While the staff was friendly(if not very shy with non-locals) the Sunday fare was barely average especially when compared against the southern comfort food cooked by members of my family. The chicken was cold, the muffins hard and much of that offered was obviously canned… a great disappointment. But hang on a second. The folks working and eating at Regina K’s could care less what I(or probably you) have to say about the business. This is much more than a restaurant. It’s a place where folks catch up with one another after morning church. It’s a place to catch up on the children and Grandchildren, not about the taste of lima beans. There’s a thousand places like Regina’s across the nation and they’re important places. Once I figured out that I was at something much more than a restaurant I took off my often too critical« Unilocal hat» and relaxed while taking in all that was happening around me. I’ll try another place when I’m next in Muscle Shoals visiting the Fame Recording Studios but those inside could care less. They’ll be enjoying chatting with neighbors and living a life away from the pace and problems of the big city.

When you enter you’ll make your way across the dining area to the small buffet that they are serving cafeteria style. They only have a few selections of meat and vegetables each day and you can find out what they are on their Facebook page. I got the pork loin with corn and broccoli casserole. The pork was really dry, the corn tasted like it was straight out of a can, and I could barely tell that there was broccoli in the casserole. Needless to say I didn’t enjoy my meal. I think there are much better places in the Shoals to get this type of fare.
