Went for the first time tonight with my daughter-in-law. The place was not crowded so I was worried. Turns out I was worried for nothing! Simple menu featuring several types of grits with shrimp or fish on top, served with two cooked-to-order eggs, delicious home fries and toast. There are also other breakfast options, plus many appetizers like spinach dip, wings and fried green beans, just to mention a few, and salads, sandwiches and desserts. My blackened tilapia and cheese grits were delicious. Seems like they are very busy for lunch and on Friday and Saturday when they are open round the clock from 10am on Friday morning to 6am on Sunday morning. I’ll remember this place for late night noshing after a night on the town. Staff and chef were very friendly and food was tasty and satisfying. I’ll be back and will recommend to my family and friends.

Drove by last night and saw a For Lease sign on the restaurant. That can’t be good.

We stumbled on this restaurant after abandoning the idea of eating somewhere downtown(too crowded and too expensive to park). We were very impressed by the quantity of food we were served. The club sandwich was the biggest sandwich i’ve ever seen. I had the mexican po boy, which was great and perfectly spicy. Everything we had was very delicious!

I was visiting from out of town and could not have been more satisfied with my choice to eat here. $ 12 for the breaded catfish, two sides, and a bottle of beer. My server was friendly and my food came out in a timely fashion. If you’re going to a show at the Mercy Lounge I highly recommend checking this place out for a quit bite to eat beforehand. If I’m ever in Nashville again I will definitely be back!

Had lunch friday with my wife. They have hired additional staff and are putting in a bar. New staff was friendly and efficient. Food was great as usual. I had the blackened talapia over cheese grits with green beans and white beans. Wife had seafood salad. The food was great and the service was great.

We found Pam very nice, and the fish and grits choices we had for lunch were great. They had a two for one special that really made the bill unbelievable, less than $ 20, and we are looking forward to going back and trying out more items.

ok so we went to this place with a discount voucher. It was a Sat. night. and there were only two other patrons. We ordered the blackened tilapia and fried green beans. The green beans were good. Nothing special. And the tilapia was ok. It looked blackened. But really didn’t have much flavor. The cole slaw was WAY hotter and actually too hot for me to eat. I didn’t mind the flavor, but again, way too hot. Thankfully they serve bread with your dish. incidentally my husband ordered wheat bread but was served white as well. He also ordered his egg(that comes with) «runny» it came out over cooked and almost plastic. The potatoes I ordered instead of egg were actually not tasty and greasy. Service? well since there was only two other patrons(which incidentlally came after we did and got their food way before we did), we thought we might get our dinner pretty fast. Wrong. We actually waited for 20min. atleast for our fried green beans, and another 20 or 30 min. for our fish. Our waitress finally came out and told us our fish broke and the owner decided to remake with new fish. This having been said after we were almost at our limit of patience. The staff was friendly enough. But still way too long to wait. We have waited for excellent food before, and don’t mind it it’s worth the wait. But sadly, this was not worth the wait. Will continue with our quest for awesome fish elsewhere. Glad we had a discount coupon. Dinner cost us all total $ 20. I have paid less for much better… sorry Fish and Grits, I hope you improve.

The name says it all. I had the cheese grits with blackened talapia, she had the cheese grits with BBQ shrimp. Both were excellent, but the nod goes to the BBQ shrimp. Atmosphere was casual, understated eclectic and authentic — perfect! Service was outstanding, prices were more than fair, parking no problem. More good news, they are in the process of building an outdoor patio, and, they are about to roll out an expanded menu that contains more«upscale» items like red snapper, trout and grouper.

4 stars for overall pleasurable dining experience. Clean bright décor, booths and tables, friendly efficient service. Hot wings $ 7 and bacon chedder grits $ 3 for me. Blackened tilapia with two fried eggs, grits and potatoes for Pablo. $ 12. Very nicely presented and tasty. Pablos dish in particular was really good. Wings were fried with hot sauce on them, not quite as clever as I like my wings but OK. Beer available and a choice of desserts plus its across from Flyte so we were able to go from dinner to Happy hour, Lovely, Oh and the fish and grits is open 24hrs on Saturday

This place is amazing. I walked in with a group of friends and our new best friend, Pam the waitress came squealing around the corner to greet us. Pam made sure we were comfortable from the moment we sat down, and actually re-sat us in the more comfortable booths(in the«party room,» no less) that were«made so you never want to get up!» Pam gave us a quick run down of the specials and wasted no time taking our orders. They serve a variety of comfort food — BLTs, grilled cheese and other sandwiches included — but the real stars of the menus are the fish & grits plates(surprise, surprise). Your choice of tilapia, catfish or shrimp, grilled, blackened or deep fried. Shrimp can come in barbecue sauce. Oh, and the plates come with home fries, two eggs cooked to your preference and toast. $ 12 – 14 for way more food than necessary. I had the blackened tilapia with cheese grits and would recommend it. Between the no-frills, super tasty diner food and the most entertaining and attentive servers ever, Fish & Grits has won my heart.

