main road in Murphys. I like the local business feel of this place.

I love that this little store is so close to my home! What a great selection for a small store. I do most of my shopping here and next door at the natural foods store. Once I’ve gotten to know the staff, they are personable and friendly. Gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because sometimes the meat has been a little bit old. But generally one of the better places to buy meat around here.

To the middle aged brunette lady that was my cashier this morning, I don’t know what I did to offend or upset you, or maybe you were just annoyed I had to return $ 8 of cough syrup for my grandmother, but the way you acted was unacceptable. I can handle no eye contact and not saying a word, but practically throwing my change at me was where you crossed the line. I am born and raised in Arnold. We are all a tight knit community, and it’s customer service like yours that gives us all a bad name. So please, for the future, try having a little more respect for people, even if they’re inside the store to return an item.

We were staying for a few days in Angels Camp and found ourselves in Murphys on one of our drives. This market was very nice and had a wonderful selection of gluten-​free and organic items. Made it a lot easier to stay in the area since we didn’t have to worry about food choices at restaurants.

Came here on our trip to Caleveras State Park. Was my BDay and decided to have a picnic by the river. This was maybe the best meals we had in our 4 days in the area. I had a panini with pesto, sun dried tomatoes and either turkey or chicken, sooooooo good. My husband and daughter split one of tbe other specialty sandwiches and loved i too. Side items were also great. This is a definite stop if you are in this area!

Since moving back to my small hometown in the Sierra I have been all about buying locally, especially from local small business owners. I typically pay more, but sometimes local loyalty in small towns really pays off.
I went to get emergency groceries from the market and found out the hard way that the check I deposited in my new business account had not yet cleared (a 7 day hold on an electronic transaction? Really?).
I had already got the groceries. They held them in the back bagged for me as I attempted an ATM withdrawal. When I came back defeated, one of the cashiers said I was local and to check with the manager to charge it on the house account! A young local boy came up to the cashier and told them they see me in here all the time and to let me charge the groceries on a «tab»!
I can’t believe there are businesses that stilll exist where being a regular patron actually means you will be looked after and taken care of! Thank goodness for small town small businesses!

Nice market for just about anything you may need. They have a totally separate market next door with local, healthy, organic goods and a great wine selection.
Great place to stop to pick up something sweet for that after dinner treat!

Gee Ed R. missed the best part of this market. They have the an excellent selection of local wines and at some very good prices. I always stop in when I’m in the area just to check on what they have.

Nice country supermarket to stock up on all the goodies you need for lunch. If you’re heading east, though, just get snack food, since you will need to stop at Giant Burger.
Sourdough bread, cheese, fruit and vegetables, groceries, and all that.