I am amazed that this place is still in business. The service is very good, but the fish and grits are at best mediocre. The fish tasted frozen, and I make better microwaved grits with water. The portions are decent, but there is just NOTHING interesting about anything I’ve had and I’ve tried twice, thanks to Living Social deals. I had the shrimp po-boy, and again, they tasted frozen. And the décor — oh my goodness it is a mixture of so many influences someone must have been under the influence. For shrimp and grits, go to Germantown Café on the weekend — it costs a few dollars more but you’ll never forget that meal.

My Husband I learned of shrimp and grits while on a trip to South Carolina. So when we found out Nashville had a place that served them we were excited to try this place out. We both got the Shrimp and grits plate. Mine with BBQ sauce and his without. It came with eggs, potatoes and toast. Everything was spoon good. Even the toast with apple butter was great. The eggs were done perfectly. And the BBQ shrimp and grits were out if this world! I’m so glad we don’t have to fly down to SC to get good grits. I think next time we go, I’ll get the club wild sandwich. But it’s gonna be hard to pass up the shrimp and grits. Also the service was great and friendly. Support this local Nashville place! We need more great spots like this.

Well, lets just say when a friend recommended this place I wasn’t all that thrilled when pulling up to the building. But I am a bit of a dare devil so I said what the hey. The first thing that delighted me was the über bubbly waitress who greeted us as we walked in the door. Okay now I’m excited. If not for the food the entertainment that is about to take place. However, much to my delight the menu is an endless option of everything comfort food. Of course since my newly acquired taste for grits I was ecstatic about the variety of grits. Still prefer cheese but nice to have the option. The food wasn’t just OK for a small diner kind of good it was fantastic! And the cook came out to make sure we were all good. To sum it up if you are into a diamond in the rough and are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone for a little comfort food, you definately need to check this place out.

Stopped here for lunch while on a day trip to Nashville with some coworkers! Blackened tilapia + cheese grits for lunch! The normal order comes with eggs and home fries and toast which would’ve just been way too much food for me, so the server was able to adjust a few of the menu items to get me just the tilapia and cheese grits with a side of cole slaw — yum! I’m not an expert on grits(have only had them a handful of times), but these were creamy and delicious! Tilapia was also super flavorful and seasoned perfectly. Cinnamon in the cole slaw was a nice surprise! Service was also super attentive, and everyone cleaned up their plates. Coworkers had the BBQ shrimp and grits which looked GOOD. Open 24 hours on the weekends! And yay for sweet tea(they also have beer available in the cooler).

Missing home and having no real plans, I’m having a slow Saturday as I recover from the work/volunteer week. I decided to take a break from my bed and classic movies for some comfort food. I decided to give Fish & Grits a try and stopped by for a carry out. I ordered fried tilapia and cheese grits. The meal comes w/potatoes and toast. I was pleased at how much food a got for $ 12.50. The fish was seasoned and fried to perfection and the cheese grits were just the right consistency. The only shortcoming was the eggs, I asked for«scrambled well», they were too far gone. :-) The waitress was very friendly, I love great service. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed what I’d gone there to get. I’d definitely patronize Fish & Grits again. Back to my movies, up next — Bikini Beach w/Annette Funicello… yeah, I’m a little lame. Give Fish & Grits a try, you won’t regret it.

Wow. This place is a gem in the raw. So many grits choices: BBQ, Swiss, smoked, cheddar, country, jalapeño, cinnamon, pepper jack, mozzarella, and bacon cheddar. The BBQ shrimp is fantastic, and our British friend said the fried catfish is the best he’s had in Nashville. It *was* quite crispy and light, with a not-greasy cornmeal crust. The service was attentive, the sweet tea not too sweet, and the peach cobbler was amazing — but it needed some a la mode, however they don’t have ice cream yet. The red velvet cake was pretty tasty, too, but not a stand-out compared to the rest of our choices. Open until midnight most nights, and 24 hours a day on Thursday-Saturday, this place is a great stop for a breakfast twist on most items, pretty much any time of the day. Parking appears very limited, but any frustration is well worth it!

I was so excited about eating at Fish and Grits. I like the concept and hours of operation, however some things must be improved before I tell others about it or return myself. I called ahead and ordered the blackened tilapia with grits, eggs, and potatoes. After waiting 25 additional minutes upon arriving and paying my $ 12 tab, I was anxious to get home and feast. Opening my container I noticed very dark potatoes, like the grease needed to be changed. I didn’t fret, I was going to taste them before judgement. They were a disappointment. Rubbery, cold, and flavorless. I preceded to try the toast. Mistake. Cold and Soooo stale. I didn’t want to continue but I had to taste the fish. I can admit that it wasn’t too bad. Tender and quite flavorful. Unfortunately my acquaintance with the poor items of my meal didn’t allow me to fully enjoy the main dish. I really want to patronize this business, but not until detail is given to their products.
